    win xp sp2

Frozen as in IE itself? Or is the page not loading? Could be a problem with the ActiveX applet.
  3. I think those are the wrong drivers.
  4. You got the wrong DLL or wrong version.
  5. The key "EnableSuperfetch" doesn't even exist. All of the prefetching registry keys are stored in the ntoskrnl.exe file. If you search for the words superfetch or super, it will turn up nothing. So apparently, all this is just a bunch of rumors to clog up your registry.
  6. You want to remove the DLL's associated with an autostart path?
  7. Is it possible that all versions of Windows contain some sort of mechanism that will slowly drain the transfer speed of a download? I suspect this because Linux allows transfers way faster than Windows, and also because of when downloading a huge file off of my FTP server running on the same computer, the speed gradually dropped from 5.5MB transfer to a rate measured in KBs.
  8. No it isn't. EDIT: Minilogon or Minlogon?
  9. I doubt a school would use an authentication system where everyone is logged on as SYSTEM .
  10. Why's it not worth it?

Minlogon reportedly works on 2K/XP/2003. And I can't take credit for any of the work on Minlogon. SFiorito figured everything out.
  12. A REPORT claimed that when senior business executives are given high tech gadgets they're completely clueless about what to do with them. You'd think that the senior execs would be able to figure out how to bung an Ethernet cable to connect their notebooks into a hotel's system, but it seems the captains of industry are incapable of even doing that without support. Further, because these people are constantly jetting around the globe, they apparently expect IT support to be on call for them constantly, even when it's the middle of the night. We can imagine the conversation. "I'm in Tokyo. My notebook doesn't work." "Er... who is that? Don't you know it's three in the morning?" "It's the CEO you blithering buffoon. Give me some help, and give me some help now, I can't access the gambling site I usually do corporate network." Later. "Ah, what you need to do is to switch your notebook on, sir." "Where is the switch?" And so on, no doubt. Full Article: here
  13. Are you sure you did extend the partition, and didn't make a new partition or anything. Because I don't quite remember that diskpart had a resizing function on XP.
  14. Open regedit and modify: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion There should be a key named CSDVersion. Modify it to Service Pack 3 or whatever.
  15. Several things you said are false. First, memory doesn't fragment, since only static data does. Also improving memory management might've meant optimizing it for server use. How can this be possible? In the days they were developing XP, there was all this hype that it was going to be the best OS. Microsoft would've made sure it was their "best performing OS". And when Blackcomb comes out, is Microsoft suppose to make Longhorn appear inferior when all those optimizations were done?
  16. Boot from BartPE. Or get a reset tool that doesn't require booting from a CD.
  17. I would prefer a smaller thread, easily done with the edit button.

( 15 seconds from the appearance of Boot logo till the appearance of Desktop ) Winlogon: The Winlogon service is the standard logon context in Windows XP. Devices that run Winlogon are somewhat larger and slower to start than devices that run Minlogon. However, they use the full spectrum of Windows security features, including Group Policy settings, user logon rights, and ACLs the winlogon.exe file is attached in this thread in the first topic included in the zipped file: mindows.zip edited by Aegis i took it and replace the original winlogon.exe inside system32 folder after replacing (from outside the OS), boot was 17 sec. , so i ran BootVis utility and it was reduced to 15 sec. Using MinLogon (the original name of this version of winlogon file) in a Windows XP allows you to reduce boot time, shutdown time, and footprint. check this please: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....PE_MinLogon.asp winlogon size is about 500 K minlogon size is about 17 K only <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Minlogon doesn't come with SP2 .
  19. what? I have only been replying to peoples questions. If I double posted, it must be from the browser I'm using. I'm only replying once I assure you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Use the edit button. You do not have to reply to different people's questions with different posts.
  20. Rhythmnsmoke can you do me a favor and stop double, triple, or quadruple posting . You always bump it up and make it seem like people are really interested in the thread.

My suggestion would be to ditch OE, given its many issues, and get an alternative.
  22. The way you're going at it, I believe that your software is way to complicated and restricted to be of any use. What you have done can easily be done in Windows without any software. Read Martin Zugec's blog if you don't believe me. Now what I want to know is why is there no trial? And what is your job in the company? Anyway, it's way too annoying trying to get you to admit it on the forums, so consider me in for your demo. Unfortunately, I have no speakers, so....
  23. Ctrl+Alt+Del is hardcoded into winlogon.exe. To disable it, you'll have to get an alternative, such as minlogon. Search the web for more information.
  24. Right click toolbar and unselect both checkmarks.
  25. Though there is slight modifications between Server 2003 SP1 and XP SP2, these are only security modifications made recently. Show me a link. Registry tweaks do make a difference, dont they ? Same as above. Where does it say that? And in saying that, they could've meant the overall performance and compared to Win2000. Depends what the benchmark is for. Server benchmarks obviously will show performance in favor of 2003. These files aren't possibly the Server 2003 memory controller files since both ntldr and ntdetect.com are used only during Windows startup.
