  1. Since I'm about to make a test release, I'd like to improve the first post of this topic. Which points do you think should be more developped, what is not being explained, do you want more details on how to customize it further ? And so on. Thanks. My problem is I've spent so much time on this that it's hard to expose it to somebody who in fact knows nothing about it.
  2. d3drm.dll = 1,,,,,,,2,0,0 d3dx9_32.dll = 1,,,,,,,2,0,0 d3dx10.dll = 1,,,,,,,2,0,0 d3dxof.dll = 1,,,,,,,2,0,0 dakbc.dll = 2,,,,,,,,3,3,da.Kbc No other d3dx*. edit: taken from hfslip.log: Files in your HFCABS folder: Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x86.cab Apr2006_d3dx9_30_x86.cab Aug2005_d3dx9_27_x86.cab Dec2005_d3dx9_28_x86.cab DEC2006_d3dx10_00_x86.cab DEC2006_d3dx9_32_x86.cab Feb2005_d3dx9_24_x86.cab Feb2006_d3dx9_29_x86.cab Jun2005_d3dx9_26_x86.cab OCT2006_d3dx9_31_x86.cab swflash.cab
  3. I'll do as soon as I get home but I've searched for d3dx* files and only got two results.
  4. Well, that proceeds my knowledge and as I am unaware of what an SDK is, I wouldn't know. But if it does function without DX, then cool. I doubt many people would remove it, if any. Nice addition, though. An SDK is a Kit for Software Developpers that provides them with premade functions, classes and similar things.
  5. I've just tried hfslip for XP SP2 with directx-dec and noticed only the last d3dx_32.dll file was being copied to SOURCESS. Do we still need all older cabs in HFCABS ?
  6. Btw, what is auditing under OS options ?
  7. Shouldn't we have a .net thread ? Were people could have a single debate about .net ? I mean, let's do it once so there's no more flaming.
  8. Slackware, bloated ? But anyway, you can install what you want on today's distros. What you want. Nothing is forced so if the install is bloated it is the user's fault.
  9. Why not ? In order to use DirectX you need a SDK. Do you think MS coders use this SDK for all their apps ? Windows are being created with the same (ok for the transparency) code in XP as they are in 95.
  10. But, but... there's an nlite release and we're not on monday... My whole world has changed! Anyway, thanks a lot for this release. ^^ Btw, is [ExtraFileEdits] supported for addons ? I use I had no time to test it for real but it worked great under VMWare. This would be nice in nlite. And everyone forgot about the upcoming holidays.
  11. I am the only one thinking a grey font is not the easiest to read ?
  12. Or do it over, use a virtual machine to test. If you don'tget any bug then that's fine. If you get a single problem, redo the whole process. Again, you should be able to integrate new windows update over your source without problems. But don't integrate a new pack over.
  13. bledd is pointing out something important : re-nliting and already nlited source may cause problems. And patching and already patched source with a unofficial pack too. (does not apply to official updates because fast nothing is changed with them)
  14. Je suis tout à fait d'accord : les québecquois, c'est vraiment n'importe quoi. And don't forget kids, merry christmas, joyeux noël, fröhlig weihnachten and don't speak any other langage. Oups, language.

    msstyles support?

That was just a general remark. I have an AHK script that lets me select the themes I want during install. I think you know where I use it.
  16. That's something I don't like in FF : no clear changleog.

    msstyles support?

Btw, could nlite recreate a basic .theme file if none is found. These are just text file. The following is enough: [VisualStyles] Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\Crystal dlb BE\Crystal dlb BE.msstyles
  18. I get 75 when not logged in and when logged in. Check your prefs : it is maybe not on board default.
  19. Woo, that's something! Surprising and really nice. I think many people will follow. Btw, you should give a clear licence to XPize then : CreativeCommons, GPL, BSD or whatever but make it clear. (my preference goes to CreativeCommons)
  20. Just like for Real, Quicktime, Flash, word documents, .iso files... And as usual such softwares can be preinstalled. GTK+ : I've used several GTK+ apps under win and they didn't suck. Although I've never been on the programmer side. Qt : Indeed, forgot their favorable licence was only for open-source apps but it still leaves room for OS apps. wxWidgets : that's the one I was thinking of Swing : agree SWT : same winforms : requires .net framework but as you wrote, mono is there WPF : windows only, and uses DirectX. That's not having apps that are not cross-platform, that's having apps that are completely tied to a specific OS Preferring to have an app that will run on different platforms is not something I don't care of. In fact, it is getting more and more important for me. And the last thing I'd like to see is a complete split between win32 and other platforms apps. Also, I can predict an increase in linux systems; installing OpenSuSe is as easy as installing XP (in fact, there are even more drivers under OpenSuSe) and then there is no problem to use the system.
  21. Works fine here Same here. Tried with IE6 at school, with very restrictive rules.
  22. So we all agree SegoeUI font is even bigger than Tahoma which is itself bigger than previously used fonts. SegoUI - Tahoma - previous
  23. Now the big question would be why haven't these software developers released things for Linux and Mac? because they either can't (cause it won't work right on that platform) or because they don't see the benefit. unless software developers see a large enough user base where their product can be profitable they are not going to write software for that OS. Since linux for the most part is open source, software vendors have problems writing and selling software for linux so that is a risky venture. An Macs are still a rare and exotic breed in the corperate world, so writing software for them is limited as well. but enough of my rant, Write for a specific OS ? Of course, I'm not a professional dev but I avoid to use platform-specific API as much as possible (i.e. performance drop, ease). And if graphical interfaces matter, why not use gtk/Qt/the_other_one_whom_name_I_forgot; they are cross-platform, performant. And just a quick poll : maong those who prefer Vista over XP, how many were using an nlited XP ? I'm asking because I could run 3 nlited XP, having the same memory usage as with one vista.
  24. CTRL+TAB ? Right-click, left, right; right-click left; right-click right. And about the topic, same opinion here.
  25. 28/18KB is for "System Idle Process".
