    TinyXP

Weird, my isos without additionnal softs are 127MB and still I have no compatibility problems. Really weird...
  2. Search for BITS in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and export the corresponding key. Attach the file.
  3. Yup, I could check the culprit is smooth-scroll lists : lists are not choppy anymore. Btw, http://www.sanx.org/tipShow.asp?index=123
  4. It's nice to see people interest in this. Thanks. I am currently debugging software installations in VM. Or rather, I think I have debugged them. I want to do some other real installations before any release but I can't this weekend since linux on wednesday and windows is going to remove grub. I've also started the documentation and in fact a website is already running (Dokuwiki+PunBB+Puntal[LCMS]). If everything is OK or close, I'll put a beta version next week. And otherwise, I'll probably wait one more week but not more because my last install did not have problems as far as I remember. Btw, Dev-Cpp installs very slowly because it shows the list of files being processed and it takes at least 0.3 seconds to add a new line to this list. Not a big problem but there are hundreds of elements in this list and wihu is affected in the same way. Does anyone knows how to speed it up except by moving the window outside of the screen? Is it related to a visual effect? Smooth-scroll list boxes ? THanks.
  5. Perverse.
  6. See the Closed-source features there : http://virtualbox.org/wiki/Editions
  7. Afaik TinyXP was meant to be tiny at the cost of some (many) funcitonnalities. If you can, don't bother trying to solve this : reinstall a normal windows.
  8. VLC is quite big (19MB) but it's the only app I know that reads DVDs correctly (i.e. interactivity, chapters...)
  9. Thanks a lot.
  10. Dial-A-Fix (see my signature)
  11. Hum, I have to thank you. I stumbled on ophcrack/l0phtcrack last week and thanks to you I tried it. It found the weak password I use to get my windows installations in no time (with livecd, under a VM : >2 min). And in ten minutes everything included, it found the admin password at my school. It was not a sophisticated one, a short one in fact but it worked. ^^ Hopefully, they weren't using a complicated pass (*^¨$£¤%...) because otherwise it would not have worked (this part costs >1000€). Btw, I fixed one computer. And am probably going to install Flash Player on some computers because it seems the tech is nonexistant.... Anyway,
  12. It's just that in the file manager, in the tool menu you can run a benchmark and I think it would give a good idea of how good it performs from a CPU/memory point of view.
  13. @gugutz, sorry for the late answer Having infs instead of reg files is handy when it comes to localization because you can use vars (and end-vars ?). I think files should be kept as .reg and entries that needs localization should all be moved in the same inf (same, because there are not many of them).
  14. Could you please try a benchmark with 7-zip ?
  15. Has anyone had a chance to see how well it performed ?
  16. @Hanschke, are you running under a limited account ? @nitro : "access denied" and as far as I understand, erstellen corresponds to enumerated here. (my dictionnary says "build" so...)
  17. I'd say : try opensuse. I've had some very very bad experiences with ubuntu while I never had any problem with OpenSuSe.
  18. Aero, Superfetch, Readyboost, parental control... I think I'm gonna reconsider running Vista. Thanks a lot nuhi. ^^
  19. Nice indeed. I have two remarks : -it could be a bit wider (one inch) -IE asks me to install simplified chinese module...
  20. lol, we all do No, I don't : I don't have enough space.
  21. Indeed, did not pay attention to that. I was searching a big ugly error. Btw does reg file really need an extra blank line ?
  22. It takes 1GB out of 2GB! Maybe that I should close VMWare. But opensuse takes 2GB out of 2GB. If I start UT2k4, it takes 10 seconds to load. If I close it and then open it again it starts within 3 seconds. ^^ Maybe because only 13MB are being paged.
  23. Guess what these mean.
  24. I was wondering what HTTP SSL was so I searched and found the following on microsoft.com Are they talking about another HTTP Filter that would come with IIS rather than with XP SP2 ? Anyway, I think HTTP SLL is for server-side. So if you run an IIS webserver, you'd probably keep this. Anyone to confirm or infirm this ? edit : but that say it is dependant on HTTP and this driver(http.sys) is also listed in the registry. I've stopped it here and I can still browse. I'll reboot and check; this seems weird.
  25. Yes, indeed, there is a problem for quote but afaik it is not new and maybe done on purpose. But no problem with the codebox.
