My Browser Builds (Part 3)
dmiranda replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Hi, chermany4ever. Welcome. mypal and roytam1's projects are quite distinct. I would not expect that what works in sp52-55 or nm27-28 would transpose to mypal. As you can see in this thread (and previous ones) there is plenty of collective knowledge on addons and mods for sp52-55 or nm27-28 (and a bit about KM and other roytam1's projects). None for mypal, however, although some of what is said here may apply. To assist you better, what flavor of the projects supported/discussed in this thread (sp52-55, nm27-28) are you using? Be aware, as well, that despite what is being mouthed off by a notoriously incontinent mofo, it seems there are currently two (very recent) forks of feodor's mypal in github: https://github.com/artenaki/Mypal and https://github.com/curoviyxru/Mypal. Still no commits, but I wouldn't despair. Cheers! -

I do not understand Feodor's moves -hopefully, he'll read some of what was said. But I am sure roytam1 won't fall for the same bs. -

... is that it is a pile of bull crap. With all due respect. As a follow up, that setting gets reverted, somehow, over time. To completely stop it you need the following: user_pref("captivedetect.canonicalURL","127.0.0.1"); // set user_pref("captivedetect.maxRetryCount", 0); // set user_pref("captivedetect.maxWaitingTime", 0); // set user_pref("captivedetect.pollingTime", 0); // set //set meaning that you have to enter about:config and set the specific items manually. user.js doesn't work for them. -

Huming Owl V9 used to be quite solid, but I have kept his V13 (and am now trying Artic's 12) for backup when something fails on bs52.- 2,340 replies

Using a chrome derivative is inviting spyware, something that I have no problem doing for MS-APP-GG-FB products. I really like the sound quality of the V13s, so I don't mind at all. They may as well spy each other while they look at me using their products. For the rest, well, use linux, and then tails. PS: what DNS do we use, I wonder :P- 2,340 replies

Actually, the third and fifth links in my google (nrc and local respectively) points to msfn. https://www.peteyvid.com/ is a nice find. Thanks.- 2,340 replies

Well, I have kept a slim and stable nlited XP since mid-2005. Only since 2017 have I been forced to show face, given the still premature declaration of XP death. When that fails (which is not yet certain, I'm still fighting for the sake of it) Mint with XP (for office) in Xen is next I own that XP mofo, and don't care for any kind of guarantee.- 2,340 replies

My badness! That is gotta be quite the cacophony By definition, all our set ups are nlited f***ups. So variation is warrantlessly inevitable.- 2,340 replies

Well, YT is a b***h. If a browser can handle three YT tabs (basilisk 52 with e10s enabled often can't) it can handle (mostly) everything else.- 2,340 replies

I don't think that is feasible. The only reason I use their derivatives is because they are adapted by people like @roytam1. Their demeanor and practice is just despicable. With all due respect, and quoting them, butthurt mofos, obviously. -
Last version of smplayer in XP seems to be 21.1.0.0 shipping (as in current noncompatible smplayer version) mplayer 1.3.0.0 mplayer 1.4 doesn't seem to run on XP.

I missed this one. Yup, it is not constant. In my set up, your last V13, and Humming Bird's V9 and V13 consistently allow me to run 2 YT tabs. Humming Bird's V13 allow me to run 3 YT tabs. In all cases, continued use results (eventually) in tab crashes. I keep thinking most of these crashes in YT are cookie related, but it is most noticeable (almost inevitable, I would say) when using other sites that use DX (I reckon), or when running YT concurrently in basilisk and chrome.- 2,340 replies

First rule of testing: test vanilla. If it works, add extensions, or use with already polluted profile.- 2,340 replies

More stable as in it can run three YT tabs at the same time (and then some) unlike all previous V13 ones (including all of your builds).- 2,340 replies
