Remember with Mozilla if you do not have the ciphers disabled and new ones created in the OMNI.jar then the ciphers will not be employed. If you go to HowsMySSL.com this will see what ciphers are employed in your browser. My modded greprefs.js makes a fair bit of a difference. You need to up the size of direct DMA as I have said a few times. All tweaks should be done, make the machine as use settings of a server for example. >>There is transparency support in 9x only for composting icons shown in the file system, hence the few utilities available to exploit it. There is no such transparency support for compositing windows and XP settings of KernelEx won't help with that. I do not agree just yet. Games use transparency in many occasions. Direct Show means that Quartz.dll is employed in the process. I would not use that codecs Bruninho even though it installs unless you have latest KEX I do not think it will work. All you need as Loblo has said with latest KEX is LAV filters. FFdshow filters do not decode x265. x265 needs more CPU power though. -

It is the embedded video again on page 16 that upsets posting here. It did work last time I edited post though. Posted this from page 15. -

I can not post or update on MSFN forum now with Opera 12. Can other members still use Win98/ME for posting here still with Opera 12? I think that Mozilla and Opera intertwine in the Registry settings and this is what might have happened to my build or server changes again. Other thing I have to watch is reg settings transferring to the wrong drive when rebooting. BIOS is responsible with this. Usually from IDE to SCSI if drives are too similar. "Opera was trialware and had to be purchased after the trial period ended. Version 5.0 (released in 2000) saw the end of this requirement. Instead, Opera became ad-sponsored, displaying advertisements to users who had not paid for it. Later versions of Opera gave the user the choice of seeing banner ads or targeted text advertisements from Google." Wiki. Opera 12 is still supported with latest update 12.18 2016. Opera 12 is a good mail client and can access all mail servers at the moment, that is it downloads all mail. Ironic though when I go to get more info some web servers/ports may not allow access. Mozilla client is now a good choice also with Roytam's files. Corrected, I restored registry back a few days, used only one HDD, reinstalled an Opera backup copy and I can post again in MSFN. So ignore first paragraph about it. -

Loblo, as you can see the recycle bin icon is transparent. This is code written by Tihiy that utilizes the extra functions in User32.dll unique to Win98/ME. See https://msfn.org/board/topic/131040-revolutions-pack-97/?do=findComment&comment=842079 If code is written for WinXP then KernelEx may need XP setting for the transparency to work. This is what I experienced with the program that produced a Rathole in the desktop. Opera does not run with XP settings though. Rathole.exe was a game/program that produced a small square location in the display released in WinNT that the mouse pointer and everything else disappeared when over the small square. -

You do not need new browsers just yet with YouTube so I do not think it has anything to do with changing UA as if using too high a UA then the page does not render correctly: - with CometBird9 mainly whitish areas so the server is sending back the shorthand version of the page; that new HTML version. I had a look at his files and I think it was a co-incidence that it worked when he tested it. Opera still worked on certain highly viewed videos and once going, auto loading next video kept on working. The problem with this was I did not want to watch what was being feed. I tested a month or two ago. Once I left it sitting not playing then an ad started up and yes it worked but I could not repeat this and only plays what is in the video feed line. -

Loblo, the transparency program created a Rat Hole in the desk top so I removed it and a bit hard to get back. I uploaded a recycle bin transparent icon for example instead. It is RP9 but not all functioning here. The web site in the above video does not have the files where he gets them from. -
NVidia Quadro FX 5500 and others - your experience?

I don,t hold much hope either. I think it is how lucky we are on getting a good card. My 7800GTX was damaged too much to work it just worked with a 32bit driver system :-Win7 but then could short out when getting hotter. I wasted money with the drivers listing that 8800GTX and other cards were installable. I guess a lot of other people did as well. -

Goodmaneuver replied to Nikitastepanov's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
If 32 bit then 3GB is all the RAM it can use later 32 bit systems have reserved RAM for the last 1GB if 4GB is installed. -

Yes but WinME made several important improvements and 500MB graphic cards are not a problem. -

The skinning in the email works good except the section above the email is not working, black after reloading Opera. This header section is a general information section about the open email. The MSFN width issue is a CSS mod done on the server I think done for older browsers. See here https://msfn.org/board/topic/179074-page-is-narrower-on-large-screen/?do=findComment&comment=1165897 Xper fixed it for Jody next few posts. Xper gave him an up-vote when Jody asked "Oh Yeah! Thanks Xper....lol. So it was an actual issue then?" >>As for your MSFN width issue, a CSS issue IMO, perhaps originating from mixing 12.18 files if you did that. I did not report here about it at first because I was using 12.02 - no 12.18 files when I first came across this width issue. When I went back to the 12.18 build then the same thing was happening. I do regret posting about a vertical shearing affect that only occurred on one build and only with ATI cards. -

