Problems with setups making shortcuts to websites
ajua replied to ajua's topic in Application Installs
the setups that gave me errors were tuneup utilities and solveigmm video splitter. anyone has any idea? i searched in ms site without luck. -
also you can try to avoid the /nobackup switch just to see if it solves the problem. maybe it is caused by a file being replaced or something. just a thought.

i just made a clean install and the fatal error is showing up. i installed nero lite from runonceex. this are my switches: /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /COMPONENTS="nero_core,nero_core\nero_express,nero_core\nero_api,nero_core\nero_audioplugins,nero_core\nero_audioplugins\mausau,nero_core\nero_videocd,nero_coverdes" i dont know whats going on. i guess i will stick to the 7.5.1.1 version. that one didnt had any problems.

im installing it from runonceex and i dont have this error. maybe it is because i apply a custom theme in my winnt.sif file and when the runonceex routine finishes, windows loads this theme. maybe you can try to load a theme in winnt.sif if you like the default windows theme, apply it to see if this solves your problem. BTW, im using the original installer from microsoft with this switches /passive /update-no /norestart

i just tested my uadvd on my laptop and i got problems when two programs were installing and tried to make shortcuts to their websites on the start menu. i got an error that the file "Program Website.lnk" cannot be created. as both error came out when making shortcuts to website im assuming that is caused by the ie7 installation as i never had this problem before, when i didnt installed ie7. any ideas on how to get rid of this? because those error stop the setup routines until i click ok and then my runonceex continues to execute. thanks.

What do you think of my first Billboard?
ajua replied to ajua's topic in Setup Billboard Screens for Windows
working already on another billboards, guess it will be done tonight. will post them when finished. EDIT: i encounter some hard work at my job so i guess i will delay my billboards a couple of days. -
i dont use it cause i dont like it but for people that asks me to install it i use the silent installer from shark007 repository. it doesnt have quicktime on it and can be installed silently.

yes, i knew that already but i prefer to have them installed this way in case i dont need them for an installation. this way i only keep one uaDVD source updated. i dont really like nLite because it takes the control out of me, if you know what i mean. but thanks for the heads-up. i think i will be using WMP integrator as soon as i test the setup with IE7 and WMP11. thanks for the comment Sonic. im leaving the explorer 6.x updates in svcpack because i think that a lot programs use explorer components and many install some control for ie6 so i think installing the updates wont harm anyone. this is as long as i encounter some way to integrate ie7 without using nlite.

i have a question shark007. why the safety scanner should be installed before IE7? i just want to know, just being curious. thanks for the installer.

What do you think of my first Billboard?
ajua replied to ajua's topic in Setup Billboard Screens for Windows
tnx for the comments. im thinking of doing 1-2 more billboards using this idea. just changing the colors a bit to suit different tastes. will post them tomorrow. going to sleep, 4:25am here... -
I was testing all day and i came out with this one. I wanted to use sober colors and a not too distracting background so it would look more "professional". There aren's any issues right now. Is working in my uaDVD. Screenshot: Download here The string resources in the dll are in spanish, if you want to use it, then extract the bitmaps and change the progress bar/text colors using an hex editor on your own dll. Please let me know what you think.

the post instructions work. but the registry entry that holds you activation info is this one instead the one mentioned on the post. it maybe different, so check it when you manually register windvd. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\InterVideo\Common\Registered] "79r"=dword:ffffffff

have anyone tried the shark007 installer with a fresh install of windows using updates in svcpack folder and running the setup from runonceex? im trying it later. i hope it works.
-
have you tried the latest version wich is 4.2.0? also try posting you switches and/or options used.
-
have you tried to launch the setup with setup.exe /adminfile yourfile.msp? im using this way and is working great. i have now deploy it to about 5 machines and all went fine.

ok, thanks. i just noticed that i forgot to uninstall the previous versions so i think this is the problem with those checkboxes. thanks for your reply.

Im wondering if i have to install the windows updates for internet explorer for WinXP SP2 even if im going to install IE7 in my uaDVD. the same for Windows Updates for WMP9/10 if im going to add WMP11 to my uaDVD. i think they are not necessary for im not 100% sure. if anyone can answer this it will be great. so i can remove/leave the. BTW, i install all windows updates from svcpack folder. EDIT: everything worked as expected. i left the ie6 cummulative updates just in case and all went fine. there is an update for windows media (one for wmp9 and one for wmp10) so i left the wmp9 and wmp11 installed just fine. now i have WMP11 and IE7 installed from runonceex using both original installer from MS. switch for IE7 /passive /update-no/ norestart and for WMP11 /Q

good idea to stop the hotlinks cold. i have a question. does anyone know what the options in the advanced mean? im referring to the option "Default Java for browser" (my installation is in spanish so i dont know how it looks exactly in english). there are two checkboxes. Mozilla Family and Internet Explorer. they are unchecked by default. should i check them? i really dont know. thanks.
-
how do you installed IE7? did you use the silent installer by shark007? i still havent added to my uadvd. maybe there's a conflict with the ie7 dll's.
