 Where's you find that? It's just a hunch. I bet I'm right though!

There's a reason wooly mammoths are extinct: BECAUSE GOD DECIDED THEY ARE TOO DANGEROUS! Wooly mammoths are able to shoot laser beams out of their eyes and nose and they breathe fire and their skin is impenetrable and they can liquefy your brain using only ESP. They probably give you halitosis too. I only hope that the scientists die in horrible "accidents" before they can resurrect this apocalyptic beast. Just my thoughts...

Avg is what I like--notice how many votes it's getting (between AVG6 and AV7) as compared to Norton. Of course Norton/Symantec will get more votes, but you'd get similar results from asking people if they prefer Windows or Debian Linux It's just that more people have it, so naturally more prefer it. Don't get me wrong on this one--Norton is not a bad product by any stretch of the imagination, I just prefer AVG because of its sleekness and it's conservative use of the CPU. People will tell you that Norton will catch a virus or two that AVG doesn't, but it's only in lab tests of ITW viruses collected by the thousands. If you're not actively seeking viruses, you will never see any difference, but if you're an every day user who keeps an eye on what they do, AVG is a nice non-resource hog. AVG is one of those truly great underdog products that people come to love once they've tried it out.

Did you snag the newest one from messenger.msn.com? It's got more than one game to play multiplayer.

The mouse will behave as if you have one monitor while you play a game. You just alt-tab out to minimize it and do something else. When the two screens are different resolutions, you just have to remember that you have a little "step" to overcome. I have a nice 17" which facilitates 1280x960@85Hz for both monitors. Here's an example of what two resolutions would look like, and you don't see the black; that's just the virtual "step" you have to move your mouse around. I like having two monitors so I can browse while working on a Paintshop project or having a walkthrough or cheats up when playing a difficult game. General web browsing becomes far easier, too.

Whohoo! Saves money A friend of mine found a lil' 15 inch by a dumpster in our dorm. The previous owner didn't know about dual monitors and threw it out after an upgrade! Nice system though...you'll be able to turn everything on, even in Half-Life and Doom III.
-
No surround sound and only one monitor? You're dumping so much cash into it anyway, I'd get either a low-end 5.1 like the Altec Lansing 251 or go high end, like the Klipsch Promedia 5.1. I have a set of the Promedias and I absolutely love them! CRT is the way to go for price and picture quality, but if you lan a lot, maybe one CRT and a TFT... Or 2 CRTs--the KDS XF7 and XF9 series are excellent and inexpensive. I got my XF9 (19") shipped for $180 USD, and an XF7 (the 17" ) can be had here in the States for about $125. Maybe buy two 17''? The Radeon 9800 supports two monitors--might as well use it--and once you've used two you'd never want to go back to one...Look how much you can do! No more minimizing and resizing and moving windows Or, while playing long bouts of Battlefield 1942, you can still see your chat windows up on the other screen, so you can keep track of what's going on.

I'll buy more fans! I'll get water cooling! ANYTHING for the Erotic Wood cases! I can't get enough of the wood!

XP doesn't let you choose much more than what time zone you're in, unfortunately. There are ways to include your own fixes though. Check out this thread for some good ideas about how to get your old settings back. Check out my custom reg file, a compilation of my finds and others', for quick fixing your Windows.

I have wanted to make myself a wood case for a long time, and this just inspires me more. I MUST have one! Or I'll make my own. Could you imagine the sound-dampening effects that would could have on your PC?

N Korean warns Australia could face nuclear strike
Unwonted replied to sedative's topic in General Discussion
Good for Australia! I'd much rather they had nukes than a wacko, maverick dictator who's running out of money for his army. I think some of those nukes Australia gets will come from here. We just signed a treaty with Russia saying we would get rid of a few of ours if they would -
Same thing, but maybe you're working with it now, or maybe it's the firewall here where I work.

That's certinly a lot of words! I'm sure you might have made made some good points and all, but I'm not in the reading-a-novel kind of mood today. Maybe I'll have a look later. -

"LET US HAVE MORE NUCLEAR WEAPONS OR WE'LL NUKE YOU!!!!" lol Hmm...that doesn't really sound like the kind of high-ranking official you want to have nukes. They better not do that, because the US Military is just itching for a reason to get rid of the North Korean communists. I would even consider staying in the Air Force a few more years if I didn't have to go there Aussies rock! -
If it's fast user switching you mean, then you just go to "Log Off", and it should give you the option to "Switch User"

I must recommend the KX Project drivers. I just recently discovered them, and they work well with my Audigy 2. It's also nice that they update more than Creative does It's better than messing with your current settings all day, right?
-
Messenger 6 gives you that option, but it is disabled by default. You can enable it in the options section.

Keanu does look like a good pick. Think they can get a realistic-looking goatee on him?

I'd like to see Joaquin Phoenix as Gordon and Tommy Lee Jones as the G-Man. Who do you want?
-
That could be the problem then Make sure that the search is including for hidden files and folders! If not, I would assume that the file didn't get burned to the cd, as AaronXP said.
-
Did you do a search for the file on the cd? I'm not sure how big my Office CD is supposed to be since I slipstreamed all the updates into my install.
