well, then you might want to try wininstall le. i think its free but im not sure. i use scriptlogic installer design studio and its great at repackaging/editing setups but its not free.

search for a topic on EMC 8. there are som posts regarding version 9. i have managed to install it silently but there's a major problem. the roxio central (the main interface wich has burning data/audio files recording capabilty on it) doesnt get installed. i dont know why.

i dont know exactly but search for DOS system variables. you can use some as SYSTEMDRIVE USERPROFILE etc...

you have to choose between use winrar sfx archives. winrar help explains it clear. or 7zip sfx archives. use adminstudio or installer design studio to repack setups. not silent but you can use standar switches to install them silently. you can make you own installer using inno setup, NSIS or the one i use and love to make msi: Caphyon Advanced Installer. they are easy to use. but for NSIS and Inno you need to read some guides to get started.

@zilexa: have you tried it with the latest version of kav and/or kis (6.0.1.411)? @sonic: if i make an mst file just with this row removed will it work? or i have to remove something else?

the fatal error is occurring with a already installed windows. i havent tried on a clean unattended install but is weird because i always tested new version of nero lite before putting them on my dvd. and on the other hand, the thing with the debug.txt is also weird, i have no idea why is happening.

thanks. just a suggestion. it cannot search in files, displays an error saying that a plugin is missing. also, when connected to internet, it downloads some plugins. i couldnt see wich though.

i dont know why would you want to keep temp files of those setups. the main problem here is that sfx archives use folder names somewhat extrange and you can never know for sure what their names are in order to delete them. tha only think i can think of is that you can use a custom folder to extract your sfx archives and use names that are familiar to you. then you can use a script or a cmd file that deletes the ones you want. but you cant have a Y/N question before this.

i tried on my laptop the recode addon and there is the debug.txt file created. i also noted that i used the original nero setup package also and it comes with that bug. now, on my desktop i uninstall previous version of nero lite, install the new one and i have a problem with the loading of video files (when windows gets their info when you click on a video file)as well as when opening nero. i cant open nero. this is the error i got. please note that in my desktop i never tried the recode addon nor the nero original package. only uninstalled previous nero lite, reboot, then install latest nero lite using this switches. /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /COMPONENTS="nero_core,nero_core\nero_express,nero_core\nero_api,nero_core\nero_audioplugins,nero_core\nero_audioplugins\mausau,nero_core\nero_videocd"

i think the debug.txt is something to do with the original nero package because i just install it on my laptop to try some things to include a nero recode addon but it writes a debug.txt in c:\temp i had the latest nero lite installed before uninstalling it and installing the nero original setup.

I managed to install silently without using the Adobe customization Wizard wich isnt out yet. i just added my serial number to the Abcpy.ini file and launch it with the following switches. INSTALLATION Abcpy.ini [OEM Install] ISX_SERIALNUMBER=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX Switches AcroPro.msi /qb /norestart UNITYSELECTION=RETAIL SERIALNUMBERTEMP=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX it doesnt display any activation window. installs completely silent. the activation window is triggered the first time you run the program and you can activate it. however, i didnt find any traces of the activation in order to add it silently after the setup. i will uninstall it then make snapshots to see if i find something. ACTIVATION i made some snapshots and this is what i have found so far: 1) after activation, it created the file AUMProduct.aup in this path Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\AMT i think this was created by the adobe updater as it is launched the first time you open acrobat. 2) a registry key named bActivated=dword:00000001 was created here HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\AVGeneral i think this is just a flag so it can know wether it is activated or not. 3) a registry key is created here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macrovision\FLEXnet Publisher\FNPLicensingService it has binary data so i think this is the activation information on this machine. i will deactivate and make some tests to see if i can activate it using just this reg keys. TWEAKS * the FLEXNet Licensing Service can be set to manual so it doesnt run on startup. however, everytime acrobat starts it launches the service. after closing acrobat, the service is closed too. so we can use a reg file to to make the service run a manual basis. * you can disable the three startup items it adds. i didnt notice any slowdowns and when clicking on a PDF file a process named AcrobatInfo.exe is launched so you can access that pdf file's information if it has some embedded. after a while the process is closed automatically. i like this behavior when disabling the startup items so you can save some ram if you are limited on it. the adobe customization wizard i think will help on the activation but as it isnt out yet i think we can find a way to activate it silently. post any tweaks, suggestions you may have. i will keep testing it and post any results.

i had version 7.5.1.1 lite installed. i uninstalled it but didnt reboot. got version 7.5.9.0 and use this witches: /VERYSILENT /COMPONENTS="nero_core,nero_core\nero_express,nero_core\nero_api,nero_core\nero_audioplugins,nero_core\nero_audioplugins\mausau,nero_core\nero_videocd" after the setup, it auto rebooted my computer. iwonder if its a bug on your installer or was it because i had a previous version installed and didnt reboot myself after the uninstallation. thanks.

i was surfing around demonoid and found a nero lite like package that comes with the core components as hp38guser posted but also has a recode addon and smart start addon. i noticed they are sfx file wich include a .cmd file each. will test test the nero recode addon to see if it works. will post tomorrow is i succeed.

im downloading it right now. will take my sunday off to try it and see what is all about.

sad to say but you are righ, the thing autoreboots as earlier versions. i think we have to make another mst file to prevent that. right now im copying the setup to the desktop so i can launch it after of all my uadvd is finished. i personally dont like to mess with "delicate" programs as anti-virus. this way im 100% that is working well. i posted some topics on kaspersky forums but they said that silent is a feature to business customers using kaspersky admin kit or something. sad.

is acrobat or reader. the reader cant be tuned using installshield tuner. you can leave the default settings for the program path in acrobat if this is troubling you. i already installed silently office 2007 on my laptop without any reboots. nevertheless i havent tried from a clean install.

have you tried editing the variables. normally setups use something like this. [PROGRAMFILES]/[MANUFACTURER]/[PRODUCTNAME] maybe you can change the product name and delete the MANUFACTURER part. anyway, this is how i make msi with advanced installer.

or you can use autoit script. just search the forum for an easy guide on how to use it. its easy to make scripts for some apps.
