  1. You may want to look here : http://erpman1.tripod.com/current/wmp9del.htm
  2. Possibly using Microsoft's Preptool (search the forum for the dl link) before imaging will get you the nearest to it. What it theoretically does is that it removes all installed hardware. You basically should find yourself at the first run on the the target machine at hardware pnp detection while not having lost any OS or software settings. If you've got the all drivers needed by all your target machines at the right place in your image then it should be possibly only a matter of rebooting once on each target machine to have the whole system properly installed.
  3. Doesn't Ieradicator already do what you want here ?
  4. Maybe it's the registry cleaner ur using that does it.
  5. I think everyone that's got ME is potentially interested if you can get anything that's not out. Probably MDGx is much more interested than me. So yes, if you can get anything, please do.
  6. Isn't it ? I got inspired by a Winamp Modern color scheme and I have never changed it since as it is not boring and doesn't tire the eyes. It's here if you like : Cardboard.reg Try to put some shortcuts to apps in your MoreAct subfolders. I am sure you will manage to get some crowded submenus.
  7. You may want to use this one instead of the one you have.
  8. You did well to delete them. It's a section of the registry that must be cleaned by hand. Your registry cleaner leaves them there because they contain only settings values but no invalid path or reference to non existent registry keys. And they are there because you either removed those programs by simply deleting the program files or the uninstall procedure has been written so poorly that it leaves in place the regitry entries which is quite often the case.
  9. How many fonts have you got in your font folder ?
  10. You must tick the top item before clicking apply to enable the shell extension. Then it will work. If not there is a problem with your system. As for registering the dll, I wrongly remembered that it could be simply registered with regsvr32 while in fact the supplied exe must be used for doing so.
  11. Kill and restart explorer with Explorestart for example when this happens. See as well my off topic posts in this thread To dramatically reduce the need to resort to the above : Unregister webcheck.dll if you don't use active desktop. Type in the run box : regsvr32 /u webcheck.dll and press enter. Other tips : Tweak the directory and file cache to the max. Don't use the conservative swap file usage tweak. Twice the size of the Ram is said to be the best for the swap. That's what I use but haven't tested other values. Best location of the swap depends on how many drives, partitions you have. If you have, say, three hard drives, you may want to locate it on its own on a separate partition of your OS drive so you can benefit from maximun speed transfer between the two other drives. Have a good background memory manager running that autorecover your lost Ram such as Ram Idle LE. And you should be allright. As well, disable antivirus background scanning if any when just copying and moving either large files or large amount of files. I sometimes use this file to clean some caches in the registry : REGEDIT4 [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ComDlg32] [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts] [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RecentDocs] [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU] [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StreamMRU] [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\UserAssist] [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Discardable] And I use RegSeeker as my automatic registry cleaning engine. I find it is the best. You may want to give it a try.
  12. MoreAct works. I have just tested it again : I have created a subfolder named ext.txt. I did put a few shortcuts in it. Then I registered the shell extension with the executable. And then I have been able to multi-select several text files and open them at once in a single instance of my tabbed text editor as if doing drag and drop or as if it where directly in the shell context menu for text files or Send To. So you might want to try again. Maybe it is able to do what you want. Otherwise there is FileTargets which is a Send To clone but it does not allow the creation of custom submenus per filetypes.
  13. Well it works on ME albeit I am not using it at the moment as Open Expert currently suffices to my needs. The dll just need to be registered in the system. Folders need to be created by hand for each filetype you want to have a submenu for. Then you just need to put your shortcuts there as you would for the send to. I cannot garantee that it will work for vbs files as I don't use vbscripts.Maybe you could Open Expert but what prevents you to do so is that the open menu has got a filter that allows tom choose only exe bat or com. Maybe you could get it to work by bypassing the GUI and use regedit instead to insert actions. To the best of my knowledge, most if not all 32 bit program written when there was only 95 will be running perfectly on 98 or ME. All those I have tried did. I don't understand how you can load twice a shell extension which is only a dll. If you manage to insert one vbs file in the context menu of a filetype with Fast Explorer, you can insert as many as you want in a submenu diferent for each filetype you want to do it for and only one instance of the Fast explorer dll will be running.
  14. My send to is nested since a long time. But this does not allow for specific submenus on a per filetype basis. To the best of my knowledge only the apps I have posted above do that.
  15. That's just creating an extra context menu entry for textfiles. You can't create submenus only with the registry to the best of my knowledge.
  16. Abit NF7-S is very stable and cheap. That's what I have got. Weak point is the mobo fan. http://www.directron.com/nf7s.html http://www.dealtime.com/xGS-abit_nf7_s_motherboard
  17. Hi spiritpyre, I have read your doc and I'd be interested to know if you could easily compile a standalone and silent .exe version of your "refresh filename" programing trick. I toggle myself Show/Hide file extensions with a batch file I have written and that I launch from QuickMenuBar but I am unable to find an app, a batch command or a simple API I could compile into an app to refresh the filenames. So despite toggling with the batch file I still must right-click on the folder background and choose refresh.
  18. Have you tried 0pen Expert or Fast Explorer ? There is CMenuExtender and MoreAct that you could try as well. And I forgot Context Aware Hope you'll enjoy that.
  19. You'll give us some names, please or better even open a specific thread to discuss more specifically that devilish plague problem with disruptors and how you would deal with it. By the way, PM Xper if you want to be a moderator.
  20. I have bought that NEWLink ATA 133 RAID – 2 Port RAID PCI Card at Maplin's store the other day. Though I have paid £29.99 for it, I see it is way cheaper on the Net. Just £12 here. I'll be telling you soon (sometimes within the next couple of weeks) whether I can boot and use my 200 GB Drive C to its full capacity with it. I'll have to force myself thouroughly reading the doc first. Especially about the BIOS as I don't know yet how the BIOS will want to boot the computer from a drive plugged on that card (if it can at all). Edit : Well I still haven't tried to install that card.
  21. There is not enough information : What are your swap file settings ? Is your drive(s) defragmented ? Where do you copy from and to ? Same disk ? disk to disk ? How many files are involved ? 2, thousands, tens of thousands ? And is everything the same in both cases beside the OS and the filesystem ?
  22. I can't really help either but what if you take the CD out, put another one in, read something on it and then put again the one you just burned. Can you read it now ? If yes, it could be there is some sort of cache that does not get flushed maybe because you don't label your CD and Windows believe it is the same as before it was burned.
