2. i had a msdn copy, borrowed it from a friend. It was intresting, but it was an early alpha so bit buggy... tt
3. definitly try the ranish. Been using it since is started my unattended windows cd...
4.
You guys are getting on my nerves. In the many months of my usage of Firefox, I have only gotten 1 pop-up. As for websites, just go to any place that offers cracks to software or go to some porn site that redirects and opens a chain of new windows. You'll be reformatting soon afterwards. If I wanted to I could do that with Firefox and be untouched as I was before I opened the browser. You guys read Google News and all the headlines saying how Firefox is blowing IE out of the water? I'm sick and tired and defending my choice over yours. Use IE. I don't care. No more browser politics. Stop bugging me for some resolution. None of us will change our minds. Have a great day. Oh, Sunil, just like un4given1 says, grrreat post. [post="290567"][/post]
Well, it was never my view to turn it into a debate of some sorts, just to make a point. Sunil
5.
Jeremy You are sure I use a dozen plugins, eh? I use 2. Thanks for your absolute certainty, congratulations, you're a psychic. One thing I know about Internet Security is that today's spyware is coded to attack a particular vulnerability in IE and that's why Firefox and Opera and many others may seem more secure. However, in the time that it takes a minority of coded spyware to attack something in one of those browsers, I think they will have a pretty strong wall to fend off whatever tries to attack them. I know the user makes the choices, please continue to state the obvious. I can take IE and Firefox and go to 10 sites that I know will infect with hijackers and spyware. If I use IE and scan with Ad-Aware and HijackThis, I will get a lengthy list of infections. If I do it with Firefox... ZERO! How do I know? I've done it, that's how. I've used PCs for 10 years. I haven't used Firefox for a year yet, so that says it all right there. Anything else?
You fail to realise what using it for 1 year says. What happened to IE in 10 years that it has been around? Im sure you have seen the front page, http://msfn.org/comments.php?shownews=12352 Read it well and absorb it, because it will get worse before it gets better, as it has with IE in my view, you now have toolsets that help prevent spyware and resources that educate the end user... Im sry but to praise something that is now coming into childhood just isnt worth it, let it achieve adulthood and then give it its many worthy praises... Sunil oh and btw, if you would give me the list of those ten sites, i would really appreciate it..
6.
Nanaki, I take offense to the "good sense" remark you made. Firefox is a great browser. It has its flaws and that why we have version updates. Now, Sunil, your comments really p*** me off. Firefox bloated??? ROTFLMAO IE is bloated. Where was that screenshot I found on these forums that showed 80% of the IE window consumed by useless spyware toolbars and 114000+ had been detected? Take that and compare it to Firefox with the toolbars customized to have only menu names and address bar. One colum compared to what... 25 of various column widths? And yes, I know this is only interface-related. Firefox is not bloated. You can have as many or as little plugins and you want and the configurations are very straight forward. And the whole "role reversal" comment, as far as that goes, under those cimcumstances, people would be saying "Hail IE" instead of "Hail Firefox or Opera". Simple as that. It's best not to think about it, though, it's too weird. And the whole thing about it being tied into the system, well I use nLite and remove Internet Explorer and it hasn't affected my computing abilities at all. There will be some people who use the excuse of system-integration to backup their preference for IE. Then you have people like me who go the next step and actually find out... IE sucks baby. I feel very sorry for anyone who uses IE. The POS hasn't had an update in what... 4 years? [post="289276"][/post]
Now, i said it was only my view i meant no offence.. And by saying bloated i was speaking about the numerous plugins that i am sure that you use, all those little things you add USE RAM. If you use 10 plugins at 10 megs ram each... do the math.. what makes it so different.. as you have surely seen that firefox is not immune, the end user is the "catalyst" behind spyware, the user makes the choice of what he she does on the internet... How long have you used ie, and how long have you used FireFox.. that is my question to you.. Sunil
7. IE all the way, FireFox is too Bloated...Opera, tried it, dont like it. I have used IE since the good ole days of windows 98 (my first pc). Since then i have seen all, been through all and i am still loyal, because non can touch what ie has been through and survived. Firefox and Opera i agree may be more secure, but think about this, what if the places where reversed ie was the new kid on the block and Firefox, Opera were the titans to be dealth with, what would be the outcome??!! This is simply my view, because i have tried almost every piece of browsing software, on most of the OS's available and IE is by far the better browser. Some say its slow, well all i can say is that it gets me there in once piece. Some say its buggy, well i have accepted those flaws. if you look at it from the system point of view, It has been the arguement that because it is tied into the system it can cause system crashes etc... well, i just keep it patched and it works fine. I have never personally experienced any sort of system crash. It uses less memory, as some have said. Once again these are only my views on this topic, i meant it in no way to be offensive.. Sunil
8. when i had windows98se, i cant say i had any probs at all, i bet if i was still using it i would be enjoying it too.
9. As an admin you can take ownership of the dir in question, hmm didnt see the article above, follow that its the way to go/

Computer Hang

hmm, ok some small info needed.. Did the system work ok before you updated the graphics card and "set in" the bios? What you can do are the following: 1. reload the bios fail safe defaults, to see if it helps at all 2. try another video card. 3. Try to go back to date before you updated the drivers (system restore) Just if it bsods when you try to restart then you prob have a software-system conflict.. Sunil
11. Well, firefox 2 HAS NOT been released as yet. The Latest version Mozilla offers for download is ver 1.1, which contains security fixes.. Firefox 2 is slated to be released at a later date.... Sunil
12. you can install your drivers from cmdlines.txt, so when setup does restart (which it always does) you will be all set to proceed with the rest of your install i.e your guirunonce section...
13. I've never touched nor heard of the winnit.sif script so I'd assume not. Could you tell me the location of the file and how I could "call the cmd file"? Thanks - Oliver. soooo, we have gotten somewhere. Ok, for an unattended install you must have a winnt.sif script on the cd, for windows to install.... The winnt.sif file is located in the i386 folder of your windows cd. You can then call the cmd file from that script.. below is teh code. [Guirunonce] %systemdrive%\install\batch.cmd <-- you should have placed your cmd file here you can refer to the msfn unattended site for info.
14. visit windows update and it will tell you all the files you need to update IE to the latest Patched Version.
15. Do you actually call the cmd file, in the winnt.sif script? Maybe you can post it for us to check, make sure you take your product key out. Sunil
16. Overburing is only available on newer burners, overburning burning a boot"cd" leads to a few probs, You WILL NEED a drive that supports overburning to read the cd. As for data corruption, i have personally never had that happen, i cannot guarantee it would not happen to anyone else... I have a Pacific Digital 4X dual Format DVD burner. Ive been in this unattended business for a while, since msfn first started it, and if you have a burner that supports the overburning give it go.. Sunil
17. I think it would be best to wait until a ver is released for the 2003 platform. Also, if you block the website from detecting the ver of windows u use, it will not allow you downlaod any ver of the player.
18. Most Definitly, its another step in the windows era. So i will walk those steps.
19. hmm that does not seem to work, it still only gives the add to ... options, however when you double click it, it opens in winrar.. Sunil
20. Yea, well as you said if you have a flash card reader etc. it counts as a removable drive. Good stuff
