When I had a hard drive go bad on me, my XP CD did the same thing. I removed the hard drive I wasn't booting from and tried it again and it worked. If you have multiple hard drives, try unplugging one. If not, try unplugging your drive and seeing if it will boot off the CD.

Try here. This page only lists by CDRW model number. I searched for a Vaio support site, but to no avail. Can you pull the drive out and find the model number?

Yikes! You should be able to see at least "Software" under HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Maybe there's something wrong with the registry.

I've found nothing simpler than FlaskMpeg. I am able to get some really nice video out of it with a minimal amount of effort. CladDVD is what I like use for pulling out VOBs.

I'd recommend the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 if you have enough money, or if you're on a budget, the Altec Lansing 251. Why have a card that supports surround sound when you only have stereo speakers? I can personally vouch for the Promedias. I scraped up enough cash to do so...whew. By the way, I have the Audigy 2 Platinum and I love it! The Platinum has an amplified mic input, as well as several others, that goes on the front of your computer. The regular jack on the back has no extra amplification.
