    Vista's media foundation and Direct2D are fully compatible with that purely DX11.0 game. Though, it's not the case with the latest patch, so I lowered down the version, patched a bit, DX11 loaded fine, so no troubles, except for the bloody text. I patched DWrite from the Platform Update and placed into the game directory, the error is gone, still no text, I even replaced the game fonts with a working ones from an older game, no result. WinSqmAddToStreamEx replaced with WinSqmAddToStream. These are undocumented: GetFontRealizationInfo GetFontFileData GetFontFileInfo https://github.com/MyTDT-Mysoft/DllCompat/issues/9 So I replaced with GetFontData. I even hooked it up with the new gdi32, then it just won't start at all, throwing out the generic 142 error. Before patching the log file was: [INFO]main() [INFO]Styles enabled [INFO]CApplication::CApplication() [INFO]Create options [INFO]Starting physics engine [INFO]Starting 3d engine [INFO]Selected adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan dx11\DspMainDX11.cpp [190] : error: Assertment failed! Message: Failed to initialize DirectWrite. Now it's without the last line. But no ingame text, strange, as I see the Dwrite module is loaded into the memory just fine. Yes, I still use that 11 years old videocard.

    Facebook is heavily dependent on IP, and will load its features (or not) accordingly. We don't know which country you're from, if you're from Russia, Iran, or North Korea, some (or all!) servers will surely be blocked, so it won't show you everything, if all. Try VPN. For me it works fine, I can't show the screen, I don't have an account, but I see the start page just fine, That said, I don't live in any of those countries. So try VPN and report back.

    I stopped at early 5 and don't even know what they looked like later. I only use software that support dark themes (for vampires). By any chance, what was the last good looking one for XP, without Windows 10 UI, but with dark theme? I see 5.5 from @Saxon's screenshot is fully white, which won't do for me. Thank you!

    It all depends on the place where you live and your ISP speed, for me it's instant, which is no wonder, since Holland has one of the fastest ISP providers, I'm sure the same is for @Dave-H. Try to test with uBlock ON!

    Is that a recent image? It also did for me, until recently. Now only Kafan does, but I don't use it, due to the bright theme, too bright.

    I did, IMDB and Twitter are much slower with 360, IMDB doesn't even render pages dark, even it's forced via flags, but Kafan does. Unfortunately now you won't be able to compare, since both sites demand accounts. Overall, I agree with you, Kafan isn't as good, as it could be.

    CF makes a series of fingerprints, and canvas isn't the main. They look at CH, WebGl, , System Fonts, Clientrects, IP, device CPU cores count, RAM amount, audio API fingerprint, even if you change the canvas, the rest will stay the same.

    @win32, hi! So I got the game working, mostly because I took an earlier version, that was easier to fight with, I overcame both errors, I now have no fonts in the game. I have a question, is it possible to take everything related to win7 platform update and use locally? So far, I was able to successfully port DWrite from the platform update for win7, it loads just fine, but no fonts shown in the game. Why platform update? It doesn't work with simple windows 7 files.

    Thank you, interesting observations. I am of the same opinion, it was fine up to 2015. I wonder if upgrading even makes sense.

    This time I decided to make a totally clean install again, just to launch Spellforce 3 Reforced, released in 2022. No missing dependencies, all looks good, but I'm awarded with this error. It's not a driver problem, the game starts just fine with the same driver on later OS. This happens with all versions of the Kernel. Ideas?

    @win32, as promised, the solution for both methods (local and normal), was to redirect Opera browser to the original non-modified shell32 from SP2 (modified in 2009). I forced the path through my starter app., (the one with the Opera icon, if you remember). Now dialogues open up just fine.

    Even so, still 32GB was the limit set by Microsoft for XP32 without SP2.

    In 2003-2004, I had a 4GB DDR (yes, simple DDR, not DDR2) notebook which came with preinstalled XP 32bit (without SP2). XP was able to use 32GB of RAM. Of course it could use all 4GB of its memory. When I "upgraded" to SP2, the amount of the usable RAM dropped to just 3.2, not to mention the terrible speed SP2 brought! I reverted back and never used SP2 again.

    Wrong, XP 32bit, before SP2, can use 32GB. But it's not the main subject, I'm waiting for the test results with 360EE.

    No, it does, with that limit it will never "see" all 4GB, assuming we talk about 2x2DDR2GB, which is era correct. You will get 3GB, or 3.2-3.5 - at best! If you use "memory remap" in BIOS. Also, if we talk about laptops, it will deduct the VRAM from RAM, resulting in even less amount, let's say 2.5GB, if you had a 512MB "right era" GPU.
