How to make Microsoft Security Essentials work to it's max protection?
caliber replied to NojusK's topic in Windows XP
is it still supported by M$ ?? the latest version requires Net 4.5+ MSE is totally crap to me, it was light and pretty much fast when I had it running long years ago till I got infected with sality type virus and I ended up uninstalling it forever because it was unable to kill that virus. with Avast it took me a few clicks. Now I use my brain as anti virus and when I feel the system is slowing down or something weird I just check with Malwarebytes -
can you see over 4GB of RAM with your installer ? I have to re install XP once again because I have not made any backup of the patched files.

I have done the test on another computer with XP that has never been updated. it's just a fresh XP install from the CD with nothing else.

My Browser Builds (Part 1)
caliber replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
''The problem is that reCaptcha started using javascript functions not available on older browsers, they should send different scripts depending on browsers version but they are lazy and decided to stop supporting older browsers. There is not much we can do, your only choice is to use a newer browser but that will need a newer OS. Micro$oft is going to start forcing windows 7 users to upgrade to windows 10, they actually pay money to game developers to create games only compatible with windows 10, thats the way it works. Sooner or later we all get wasted.'' -

what sites do you test Basilisk in, in order to determine it's running excellent ? everytime anyone says this I go on facebook site and start scrolling down all over my ''timeline'' and I can tell you I think otherwise. -

now that M$ Edge and Brave (Firefox founder) are switching to Chromium engines I wonder how long will Firefox resist within Google monopoly. -

I don't use Borealis at all. it's there just in case I need it for testing it must be a nightmare for @roytam1 of having to update multiple browsers at a time I think he should focus on Palemoon and Basilisk only and make them as reliable and fast as possible -

I don't know what is the google's algorithm, sometimes with 1 attempt it's done sometimes it needs 5 or 6 depending on the website. I usually click upon 3 pictures, sometimes with 2 is enough and sometimes there is nothing related to the description. with Palemoon it's pretty much comfortable to solve captchas but with Firefox it's very stressing because of the browser slowness -

I don't have such a thing. this is the site I was refering to https://notre-siecle.com/tests-de-capsules-compatibles-pour-les-machines-a-cafe-nespresso/ when you try to leave a comment at the bottom it shows up this message ''ERROR: You have selected an incorrect reCAPTCHA value'' as far as the other forum the captcha is working well now..... -

I have had an issue on another forum when trying to get registered because the captcha was not visible to me. I have tested different web browsers under XP and no one was able to see the captcha, with W7 I had no problem though. today I got a similar issue when trying to leave a comment on another site, the captcha was invisble even though ublock was disabled. has anyone suffered from anything similar ? -
2006 ? I have been using it for long time before.... the WMP10 has better appearance than the WMP9 and I don't like the WMP11 either as said above MPH-HC and Kazaa codecs pack are a must. in addition you may also consider this thing http://madvr.com/

this is one of the many reasons why I have never donated a single cent to Mozilla company they don't want to provide official support anymore... it's OK they have erased the developers labor of thousands of hours over the years and want to force me to stay up to date... it's incomprehensible. sooner or later the Windows updates servers for XP will get shut down as well. @roytam1 we count on you. you are our hope ! -

on facebook site PM28 often runs at 30% and the site is almost unusable when I have a few open tabs., not sure if this issue already existed on the previous versions. I wonder if the hardware has anything to do ? I use AMD quad core as my main PC but I also have a i5 and i7 desktop computers, although I have not tested them with PM. -

just like Android root apps they are made by the chinese it's a good way to infect phones with spyware in order to sole your data I once had and issue on Maxthon and a person from their customer support department wanted to solve my issue through Team Viewer connection, yep he wanted to get access to my PC from CHINA Maxthon browser is running on the background by default when you boot up your PC or even though you close it down, the msconfig command may prevent this.

it depends on what you compare the Basilisk to. it's faster than Firefox 52 for sure but it's kind of a snail compared to the other versions that are not compatible with XP it's not just a matter of extra work but the programs used by developers get renewed and do not support XP anymore that makes it impossible to code anything for XP. -

totally agree with every single word. the main target for experienced hackers attacks is the most used OS that's why WannaCry and other well known ransomware viruses started through W7 based computers. I have been recently asked by a software maker why am I still using XP... as I don't use any antivirus I actually don't care if the POSready updates will no longer be available within 5 months. I just am afraid if the FF addons ever get removed from their site so I need to find a way to back up them all https://www.trishtech.com/2018/10/use-older-firefox-extensions-through-classic-add-ons-archive/ I have pretty much found software alternatives for my needs so I can live with XP for a long time ahead.
