  1. I think you should try to use generic USB 2.0 drivers. The ADS drivers might just be buggy. I am using a USB HDD drive and a USB Pen drive without specific drivers installed for them. Albeit I am on Win ME. Maybe Maximus Decim USB update for Win 98 is your solution. Otherwise this may help : A USB troubleshooting FAQ
  2. rdocurs.dll and MSRDO20.DLL is RDO (Remote Data Objects), it comes after DAO (Data Access Objects) (Jet) and before ADO (ActiveX Data Objects) (MDAC). I don't think any of those runtimes are Office specific only. A page at Microsoft with 3 RDO 2.0 downloads : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q218992/
  3. Jet 3.51 Service Pack 3 is still downloadable on MS website I have now seen but it does make for some of the above files only. I have never installed Office on my machine. There are some unnoficial DAO350 packages here and there on the web I have seen as well. I have downloaded some but haven't looked into them so far. PS : From what I understand now, Jet 3.51 (DAO 350) and Jet 4 (DAO 360) are not compatible with each other and can coexist without problem on a machine. I have still failed to find a MS package with the whole DAO 350 runtime. The above update does not include DAO350.DLL for example which is apparently a core file of the runtime.
  4. Hi Charles, interesting links but nothing to see with the title bar icon I am afraid. There is a very nice software that I am using to add/remove buttons on the toolbar and items in the tools menu, as you can see on my screenshot above. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/ctie.html
  5. I have changed it in the shellIconcache with the help of WorkSoft Shell Icon Cache Viewer. Changes remain for as long as the ShellIconCache is not rebuilt. I still don't know where it does come from. The icon is present in iexplore.exe (twice), in mshtml.dll and in shdocvw.dll but does not seem to come from any of them. I use IE 5.5 SP2.
  6. Puzzling. I havent managed to know where it does come from but I have managed to change it as you can see below : Note that I have changed the one in the address bar as well. I haven't managed to change the one in the status bar though.
  7. As well, there is there is a hotfix for "MSXML 4.0 SP2" that is (apparently) not on MDGx's page. Hotfix for MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 - KB832414
  8. I have MDAC 2.8 SP1 and Jet4 SP8 installed and I thought I was up to date with databases engines but this product has just added the following files to my system : C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSRDO20.DLL 6.00.8862 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\JETCOMP.exe 1, 0, 1526, 0 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\msjt4jlt.dll 3.52.3328.0 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\msxbse35.dll 3.51.0623.0 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Odbcjet.cnt C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Odbcjet.hlp C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\msexch35.dll 3.51.0623.0 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\rdocurs.dll 6.00.8804 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\odbcinst.cnt C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\odbcinst.hlp C:\Program Files\Common Files\SYSTEM\ole db\MSDASC.CNT C:\Program Files\Common Files\SYSTEM\ole db\MSDASC.HLP C:\Program Files\Common Files\SYSTEM\ole db\MSDASC.TXT C:\Program Files\Common Files\SYSTEM\ole db\msdsqlrm.txt C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\DAO38425.rra And has upgraded those : C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Msrd2x35.dll 3.50.3602.0 to 3.51.0623.0 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Msjint35.dll 3.50.3602.5 to 3.51.0623.0 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Msjter35.dll 3.50.3602.0 to 3.51.0623.0 Those files have been touched by the installer but were already on my machine and have not been upgraded (they might have internally changed but as I didn't perform a checksum of the files before installing I don't know) : C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Vbar332.dll 3.0.6908 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\msexcl35.dll 3.51.3227.2 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\msltus35.dll 3.51.3227.2 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\mstext35.dll 3.51.3330.0 C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\dao2535.tlb From text strings I have extracted from the data1.hdr file of the Install Shield in the temp folder it is "New DAO 3.51/Jet 3.51".
  9. I think one of those files is boot.ini. It is a text file. I think you must just change something in it as to boot on the ME partition by default. I don't know the exact syntax that must be used but if you google a bit you for dual booting 9x and XP you should find it quite easily.
  10. Buy a copy of Windows in the language you want or use Reshacker to change the strings of dialogs and menus in the relevant system files. PS : If you choose to go the Reshacker way and want to change folders names as well, you'll have to edit the registry under the "Shell Folders" keys. And probably other stuff as well that I cannot figure out should be changed. So buy a new copy in the language you want, it'll save you lots of time and hassle.
  11. You can try to use TweakUI. Tick "log on automatically at system startup" under the logon tab.
  12. Maybe there should be a stickie with the links to all the localizations that exist.
  13. That problem was unrelated to the oleaut upgrade. Did temporarily downgrade to 4275 again. Error was still there. Reinstalling Media Player 6.4 cleared the error.
