I've succesfully used RTM with 8GB of RAM with b85 chipset , installation went smooth [NO updates included in the ISO], I just had to unplug my stupid cardreader , cause it had no drivers and I catched a BSOD upon the installation , the only weird isuue I had , as others have mentioned earlier , some games do behave weird when (if) your GPU has a huge VRAM , like 4 - 6 GB. Stuttering , not using VRAM to the fullest . Overall , Vista RTM is so eye-candy and very fast. Logon bug happens rarely [!] . I guess the reported amount of VRAM by DxDiag is wrong and that particular games depend on it . Is there a way to fix the reported amount ?
-
That's very promising , I plan to use Vista RTM in the future . Have you ever tried it ? It really is very fast . On a 10 year old hardware it feels like win2000 in the good old days.
-
I wasn't the one who suggested linux )))))))) And I'm with you on this . I also think we should you use Windows , but everything after Vista sucks , it's my opinion and I don't want to argue, k ?
-
Hello and thank you ! Are any similar projects planned for Vista without service packs ? Like porting DX11 , fixing logon bug . I find it very fast and good for internet usage on laptops.

I have many of it blocked, yes there are some downsides , some sites load slower. But I prefer to block it.

Yes , you're right , older ones are more reliable because they used higher quality parts ,but not "high-end" , just the manufactiring process itself was better and testing after assembling too. As I wrote in the previous post , some were very good : Delta , FSP and some others. Also I think we shouldn't disregard how hot it became nowdays , esp. during summers. I bet it's so hot in Germany these years ! And not everyone have an A/C . I know electricity now is very expensive in Germany (wondering why , cause I know a guy in Austria and they have very cheap electricity) . So the result - computers parts will die sooner . The funniest part , I read soooo many articles were they say "change caps every 3-5 years or so" , yet I still have plenty of caps alive and well from the 80's - early 90's . I've salvaged them from TVs and HiFi sets . Very useful when repairing old PSUs and mobos. Even though most are 85 deg., they are better than modern 105 deg. The best are Philips and and Rubycon , Nichicon is ok too. I even have RDE caps Made in Germany , oh man , that are glorious caps ! Those were the golden days when exceptional qulity goods were made in Austria , Holland and Germany.

Where's the pic. ? We wanna know how it looks on your system .
-
Thanks cap. , I know . You misunderstood me , compare it to the picture published by Dixel , his aero shape is much more pleasant and looks like Vista should look . And these are like windows 7 , aero , but flat.
-
Why the aero looks so strange , more like windows 7 ?
-
I don't have that KB installed.

Golden words , like . The only minor thing left , explain it to many others on here , that use yandex [!] , yes living in United Kingdom , for example , and yet using yandex . As for me , I just block tons of china-russia IPs with firewall. The same goes to google, yahoo , etc.

A simple addon ? It's not simple for modern day users , blocking scripts ? Well good luck with that , all those modern bloated websites simply won't work , even if user knows what he's doing. Try to use NoScript here , for example . You won't even be able to leave a comment . And the majority of users won't bother themselves with figuring out what went wrong , they will simply uninstall this extension . I think the devs of NoScript really should make it more simple-user friendly , add some templates for example , like light / mid / heavy privacy. Even though I like your comment in general , I don't think Linux is a "user-friendly" system. And it's bloated with spying as well . Just install a fresh Linux and see the connections it's making right away .

I still have somewhere a windows-98 compatible Fujitsu motherboard from around 2006 and it was affected by this famous capacitor plague . Capacitor made by OST went bad (bulging, leaking) , blue coloured to be precise , near the RAM slots . I had to replace it with Philips capacitor Made in Holland , from the 1980s and it worked just fine.
-
I think he means that low power PSUs usually have a shorter lifespan because of the high load , for example caps in 650w PSU will last longer than in 350-400w under the same load. And yes , they get hotter , hence the capacitors will be worn out more quickly . Low-power PSUs have more problems with broken capacitors because they usually stuffed with 85 degrees caps and these will be off pretty quickly. There are some exceptions , of course , like Delta and FSP (I mean the old ones , not the newer cheaply made) .

That is the UI that looks the same on Windows 7 , so I assume that is exactly what developers wanted. Still that doesnt explain why Aero is NOT working in your case , I'm guessing you installed a ton of newish updates , ain't that right ? If you desperately need that precise version , you can try Application Verifier and set it to lie about Windows version , the instructions are one the page with KernelEx. It worked for win32 and many others (aero theme in browsers worked) That's my advice. Or revert Vista to smth like 2017.
-
I think Aero-styled buttons were available at 2.x.x versions only . I noticed they replaced the perfectly good Vista buttons starting from 3.x.x. with the ugly Win 10 buttons. It is strange about m4a though , I can play them fine .
-
Those aren't 'retro' , those are FLAT , 'modern' type , Win10 style . And on your pic. with Windows 7 is just an older version. I too have Win7 installed for testing purposes and they look EXACTLY the same with this version . Why did you assume that someone wanted to lie to you ? It's not the right attitude at all. Try an older version and you will get those Vista style buttons . The main point is Aero working and everything looks like it supposed to be. And don't be hostile, people are here to help , not to argue.

Would you recommend using Vista SP1 for internet on a relatively modern hardware in the nearest 10 years ? Thank you .
-
In your opinion, what are the best/worst versions of Microsoft Windows?
D.Draker replied to win32's topic in The Poll Center
You did it for Vista too ? Perhaps someone knows how to change the white background in folders without installing any themes , just the colour ? -
I think it's a fair warning , we should use Vista or Windows 2000 or even XP. Because Windows 7 is spying and not everyone is a tech savvy. https://www.hackread.com/microsoft-updates-spy-on-windows7-8-users/

Yep , works for me too.
