  1. Dimio software rules. Dsynchronize (works perfectly in XP) is the best, btw.
  2. It works. Times being what they are, I hope that is so for the best :P
  3. All right. I have been testing for a week or so. It may make a difference with many tabs up. I'll stick with the latest. Thank you ArticFoxie.
  4. Quite interesting. Unfortunately I don't seem able to download anything earlier than 2020-09. Thanks, ArticFoxie.
  5. Referent to the conversation around what version of the builds to use: which basilisk 52 do you guys who benchmark recommend? I have been using the last version but the loading lag is growing, which I assume may be a function of the scripts used in current pages, but may also be a function of the build. Just wondering.
  6. I have 5.2.38 running. I dont know if it would work with all OS, though.
  7. Copy that. Pspad works perfectly. I guess that solves my choice.
  8. IT runs with no problem, but many times it says "the file doesnt exist" when opening using double click. Opening from inside notepad++ (file>open) works fine, even identifying the relevant directory from which the failed double clicked file was originally launched. If anyone has had this issue and have solution, please share it. Cheers!
  9. Try https://www.winhelponline.com/xp/defaultbrowser.htm
  10. Ur the boss, mate. It works fine.
  11. Is ublock 1.17.2 working for you? In my case it is blocking, but the interface to block and see what is being blocked is empty... Basilisk 52 last version.
  12. Thanks. I made it work with SMplayer, but after some changes. I have the last version (19.10) portable, but the MPV version on it doesn't work in XP. So I went to older versiones and found that the MPV version included in SMplayer 17.3.0 does the trick. Kept looking around, and made it work in VLC 3.08 (not portable). Go to https://raw.githubusercontent.com/videolan/vlc/master/share/lua/playlist/youtube.lua and copy into a text file that you have to save as YOUR-VLC-FOLDER\\lua\playlist\youtube.lua. Works beautifully, as all good things gotta be. Cheers. PD1: attached the settings.ini for SMplayer (portable version) that goes in the root folder. Unfortunately, the streaming stops at the add. But I guess some more tweaking may do the trick. smplayer.ini
  13. Interesting. You simply enter the app? Can you share an example?
  14. The trick is to block internet access to CCleaner. You can do so with any freeware firewall still working on XP. For instance, privatefirewall7.0
  15. Hi, FYI, last version 2020-03-07 of palemoon27 is phoning home to 104.22.13.159, palemoon.org
  16. Last time I got nailed was the "all your bases are belong to us" thinghie, because of my unwise use of a proxy app that doesn't exist anymore. This was back in the early dubya years. Awful thing to see Saddam Hussein laughing at you telling you "all your bases are belong to us", lemme tell you.
  17. No idea really. I haven't seen a nag or annoying add for years, neither on my XP desktop, beyond the occasional testing in a VM, not everywhere else, including my android. Call me lucky if you want. Download the last portable (5.5?) version, that is all there is to it.
  18. Unless there is a ccleaner portable version, I won't use it or recommend the installer version. It is nagware, at least. I will stick with the current functionality in 5.63.7540, and keep updating the software included for cleaning using ccenhancer at https://singularlabs.com/software/ccenhancer/
  19. Looking around the page below (I use fileoptimizer every now and then), saw this thing: https://nikkhokkho.sourceforge.io/static.php?page=PatchPE Supposedly, " PatchPE is a patcher for PE executable headers, that could make them compatible with older versions of Windows. Additionaly it enables LAA (Large Address Aware) attribute to the EXE, so it can take advantage of allocating more than 2 GB. of physical memory. Recent linkers, use to add latest versions on the headers, so, you can find programs that are marked to work only on Windows 10, but once patched, they can work in Windows XP, or even 2000 or NT." Has anybody tried it?
  20. The phoning back to PM from mailnews stopped. Thanks!.
  21. Mailnews 2019-11-16 is contantly phoning palemoon: IP Server: 209.222.17.76. I have it blocked in my firewall, but it fills my log of garbage. Just sayin Serpent 2019-12-07 breaks addons "open with edge, Ie, chrome and more 4.0.0" and "profile switcher 1.7.7"
  22. EXTENSIONS: Somebody in the previous thread suggested using uacontrol-0.1.3.1.1. It works well, at least on sites I use, and makes it easier to change settings fast and easy. With the last versions of serpent52, the zotero addon zotero-4.0.29.25 ceases to work altogether. Up to October, I could still save media to the database, even if I could not see the entries. Now it wont start. In pm27 it still works, but doesn't show icons.
  23. Skype is now forcing version 8, which doesnt work in xp anymore. The only way around is webskype on browser (I use roytam1's New Moon basilisk52), adding to about:config a new string with: general.useragent.override.skype.com; Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/73.0.3683.103 Safari/537.36 For more info (and browser alternatives) check http://www.skaip.org/skype-for-web-on-windows-xp-and-windows-vista
  24. To the first point, yeah. I would not use anything that is not open source these days, and then open source whose coders behave and write as such. I use xp because I own the mofo and do not care for the guarantee. For reasons that have to do with how I filter my traffic, as well, and for his transparency, I trust ryotan1's code -until proven otherwise, that is . As per the browsers in that list, the one I tried was Maxthon: portable is useless, installed it took over the firewall to adjust, I figure , the settings of the VM. I didn't care for that -and luckily no rootkit attached, I guess, I guess. The second point, yeah, too. I loved firefox when it didn't grow new versions by the 10s, and until it shut the doors on those who had collaborated for years with the project and were left out. Deja vu from the last years of netscape, sort of. Silly move from silicon valley wannabe mentality. As per the third point, the persistence of xp shows (blatantly) both that market power has not yet taken over the world -completely- and that abandoning xp is not technologically necessary. I watch all I want whenever I want, and do most office work in the environment I like and have tweaked to my needs over the years: xp. Also, check the tree of this forum: people are howling from windows 98! https://msfn.org/board/forum/8-windows-9xme I remember back then that I thought of remaining there. But xp was so much better, yet equally tweakable, that I moved on without updates other than the ones provided by this community -and related ones. I will keep using the dinghy till the end is nite, I reckon.