Yes, if you have 4.5.2 installed all is needed is to replace the files. No need to use DOS, safe mode will do. I have discovered that Opera when viewed in window mode then the view of MSFN forum is like 2019 when the window is 1024 pixels wide & 100% Opera page setting. If the window is increased a little then the posts widths 1/2. If Opera page is zoomed a little then the max window width can increase proportionately without the shrinking of posts. Loblo, I have mentioned posting which is full width I did not answer as expected with this, posts on my system are as in this 1920 wide screen shot. As you can see I was not using your Opera skin I think yours might have an issue when Opera is used as a email client. I am using the 12.18 files in this build. The speed dial worked as expected with your skinning. Transparency can work you know. I have removed the program that this worked on and KEX had to be set to XP mode. I will find again and show you. -

Opera should fix itself in the user profile see here https://msfn.org/board/topic/178283-how-you-really-browse-the-web-on-98me-in-2019/?do=findComment&comment=1177591. Once you have Opera running again then reboot and then revisit the news site. The fonts can be changed in Mozilla in Tools Options Content and you may need to update some fonts. I am using Cambria and also in View Character Encoding I am using Unicode (UTF-8). -

The 1GB memory might be a problem with the Quadro FX 5500 but the 7950 GX2 has 500MB each and works as though only 500MB. I use 500MB cards no trouble in WinME. A test will be made soon without the water blocks just hope it boots up again. -

I should have said "I know that you have discovered that DirectX does not load in Virtual Machine but ....". I do not know why this would be the case. If DDhelp.exe is not running then program menus can be not displayed properly. Bruninho, can you test some games on VM because perhaps the menu not displaying in Mozilla could still be related to having no direct draw. Video card memory could also be the blame for this phenomenon. I ran everything flat out years ago on a card that was not fully working to play DVDs on a AMD K6 machine. Eventually the menus were just straight lines. The card was not full bus toggling though if you understand what I am taking about. -
NVidia Quadro FX 5500 and others - your experience?
Goodmaneuver replied to ragnargd's topic in Windows 9x/ME
I have run the 7950 GX2 on Win7 and tested games against single models like GeForce 9800. It is a good video card and does not involve the external SLI hardware and so games do not seem to need be programmed for SLI to gain benefits. Here is a quote from WIKI. "The 7950 GX2 requires only a single PCIe power connector, in contrast to the twin-connectors of its predecessor; technically, this is understandable, as there is no need for a ring bus configuration – frames need only be passed on to the primary GPU". I think it is a good choice but I want to add water cooling blocks to the GPUs which I have none at the moment and this will take me some time but I might test it soon but not bench it just yet. It uses less power than Radeon X1900 XT. -

Quadro FX5600 nearest equivalence is GeForce 8800GTX which is not compatible. I might be able to test a GeForce 7950 GX2 which would be the best card if it works. The bottom GPU suffers from heating too much though and I was going to modify the heat-sinking before testing. Quadro FX 4500 X2 is similar both have G71 chip. -

Important: I have made a mistake, sorry everyone, I assumed and did not follow Jumpers instructions correctly. I have uploaded the Core.ini to Jumpers specifications. The only consequences would be if using Win95 setting even then may not make a difference to original upload. Jumper, please explain how the default mode has changed, do you mean DCFG1? -

Opera needs a Win2K setting and I use do not use in child process as if loading programs from within the browser you do not want all programs to run with Win2K, examples are Acrobat Reader, MP4 files etcetera. If you do not have Opera set to a 2K setting then the menu does not work. I have it set to Windows 2000 SP4 (Multi-Threaded) in this build I am replying with now. BTW I did not need to log in when changing drives just now. Bruninho: The black border, I think it is designed that way. It is a luxury to have the tab preview. The little white arrow at the top is nearly as thick as the border. SM2.6 HTTPS crash; did you try going through Bing or Yahoo search to a encrypted site? US Yahoo last time I checked was unencrypted but au.yahoo.com is. Server settings can be different in each country. -

USP10.dll should be in the system folder. Originally NT based operating systems were not the best for games, they will not play Extreme G2 for example. -

I know that Opera 12 does not load DirectX in Virtual Machine. If you load the Google search in Opera first then close Opera then Google search will work in Mozilla otherwise use Yahoo search engine as it is only the search engine that plays up not HTTPS sites in particular. I do not get the font error in the GUI but it will happen if USP10 is not working. USP10 usually needs KEX dissabed. Win2K is not good for retro gaming see here https://msfn.org/board/topic/130936-kernelex-452/?do=findComment&comment=1160623 -

