I'm not sure if .NET and Visual C++ is the cause of crackles and lags or not. I have noticed that my host XP will always play the cited video without dropping any single solitary frame! But the same EXACT 360Chrome v13.5.1030 from within inside VirtualBox v4.3.28 will drop FOUR frames for the cited video, that's correct, only FOUR - but playback is EXTREMELY choppy the ENTIRE SPAN of the video. The choppiness has nothing to do with "dropped frames". Playback is HORRIBLE from within VirtualBox despite NOT dropping frames!

You've admitted you don't even use this browser. So why even troll the thread? Most of us know who you are. I have no need to converse further. In other news, and to be BACK ON TOPIC without the "sideshow shenanigans" - I've found a way for the loader to "copy" files. This is handy on my setup because this enables me to make session-only changes inside one of my extensions. The ability to "copy" files reverts the extension to my default config before the browsing session. I'm still experimenting on the timing of the "copy", but in the [Functions] section you will have something like FileCopy=%Profile%\Default\1.txt|%Profile%\Default\2.txt Where 1.txt is the original file and 2.txt is the copy of 2.txt (edit) 1.txt.

I never play video on the computer any higher than 30fps! It is my perspective that anything higher on a COMPUTER is just ASKING for trouble. That's why my computer monitors cost $50 or so when my big screen TV costs $200 or so. And those are "cheap" by most people's standards. I am NOT a "gamer" and I don't have any use for the "high-dollar high-end" market. If you want 4k video on your computer, then you need to pay for a "gamer" system even though you don't play "games".

Are you using v13.5 build 2022? I am assuming that you are since we are in the 2022 thread. Can you try v13.5 build 1030 instead? It is very odd that I can play that ENTIRE video with ZERO dropped frames and throttle all the way down to 8 Mbps and yet you drop 1156 even at 360p. Also, you didn't cite how many processes you have running (unless I missed it, I see msfntor's post but not seeing yours).

That's good download speed. The higher, the better. I connect here at home at around 180 Mbps if on LAN (which I never use! I find wi-fi to be more "secure") but at 25 to 45 Mbps when on wi-fi (depending on how many devices are online). Anything over 25 Mbps seems more than adequate for 4k hi-res streaming. A dropped frame here or there doesn't mean too much, every dropped frame is not a crackle in audio or a lag in video, you have to drop DOZENS of frames "back to back" before you get a crackle or lag. The number of dropped frames is NOT IMPORTANT. The RATE at how fast you drop a frame IS important.

Open Developer Tools (F12) Go to Network Tab Click the "Online" dropdown that is on the second line Click the "Add..." at the bottom of the dropdown list Click "Add custom profile..." Set a Profile Name and set the Download speed Close the Network Throttling Profiles with the "x" in the upper right corner Click the "Online" dropdown on the second line again Select the profile you just added (will be in the "Custom" section) Refresh the tab for the settings to take place

V13.5 build 1030: ZERO dropped frames. And that was with me throttling my internet connection all the way down to 5 Mbps (edit - correction, I was throttling at 8 Mbps but the speed test was only showing a tad over 5 Mbps - point is, even that low, I had ZERO dropped frames) - Perhaps we should have started here - are you running any anti-virus? Or how about how many "processes" does your OS run? How many other tabs are open?

narrowing down my default browser for my Win10 setups

All so very true! If it weren't for my savings account web site and my water bill payment web site, I'd still be running Official PM 28.2.2 (December 2018) or perhaps even 27.9.4 (July 2018). -

Are you using anything to block remote fonts or anything like that? I have ZERO experience with RetroZilla, I only downloaded it just now just to see if i could duplicate your squares - but I cannot. -

Works for me. You're blocking fonts or something. -
narrowing down my default browser for my Win10 setups

Still not liking UBO even in this so-called "hard mode". In uMatrix, I can allow the IMAGE to come in from ibb.co (your Times screencap) without enabling javascript on the same domain that hosted the image. In UBO, once I allow the IMAGE, I also have to enable javascript and iframes from the same domain that hosted the image, it's "all or nothing". I do not trust a site to serve me javascript just because I decide to trust the cite to send me a screencap. Not really an issue for the MSFN example, but a GIGANTIC issue "out in the wild". -

I'll be testing with UBO when I get home. When I last used UBO, I was thoroughly UNIMPRESSED relative to uMatrix. That MAY have changed. -

Yep, I'm aware. But I seem to recall Gorhill also stating that this was "unfortunate". UBO is taylored for the folks that don't want to be bothered with granular control. I'll take the granular "nuisance" and the peace of mind that comes with it. I do not like "trusting" OTHER PEOPLE'S "lists", which is the whole paradigm behind UBO.