  14. I highly doubt that system upgrades will solve problems of memory leaks in third party software. If WinMX leaks memory, then its develloper(s) must fix this bug. I see that this soft hasn't been updated since more than a year.
  15. I have already suffered from the problem described : New IE windows launched from a first instance wouldn't display any content as well. I am almost sure (but not 100%) it was due to a 3.50.xxxx file and not to unmatched 2.40.xxxx subversions.
  16. If u wish, I can send u a couple of demos thru email [just let me know]:E-mail I have the Tripod demo saved, without the spyware code. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That'll be allright MDGx as I can access the page now. It does not do it anymore. Thanks. BTW, it was TR/StartPage.SX. A "dsldbaccess(1).exe" written in the TIF Folder while jumping from here to Tripod. A fullscreen popup appeared for a fraction of a second and then the antivir interfered. PS : I wouldn't mind a couple of other demos so I'll drop you my email if you don't mind. It's quite interesting.
  17. Not so nice as the page apparently dropped a Trojan that has been intecepted by Antivir. After which IE crashed in kernel32.dll. PS : I can't reproduce that.
  18. Same error as I had. It was simply not poping up anymore to start the download. You have maybe installed a different version of Net Transport (I use 1.87 which is the last freeware version) or it might be due the fact that IE5.5 and 6 files are vastly different. I have now installed the new downgraded upgrade and have no problems with any of the above. I just have to check that msdxm wants to display streaming video. You've asked before me.
  19. There are GUI tools that allow to downgrade locked files from Windows for those who don't like DOS or write by hand a wininit.ini file. http://noeld.com/dl.asp?path=copylock.zip& http://www.jkh.no/jkh/installfile/Installfile.zip
  20. I think VB6SP5, VB5SP6, VC6SP5 and VC6SP6 all contain the same version of the oleaut runtimes : 2.40.4275 Because of the file version that is inferior to the ones already on the machine. The installer checks this and doesn't downgrade the files.
  21. Hi Petr, That's the plugins : http://www.browsertools.net/Flash-Saving-Plugin/index.html http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/pa...Net%20Transport I have an older version of the Flash plugin than the one on the above page. My setup is WinME IE5.5 SP2 + latest security updates. What version is OK ? I do not know as I have downgraded to 4275. For me 4275 is OK. I am not too sure about the highest version number of the Oleaut I had installed without having problems. I think it was 4522. I'll be upgrading to those again. As well I had other problems with 4526, similar to those PsychoUnc has, with ActiveXs but I thought at first it was because I changed my default security settings in IE. Msdxm would not want to load to play video streams in IE for example. And then I did downgrade the files from DOS and all problems were gone. PS : Have you installed 4526 yourself ?
  22. Problems confirmed here with Oleaut update. Some of my BHOs (Net Transport and Flash Saving Plugin) weren't working anymore properly from IE. Downgrading Oleaut solved the problem.
  23. You have choosen the verb "steal" on purpose I think.
  24. To my (limited) knowledge, most of MS runtimes are self registering. They register themselves as soon as they are called upon by an app. For those who don't self register, you'll usually get a specific error message aying the app cannot find such or such file. So far I have noticed that problem with one single MS runtime file : MSSTDFM.DLL. Here are a few handy context menu entries that I am using to register/unregister COM components : REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\shell\Register] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\shell\Register\command] @ = "regsvr32.exe \"%L\"" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\shell\UnRegister] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\shell\UnRegister\command] @ = "regsvr32.exe /u \"%L\"" REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ocxfile\shell\Register] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ocxfile\shell\Register\command] @ = "regsvr32.exe \"%L\"" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ocxfile\shell\UnRegister] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ocxfile\shell\UnRegister\command] @ = "regsvr32.exe /u \"%L\"" REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ax] @ = "axfile" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\axfile] @ = "DirectShow Filter" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\axfile\DefaultIcon] @ = "C:\\Windows\\System\\Ax.ico" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\axfile\shell\Register] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\axfile\shell\Register\command] @ = "regsvr32.exe \"%L\"" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\axfile\shell\UnRegister] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\axfile\shell\UnRegister\command] @ = "regsvr32.exe /u \"%L\"" An icon for Ax Files I have made. To be put in the System dir (or elsewhere but then the above registry file must be adapted to its location).
  25. Who do you mean by Forum Gods ? Those who have failed so far to answer my interrogations about the legal aspects of Tihy's Revolution pack distributed from this Forum ? Those who don't moderate Mitchellovision and his keygens ? Or someone else ?