>what should I do? Just drop the Core.ini? Yes replace the other Core.ini then reboot. >7-zip, I dont get the icons for the .7z files. I think I need to associate them Associate them within the 7zip program. LAVFilters in the next post from Loblo's in WonderBar's topic, the MSFN S/C has in the site I showed for LAV33 & 50 has most releases & can choose up to 70.2-16. Reg KEX entries depend on what file versions you are using but I think older versions would be KEX setting compatible with the newer versions, The entries in this topic are a start. >but google.com isn't a heavy site! If the servers do not like the browser then they can block access. When I change hard drives which have slightly different builds and different browser profiles, I have to log on to MSFN forum each time. When my limit of 5 logons failed. I was locked out for a few minutes which is normal but I was also locked out of all internet connections no web browsing at all. I had local network OK through to the network drive. I loaded a different build and had internet access again. Yahoo search engine should work. If you use Opera 12 first with Google search then SM2.7.2 should work afterwards it is like the user agent at first is not compatible. -

It is not advisable to merge KEX settings. The registry is running in RAM and is in a special order. If we export the KernelEx AppSettings settings delete the entries then sort the exported reg file entries in alphabetically order for instance in each section then merge back again, a system restore will probably be necessary, it will not work. Manually added registry entries need to be done or use the file properties KernelEx drop-down menu. You can merge a good copy of AppSettings into a deleted AppSettings section if order of entries have not been altered. Merging without deleting first is on track to make conflicts happen. A reg file can be made from NotePad if first line has REGEDIT4 then next line usually is blank or use an exported file and empty out unwanted entries then fill in new ones. Keep well. -

Important: I have MP4 files set to open KMP in CometBird so Pncrt can not be used as a MSVCRT substitute in CometBird because Msvcp60 gets involved and Pncrt has not got __lc_collate_cp. Hence Pncrt if used as Msvcrt will be in memory from CometBird. I will edit my post shortly. I have uploaded Core.ini version 20 which is current version with the mods Jumper wanted though Win95 setting is enhanced with several functions yet de-enhanced by removing IsProcesorFeaturePresent I think it is a conflict of improvement and de-improvement since Win98+ was meant to be backward compatible with Win95. By opening Regedit.exe the KernelEx settings are here [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KernelEx\AppSettings] We need to make a manual adjustment when we want to make a group of files use the same setting. For example *\MSVC* = BASE. There are two sections; the Configs section; this is where the specific mode changes are and the Flags section; this is where the disabled and override modes are set in DWORD. Make sure when adjusting the Configs section with a new String Value that there are no other conflicts. For example files count as the having the same name, (ie MCVCP60 is equivalent name as MSVC* for example), and having two different Configs settings is a conflict. You can not also have for example a file set to run say as NT40 and a Flags setting of 1 which is a more common error to search for. Entries with Flags setting of zero can be removed for clean up purposes. CORE.zip -

Thanks Loblo for your upload. It is exactly the same as mine. The date change for mine was probably done when I saved my profile last time. The narrow width view is more complex but I believe it would be the profile differences or country specific server differences. It is interesting how your Google search looks like a modern Opera by the sound of it. My search is centered in the middle of page not to the left. Your posting is the same as mine about 1280 wide at 100% zoom. Deomsh, I tried Kiosk mode, good to find out about it. MSFN looks the same though compared to normal mode. The only response from the keyboard was Alt + F4. These settings are made automatically when Opera enters kiosk mode: - "Quoted, minus a few OS specific." Start-up dialogs are not shown Full-screen mode is enabled by default All toolbars are disabled The application bar is disabled Panels remain accessible Opening links in new pages and in the background is disabled Speed Dial is disabled Users cannot exit full-screen mode by pressing Esc Direct access to the system and other programs is denied through blocking of application keys and system keys on Windows Ctrl+Esc is disabled Alt+Tab is disabled Alt+Escape is disabled The Help function is disabled -

Loblo, could you keep a copy of your application data profile of Opera. In my case I keep a copy of the Opera program folder as I am using the 12.18 files. It will probably be the browser.js that makes the difference mine has changed at 31/01/2019. My browsers have succumb to Google's mobile search view for some time now has your Opera got full width on Google search? It might be easier if you could post the browser.js for us? Siria, A web article said to make up a opera ***user.js file and place in the profile next to browser.js for GreaseMonkey mods to work in Opera. Not all code is totally compatible though & there are articles out there https://github.com/mislav/user-scripts/blob/master/toolkit/gm_functions.js I believe this one is written for Opera, it may give some clues. This has to be done also, force Opera to use the new JS file here https://www.ghacks.net/2008/08/10/greasemonkey-in-opera/ All we need is the first part of your coding for Opera to view full width again - (if it is viewing 1/2 width), the rest of the code is important for CometBird9 down to the FireFox2 only part. Other info https://simply-how.com/enhance-and-fine-tune-any-web-page-the-complete-user-scripts-guide & http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/operaStuff/userJavaScript.html . ViolentMonkey for Presto here https://github.com/violentmonkey/violentmonkey-oex Bruninho, What web site gives the wrong font family? I think you need to update fonts? I made a mistake SeaMonkey does not need 2K settings. Are you OK about changing KEX registry settings and the alteration to Core.ini?
