1! Because my video card (on a laptop ) has... get this... 32 megabytes of ram!!! Maybe in coming years, I'll build myself a new PC with one of those new nVidia 7800 GT cards with 512mb of ram Here's a screenshot of my dismal performance: But actually, believe it or not, MY benchmarks say it runs Vista Ultimate just as fast as it did XP. Maybe it's because I have a higher-end processor: a Pentium 4 at 3 gigahertz. The clockspeed is fast enough to break through that 'clockspeed = faster performance' myth.
I thought of that too, or maybe it means 'activations' in the sense of each activation being one computer, and each subsequent activation for that computer being not counted.
Honestly, I haven't had the time nor the energy to maintain it lately; I have other projects that I've been working on lately that have taken priority. So, while I kept the database and files in tact, TTT is closed for now.
I love Millionaire! (Although I agree that the Millionaire people created a super-secret technology that reads peoples minds and make 50/50 NOT random ) Too bad they got rid of the Millionaire show at Disney World.
I remember when Blackomb was in serious discussion... around the early Longhorn alphas. Now it is Vienna. Now think about this. The original, circa-2001 release schedule was this: Windows Longhorn: 2003 Windows Blackomb: 2005 2003 and 2005! Hahaha!
Do try it; it is a very nice product and is free. Works like a charm with Vista, too. Although it is lacking in features compared to VMWare Workstation; I might treat myself to a copy of it eventually
I have been thinking about the pricing of Vista lately. Granted, only one computer will use the Ultimate edition's features (mine), and the rest probably Home Premium. It would be expensive to upgrade one comp. to Ultimate and three others to Home Premium. I've been thinking: don't TechNet subscribers get like ten licenses to Vista, Office, and the betas? If so are there any licensing restrictions? Would it possibly be an option to buy a TechNet Plus subscription and supply Vista and Office to the whole family using it?
Beta 2 worked quite well on my hardware - it was slow, but in terms of drivers, more installed by default with Vista than XP. I was quite happily suprised. Also I will be dual-booting it with Ubuntu Linux. It's been my primary OS lately and I do anything critical (eg related to school) on it. I think I'm gonna give it a shot for a while
I have Vista 5536 installed on VirtualPC, but I can't really find time to test it! Do you think it would be smart at all to replace XP with 5536, and then upgrade to RC1 next week? I know I'm probable insane, just thought I'd ask B)
MySQL can easily go on the same server, and personally I prefer it to. On email: Most mainstream hosts use not exchange but a normal pop/smtp server, but I don't know about this. You need to look into cPanel. It automates nearly everything and will make your life much easier. Despite the high price tag.
I'm going to have to recommend Ubuntu for your scenario... here is how you install apache: sudo apt-get install apache2 PHP: sudo apt-get install php4 sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-php4 sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart MySQL is a tiny bit harder, but it just involved a few more commands and an editing of one config file.
Good point. One I have recently taken a liking to is Simple Machines Forum(SMF). It has nearly all the features of IPB and vBulletin, and I absolutly love the automatic mod-installer.
5384 was the CPP'd Beta 2, right? Because of my problems with VMWare, I am thinking of installing 5384 or XP first on VMWare and upgrading. Bad idea, though, probably.
