RAID5 capable cards cost a lot. Expect to spend at least $150: (SATA1) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16816115023 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16816115020 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16816118015 (SATA2) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16816115027 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16816102077 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16816115025

The core looks to be about right, but for the memory, I think the other person might have had an aftermarket heatsink that's more effective, so he is able to achieve a higher OC that is stable.
-
I think I read somewhere that Core2 and Vista are suppose to come out at the same time, especially since Core2 has some features that Vista can take advantage of.
-
I have no idea why it would suddenly stop working. Only explanations I could think of is that the CPU was overheating/unstable or there was a power surge that messed something up or the other guy opened his case and killed something with static electricity. At any rate, first thing to do is to isolate the problem by replacing the components bit by bit until you find out what's not working.

Use filemon to trace what application is causing the popups.

Lol love it how people assume the worst . I didn't say I left the project for sure...

This guide is unlike conventional tweaking guides because it's not a full-blown guide and it assumes you know the basics of overclocking AMD64 processors. As most of you may know, processors aren't all designed equally. There are variations even within the same batch. One variation is the amount of heat a processor can take. This variable is known as TCaseMax in AMD64 processors. The only utility I've heard of that can read the TCaseMax variable is called AMD64 TCaseMax, which you can download here: http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/forum...wtopic.php?t=83 The two other utilities you will need is Prime95 and an overclocking tool of your choice. Now on to the guide! First start up AMD64 TCaseMax and find out the value for the TCaseMax variable. Subtract 10 from this value and monitor your processor temperature, making sure that it doesn't exceed the new value. Now start up Prime95 and do a torture test, while monitoring your processor temperature at the same time. If it exceeds or approaches TCaseMax-10C within a few (1-2C) degrees, then it's very probable your processor will generate an error within a few minutes. If your processor temperature was fine, then you can start overclocking. Test every change with Prime95 and your temperature monitor. Once you approach TCaseMax-10C, start making 1MHz increment overclocks and testing them with Prime95. There should be a sweet spot where even 1-2MHz more will cause Prime95 to fail. Once you've found this value, then congratulations! You've just found your max OC . And don't forget to tell me how useful this guide was.

Project development has been suspended. I'm not sure when I'll be working on it again, if ever, now that I've discovered the magic of OS X .

It's alive...but I'm still trying to find my knife. Currently GE is in the process of being slimmed down. It's a boring process, so I don't have much to post, unless you want me to say "I just deleted rpcss.dll and the system still works!"
-
Well it depends...I'd say the Opteron series was best for OC and FX for use without OC.

Nope ! Not a goner yet...Turns out the issue is that with any generation other than NV40, the water quality at high would cause the water to glitch. Lowering the setting to medium fixed it, although I would prefer high since I have 8xAA and 16xAF and I'm still not suffering any lag ! Time to get a higher-res monitor.
-
Does anyone know how to fix this: http://img418.imageshack.us/img418/4701/farcry6jg.jpg I've tried updating the drivers and underclocking it...

I'm confused why I'm getting these strange results. At the core clock of 553MHz I'm hitting 9130 3DMarks, then if I up it to 554MHz I hit 8600. Can upping it one megahertz really lower your score 500 points? Or is this just standard deviation ? And then I tried increasing the clock to 567 and I hit 9160. Only 30 more points for an increase of 13MHz?
-
Both the CPU and VGA processor doesn't go above 35 degrees Celsius during 3DMark . I can't get below this temp even with my fans at full (currently at half speed). And this is with the processor at the stock 1800MHz with one of the cores disabled. I'll try to break 10K when I get some time. And Ripken, I don't see your pics .

This topic is not a place to be discussing Microwinx.
-
Is that integrated sound? If it is, try getting a cheap PCI-based sound card.

This is a known issue with the latest patch: http://theinquirer.net/?article=31061 Best thing to do is to uninstall it or continue using Firefox.

Also enable viewing protected operating system files in the Folder Options control panel.

I bet Build 2600 will be the final RTM build! And 2600.1106 would probably SP1! Just a random guess though. I'd be so amazed if I was right. Some voice in my head is suggesting 2600.2180 just might be SP2. And where is Aaron these days!?! He hasn't been on since November 2005.

Yeah that's why it's called UT99...

And Gdogg, I don't have access...but a few other users do. To test my claims, I asked some beta testers (no names) to do file and registry comparisons and they're "highly similar" in one tester's words. Some things were copied exactly. Lots of other "coincidences" also added to the fact that MicrowinX might be based off of Mindows. I didn't want to accuse you since there's always a chance there's another explanation, so I brought it to the admins and mods to decide. They are still trying to prove/disprove my theory, and that is why the Mindows and MicrowinX topics are missing.

And a joke isn't meant to be taken seriously. As I've said before, I don't have the project and never did. For those people who actually know me beyond these forums (like Ripken), they can testify that I say stupid things all the time. If you're done with these forums, then don't advertise here.

"I dunno if MSFN does have the files" When did I say that? Now quit trying to start a flame war. No damage has been done. Your topic is not deleted...
-
Also like to add that I don't have access to MWX and never had...I dunno if MSFN does have the files, but I certainly did not give them the files. I don't know where you got that information from, but now you're making false accusations because of a minor thing. The mods will unhide the topic when it's appropriate to. Just be patient.
