I think than my problem is not NIC specific, is something wrong with whole networking, i really dont want to reinstall.. its last option, it would be days before i got system configured as i want. It could happend, during installation, i got some freezes during it, so maybe files are copied in Windows directory before they are moved to Windows\System and i got freeze between.. Hi, i have problem with X58 MB networking, i tried 3 different NIC - PCI-E one (Broadcom 5721M), PCI one (Realtek 8139), USB Lan (Assix 88772A i has Win98 driver) one.. which i are proven to work with Win98 in other machine. But always get: Ping {hostname} // unknown host ping {ip addree} // Ping: transmit failed, error code 10043 I never get network login screen after NIC installation reboot. In network panel is: Client of MS network TCP/IP // I tried Fixed or Dynamic IP adress, DNS.. Gateway setting, they are fine. NIC No exclamation marks in System, or on NICs. When i open Control Panel Network and click ok, i always get Dialog to point path to svrapi.dll, i insert path, file is found - i got reboot dialog, but after reboot its the same. I tried to copy this file from Windows 98 clean installation too, is the same. With other OSes NICs are working fine. Any clue, what can be wrong and what i should to do?

I tried to select best MB for multiboot system, but there are compromises.. so my MB has Intel LAN (Win7/10 + MacOS compatible), instead more compatible Realtek one. As far, as i know there are not Realtek external PCI-E Gigabit cards, which are compatible with Win 98, so i have to use additional Broadcom card for Win98 /XP.. i would be nice, i could use it only for Win98.. Less cables switching, or i have seems to Win 98 compatibile USB LAN Assix 88772A.. its only 100 Mbit, but with it could save 1 PCI-E slot (for multiboot system you have never enough slots). I also not sure if Win98 will work on this board (longsthot), so if i would have Intel Lan driver for XP - i could live without cable switching.. I have other MB with Z97 Intel Lan too, here i dont have Win98, so if Intel LAN would work i dont need cable switching at all.

Hello, i dunno why, but in XP with Nvidia Geforce 970 modified driver, i can enable only 2 monitor, not 3. All 3 monitors are working fine in other OSes and i see in Nvidia panel all 3 of them, but i can enable only 2 of them at the time. Is there any hack for that? Can other cards from ATI for example do 3 monitors? Its XP limitation, or Nvidia laziness?

New, installation, i have space, for it.. but i will loose my configured system settings, if i would want to replicate all settings, i will spend 2 weeks with it. I know not related, but its Bios thing too, so.. Are you able to modify Bios to run PCI-E Gen1 graphics cards? So far, every i have tested (Radeon X600, Geforce 7300, Geforce 6600) was ignored and computer. I know that some other boards even X99 have this problem too. When i try to set primary GPU slot to slot which Gen1 cards, card is just ignored and machine is booting from 1st slot Geforce 970 right away.. Such card would be better for Dos Compatibility, which is running somehow even with G970 and i can try the lack with Win98 - with external Sata controller and with new Rloew patch, someone made at least Z170 running, so maybe, maybe this MB could make it too.. Second problem is Intel 218 / 219 LAN no XP driver. I have too use additional Broadcom 5721M NIC, which is not ideal, because it eats PCI-E slot and there not MacOS drivers (i have MacOS too on this machine).

Its really necessary? I have my tuned 10 years+ old installation, it was able to survive at least 5 Mainboard upgrades, so i dont want too do it, only because of some exclamation marks..

It seems to be fixed, i used MS Utilital fixer and ordered installed programs from oldest and tried if uninstall can be executed, if dont i uninstalled program.. There was probably something broken from old Win7 install, which was upgraded to Win10.

Hello, i made XP working with Z370 with your help (i had to heaviely modify ISO, insert Fernando and Network drivers, setup network, PS/2 were not working at all, so i had to make machine working through remote desktop..,), now its working quite good - LAN/AUDIO/Video/USB2/3.. except no ACPI automatic shutdown (im not able to boot with ACPI machine type, i had to use MIPS multiprocessor type of machine) and probably not too much power savings.. but i still have some mess in device manager, some devices with exclamation marks + on unknown device, i hope that you will help me to fix it, or at least tell for what these devices are for.. and what means that they are not working. Error is always code 12 - Device not found enough of resources (this error was typical for WIn 98, but for XP its strange..) Ok i have finnally time to XP on Z370, i can confirm that both on board and addition USB 3 (ASM 1142) + USB3 are working (unfortunally only 2 ports on card, as these are quite expensive for just additional USB port, i ordered cheaper version for testing), but i have problem with Renesas / Nec controller - code 10, im using 21.8.2012 driver / 3.0.23.0 version, i will upload details later, im in hurry.. I still have some system devices with Exclamation mark, it can be connected, but i will try some VIA 805/806 controller too - if you have some proven drivers pleas share them.

Hello, i have another installation process is running (msiexec.exe) problem with, every boot, i have to kill it to make installer working, how i do discover what execution it? Which installation it is? Is somewhere some log or how i get parameters with which is process executed? I have this problem for quite long time, on one machine.

I dont thing so, because i have runtime on all other computers and i dont thing that this update was installed on them. My guess are some registry keys left overs or something like that.. but i dunno if somewere real technical description why is some update triggered. Hello, its somewhere info, why some Windows updates are installed, what exactly trigger their installation? I have some problem even with Windows 7 x64, before Windows 10 update. Some Visual Studio 2005 Vista update is continually trying to install and failing.. As far as i know, i dont have installed any VS 2005 component, only VS 2005 runtimes for games. Hello, i managed to get installed XP on Z370 MB - https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z370-AORUS-Gaming-7-rev-10#kf , but USB3 is PITA, only 1 Asmedia on board USB3.1 port are working. Intel USB3 is not supported. I tried VIA 8xx USB and other Asmedia PCI-E controllers, but both are not working some error code in Device manager.. Sorry im not in machine location, but is something like Code 10 or Code 12, device is not working, on part of driver is not working.. Controller worked with other machine and are working with Windows 7/10.. so problem are XP drivers.. Etron and Renesas arent available outside of US on Ebay with reasonable price, what you thing about Fresco FL1100 its not cheap - 20 bucks? Or is there some other good USB3 controller manufactor?
