Btw, does HFSlip handles UAA (888111) slipstreaming ?
-
What do you mean with "only IE7 slipstreamed" ? I've slipstreamed all my updates with HFSLIP and used nlite to slipstream IE7 (and only IE7) and remove components. Corresponding files are attached but I'll make a special iso for you in less than 2 hours. I hate you Tomcat, it's the first time in my like nLite told me the size grew by 7MBs. So, I've used nlite only to slpistream IE7, french. IE7_slipstream.7z

FreeDownloadManager seems to be dependant on DCOM Laucnher.

I also have to mention that my driver installs a non-MS bluetooth stack (a toshiba one) which seems to be a good alternative and solution if you have such problems.

I removed Modem drivers. (I have a modem in my laptop and it installed fine) Kept infrared. LAST_SESSION.7z

Yet Another XP Mod - yAXM Project
Camarade_Tux replied to Camarade_Tux's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Windows installed successfully on a real machine. List of success: Bluetooth and webcams work without problem No software refused to install, no problem with IE7 Good stats everywhere17 minutes to install (or even less), from the real beginning (booting from CD), including 2 minutes to format the drive 90 seconds to copy all files (textmode part) 20 seconds to boot on a laptop from POST see the attached screenies List of problematic things UAA (KB888111) should be integrated I got a "invalid workgroup name" error during setup, this made the setup not unattended; this did not occur inside VMWare and in both cases windows was unable to find any network-related component at this stage of setup. Windows' display was set to 8-bit color which was really ugly. Some softwares to update (Maxthon, N++...), some others to delete (CPU-Z which has no interest here and should be updated weekly, and nVu which is far from being a nice app imho) The "Automatic Updates" service is not removed by nlite, I'll add the corresponding files in the remove box nuhi told me it was needed by IE7 lots of apps are .7z files which are extracted during setup using 7za.exe so you see tons of command boxes. But I now know how to easily get rid of them. PS: This screenshots were taken before installing any driver. PS2: one of the svchost is corresponding to DCOM, I don't really know what to do with this. And of course, wuauclt.exe should be removed. PS3: once again PAE is activated. This looks like a SP2 problem and it is a big waste of resources (-30% memory) -
Just wanted to say I'm using a IE7, slipstreamed with nlite, to post this message.

which option is responsible for displaying tooltips over icons
Camarade_Tux replied to tsk's topic in nLite
wooops... not the good tweak, r3incarnat0r is right ;Disable Baloon Tips ;(00000000 = disabled, 00000001 = enabled) [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "EnableBalloonTips"=dword:00000000 -
New RegTweaks Collection v0.2
Camarade_Tux replied to gugutz's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Once again, thanks for your work. System.Performance.reg: ; Force DLL To Unload From Memory [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AlwaysUnloadDLL] @="1" This tweak does nothing under NT. Nor does ; Increase IoPageLockLimit (disk cache) ; Note- Use the following settings depending on your system RAM: ; Note2 : Currently set to PCs with 512 mb RAM. Beware to modify according to your System Memory ; 00020000 = 131072 KB (if RAM > 512 MB) ; 00010000 = 65536 KB (if RAM > 256 MB) ; 00008000 = 32768 KB (if RAM > 128 MB) ; 00004000 = 16384 KB (if RAM > 64 MB) ; 00002000 = 8192 KB (if RAM > 32 MB) ; 00001000 = 4096 KB (if RAM < 32 MB) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management] "IoPageLockLimit"=dword:00020000 And I can't find visual tweaks. PS: in 7-zip, use PPMd rather than LZMA to compress text files : it compresses just like LZMA and is faster. I know this only spares 5KB but that's a pity fast noone is aware of that. I tried on linux latest kernel sources and PPMd was two times faster, compression was the same. -
I've just reinstalled an XP SP2 system. The iso has been made with nlite 1.2final. Everything seems to be OK. Just thought I should mention it because I heavily nlitened windows without having problems with bluetooth. //where's my last session.ini gone??

That's the theoric connection speed, not the effective write/read speed. (I'm not sure I really got the exact meaning of your post) But anyway, this video is clearly a fake.
-
Indeed. But transfer rates should also be too high: you have to write 8GB on your HD. Let's say you do this at 50MB/s and you still need 2 minutes 40 seconds. That's the whole video length! File copy did not take so long, Vista Ultimate is maybe bigger than 8GB, I'd like to write continuously at 50MB/s when playing with 10 000 files. And what about the DVD read speed ? Else they're using a ramdrive plus a network share else the author of this video is nuhi! However I have to agree installation can be shortened by several minutes if you do file copy while you're asking the user for his infos.

nLite 1.2.1 breaks Office 2003 administrative install
Camarade_Tux replied to dijuremo's topic in nLite
I don't really know but one error is referring to .net framework 2. Maybe it was installed on the computer you used to create the admin point but not installed there. Or vice versa. ? Also have you tried installing by hand ? -

Try to take a look at the eventviewer (start -> run -> eventvwr). Also, post your lastsession.ini, who knows ? -
Yet Another XP Mod - yAXM Project
Camarade_Tux replied to Camarade_Tux's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Thanks a lot for trusting me. I'm going to update the different programs then check webcams and bluetooth both work correctly (eventually I have the corresponding hardware and two really different hardware configurations). I think I'll make a new thread when ready (be more readable and more appealing). -
I've just checked the versions of these files and saw there were .MUI/.MU_ files too. Except from that, the files are versionned as 7.0.x

I can confirm this and this is far from being a small performance increase when adding adding new hardware.

File System Filter Manager - what exactly is it needed for?
Camarade_Tux replied to tsk's topic in nLite
File System Manager are something new in windows. They appeared with a patch for XP SP1 and are in SP2. Nothing uses them at the moment. But imho this is something that should not be removed (except for kiosks maybe) : it would be just like removing WPA2, PCI-E, SATA, PPPoE, DVD and stick to WEP, PCI, PATA, Dial-Up, CD. ATM if a driver is buggy, as it *necessarily* runs in system space (just like windows itself), whenever it bugs, the whole system freezes. Moreover, there also are several other avantages on the performance side and ease-of-developpment. clicky at M$ -
I'll check again tomorrow but as far as I've seen it is slipstreamed (especially, nothing in SVCPACK and installation not longer than usual [iE7 took several minutes to install when upgrading from IE6, post-install]). I'll check file versions too. However, I've only checked internet connection inside VMWare (and only got DHCP here) 1-Below my search bar, I have some buttons. As they are on the save level as the tabs, they may not show when tab navigation is disabled. 2-Press ALT (the key next to the space bar ). You can use the "Tools" button just below the search bar.
