  1. Scandisk does not have an issue with the 137 gig limit issue. If that was the case I would not have been able to install Me on my aspire one. EDIT: Nor would I be able to run a scandisk check on it.
  2. Hello and welcome to MSFN forum
  3. Sounds like he need the large hard drive patch http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/78592-enable48bitlba-break-the-137gb-barrier/ . It doesn't matter if you partition a big hard drive to useable sizes, you would still get memory errors.
  4. I have tails on a flash drive. The biggest difference between Tails and Whonix is there standpoint. Tails is a portable secure OS while Whonix is not. Another thing to note would be that while both are secure and privacy oriented, Whonix is the most secure and safest of the two. (Whonix is over kill in privacy) Here is a little neat list comparing the two (the tails info is from 0.16, but the basics should be correct) https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Comparison_with_Others#Introduction
  5. Your apology is accepted, for I knew you did not mean it.
  6. Thank you, but I already know about that. No I have not tried to boot in a VM yet, but I did have issues with dvd's and my computer before so that is a very possible (Most likely) answer. (I use imgburn just to throw that out there) I'll try in a VM, and will report here later.

  8. As the title states, I'm struggling to install OpenBSD/amd64 on my hp pavilion p6510y. My goal is to dual boot it with my windows vista (64 bit), but when I plop my DVD in it just constantly brings up a bunch of random letters. (the letters you get with a corrupted hard drive except it doesn't make a long list, but randomly generates, letter at the cursor). My HP pavilion has a AMD Anthlon ll x4 (2.80 gh) processors, which is why I downloaded the OpenBSD/amd64. Do not the harddrive is not corrupt for I tried multiple hard drives, and accidentally the one with vista .
  9. That is the issue with Linux. The support cycles are so d@mn fast (for the OS "distros", and the software). Personally I am making the jump from Linux, to BSD (except for Whonix this linux distro is too good). I'll be particularly moving to Open BSD.
  10. He probably is, and that is why I trust his client with my stuff.
  11. Its the smart thing to do. I only use the cloud, so I can have a spare "usb drive" in a sense. Also it is encrypted so they, or prying eyes don't sneak on my stuff (which isn't important just blender stuff). The only other reason I trust this particular cloud service is because it is made/run by Kim Dotcom. And I would, believe that he would things that he does (or runs) to be very very secure
  12. The robot was such a stupid little that it got stuck to my mind and made me like rocky IV.
  13. Welcome, and have a good week too, emetib
  14. I wish you luck Mr.LostinSpace. This post is really OT, but I thought I'd like to quote a post that should help you when jaclaz makes his move
  15. E Nomine- Mitternacht with lyrics For those of you who don't know German, or want to understand what the Latin parts mean here's a nice little translation http://lyricstranslate.com/en/mitternacht-midnight.html-1
  16. Next time, maybe he can tell me how pebcak is a software issue, and not the user , and maybe next time he wont troll
  17. That's the problem. Its not XP user can only be lucky, but ALL windows users can only be lucky. Infection is normally caused by pebcak, and, it also all goes down to the probability of YOU being attacked.
  18. I personally like Spywareblaster. It is good at removing alot of tracking cookies and other spyware (hence the name of the app). I personally use 2 anti-virus (Avast and clamwin/sentinel) 1 anti-malware (Malware bytes) then 2 anti-spyware (SuperAntiMalware, Spywareblaster). (with the two AV's I had to white list their folders from each other so they don't try to kill each other) Having two using real time protection is not a good thing and not recommended, but I never had an issue (still wouldn't do it though). EDIT: If your still wondering you can look at some reviews here http://download.cnet.com/SpywareBlaster/3000-8022_4-10196637.html (if you like cnet) Another thing to note, is that I now use SuperAntiSpyware as my main spyware, IMO I thought that SuperAnti was better.
  19. Please read this topic starting from here http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/152471-kernelex-apps-compatibility-list-new/page-13#entry1072080
  20. Why yes I do . Sometimes I type to fast for me to render . +1
  21. I know, I just don't care whether you cite them or not. Its not M$, but the NSA which is purposely making companies (rather compliant or not) to have the vulnerabilities.
  22. I'm not saying that what your saying is wrong, but formally debating your statements. Yes M$ pushes the new OSes on you so they can make money. That is how they make the bulk of their money, and is why they are changing to a "renting" OS style. (though I do admit that MS does have one of the best OS support lengths especially compared to Linux's) As for security I started to become skeptical of Security being the number 1 priority when some how an IE vulnerability that has existed for almost 10 years but has somehow, mysteriously, never been discovered until just days after XP goes EOL? (thankfully with this one M$ gave in to public pressure and did release the update for XP)
  23. pebcak exists because of the user not understanding the software they are using not the software flaw Also... MS stated that it doesn't matter if you use IE or not Flash vulnerabilities will still effect you if you use MS OFFICE, or let alone any program that uses flash. That to me seems like a big gaping hole. Yet proving my open wound theory Not true you know the only reason why M$ pushes the new OSes is so they can make money, not really about security. Also if this was the case there would be no need for updates or patches, but is simply not true. Sure they will help you, but no business based on IT wants to have their users be 100% secure, there will be no profit. Sadly its all about the money, and if that means purposely allowing exploits to happen then so be it.
