A problem with having a reduced Windows as far as you and I have pushed it is that their are many different configurations out there that we can't test.

To get Minlogon working on a regular XP install: To get the executable, go to: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en Extract it using -x or WinRAR, and then go to the rep folder and rename the 833642_minlogon.exe to minlogon.exe. This is an old trick . It's just one of the many features MS considers important to build into Word...

Maybe xper can make Gurgel mod of his forum? And to solve the download server problem, you can try allowing only SP4 cd's and then creating a patch for those files. Or you can use Binary Delta Compression (search MS for it), the technology that MS uses for their express installs.

Actually Mindows works for XP or 2K3. The only difference between the setup is that you have to move watchdog.sys from Drivers to System32 . Thought I clear that up.

XP can do this also. You will need the TweakUI powertoy and then under Explorer, select "Use intuitive sorting...".

Download WMP10, extract it and make note of the extracted files. Then on your Vista install, find these files and copy them to a temporary folder or your XP install. Keep in mind that this is all hypothetical and that I haven't tried this out.

It was more of a problem of how I could make an installer than anything else, which is currently what I am trying to fix.

Why use Vista? With every previous Windows release, Microsoft released like a plethora of patches after the first year. There's many bugs that even the beta-testers didn't catch. With XP, users all around the world have had 4 years to find those bugs and get them patched. Besides, most of the Vista features are being backported .

I have a very small installation of XP myself, and I know for a fact that you can't expect more than a 5fps gain if you're lucky. Gaining 30-40fps is impossible no matter how much you tweak your OS, unless you count reducing resolution or something.

Is there any way I can tweak Windows to use F1-12 as hotkeys? I'm restricting myself to using only Windows or Microsoft applications.

I believe it's an unofficial version of Windows, that is it's hacked up by someone else unaffiliated with MS to do their bidding .
