So all I had to install was the USP patch after I had installed WIN98. Thanks for the understanding of my fatal mistake. I also have to look at the topic of SATA to IDE. While I have a SATA ( the red guy??? ) I hook it threw IDE currently. So those drives should work right now? Right now I am trying to recover a folder, I had all my utitlites and programs installation. Now I am dealing with CHK problems. I have to recover that folder, before I install any patch.

My current hard drive is an ATA 200GB So you are saying that all hard drives over 128GiB all are 48 LBA ? Or is is that once I store data past 128GB the location of the files are then lost? Where is this patch? Is thier any possiblity of getting my files back, in the current CHK state?

Sounds like you had an error, with the OS using a partitianing tool. You need to recover the data if any. You can't make a partitian with any data on it, you have to move the data off, and backup before hand. If not you can split partitian, transfer files over to the new side, and then repeat. FAT32 is better at storing and data mangement. NTFS is good for big files like movies and film. Exfat is good for short term storage like converting files that becomes big and small alot ( like in a cell phone ).

I have no Java. I am posting my personall feelings about spying on people in their homes. Spying on people went from drug sniffing dogs, to people breaking inside a persons home. How is this any differnt. You might not be a trheat but your children, or your family members, or favorite tycoon might be a threat. Look it, has already happen to me, using Yahoo. Somebody broke into my account, changed a background of my Facebook Yahoo page ( you know that page that Yahoo request for you to turn on, but you can never nver nver turn it off, because Yahoo will not let you anymore ). What happen folks is that, they "Dickless G-bastards" are basically abusing various laws, because nobody is fighting back. Of course being that computers is a mans ( or least it was ) world. What they are doing is targeting men who about to retire ( men in their 50+ ) and immigrants ( racial targeting, racial biased, ). So now think about it. The reason why they want to gain access to users passwords is so they can view what the user has been doing, or storing privately. Think about some things you do not want anybody to see unless you trust them reasonable. If this was 1985 it would not matter. If this was 1995 it would not matter. If this was 2005 it would not matter. They were about to turn the entire nation into the state of Florida and California combined. If this was 1955 that would have been a cool thing, but otherwise that is basically hell on earth. If they had passed that, it would have made 90% of all media illeagal, and give the nation to meatheads ( the jox, the people who do not graduate from highschool, the people who become a police officer because they failed to make the team, the Biffs of the world ). Because everybody believes in god and nobody is strong enough to be like Charles Bronson or Sonny Chiba and stop these dickless bastards at the source, they continue to dance on our privacies, making threats to us. Meanwhie morons on facebook are like yeeeeaaahhhh we get to share crap. That is the only reason why they are doing this. They are gender discriminating males, age discimintating of males, immigrant bias of race, creed, culture, and all against males. Take out the people looking foward to their SSI. Another law they tried to pass, is the anti-garage sale law. Like when we buy or sell things on the internet for example. They want to tax you. You already get charged a fee for using money and sale services and because more people are shipping for things, they figure hey stores are dead, nobody goes outside anymore. They want to collect all your information. Steal your private property try to get you to admit to things. try to throw you in jail rob you of your Social Secturity Deport you out of the nation ( because it is cheaper then sending a person to jail ). They think it is a big joke, and nobody is fighting for the privacy of the people. They just want a bunch of boob jobs, walking around with half finished labodimies, spending as much as they use the bathroom, and reproducing less so their will be less people to deal with. Or better yet marrying less, and reproducing more. They can't just say, stop making babies, stop having sex, stop using your benifits you have a right to. So today I turned on my Windows 98 PC which is running great and all. The problem I have encountered in the past was that a folder from time to time, would have a bunch of crazy Characters, inside of it. Look like a bunch of garbled up text, and symbols. Sadly this folder was my folder where I kept my file utlities So I am asking for a file utlity that can correct the folder and file settings, without creating forsaken CHK files, So in the future I am able to recover the folder and files. .................................................................................. Usually I would pop my 9x drive into my XP/Vista etc computer and the file names and folder size would be corrected. Remove the contents, of the files and then delete the original folder, and make a new folder and move the files back. Then restart 9x. However this time, that did not happen? Instead I used error chked and ended up with a wopper load of crappy broken CHK files. That is another problem ( insert Pee-Wees Bikes and clown scene ). Maybe because my hard drive is over 100GIgs, ( I plan to upgrade to 2TB eventually ). The point being, of this post is to ask, IS THEIR A UTLITy THAT WILL CORRECT THE FOLDERS AND FILES

Okay so I am starting this topic due to a previouse issue I had, with a SATA drive I attempted to use as storage. The SATA is the Seagate 320. So I tried to install it, into my windows 98. Apparently Windows 9x is unable to read any hard drives over a certian amount of Gigs that uses a 48LBA cachce???? ( unless you want to correct me, please correct me ) Which means, you have to partitian the drive. Meanwhile all 24LBA cache ( correct me on this term ) drives works normal. I did that but I can't still test to see if this work because I am lacking the power supply cable for the SATA drive I have. I attempted to load the drive, but of course 9x tried to read threw the IDE to Sata I have but it will not read. I could only assume, the VIA fasttrack that is connected to my drive, is what is getting in the way ( because that is detected by 98. I have been reading, and is appears with many SATA devices a special BIOS is installed on board ( which also comes up via startuo ) and they all are very differnt, Win 9x needs special software to read SATA drives. Again this is untested because I am lacking the Sata power source, ( it looks as if the SATA drive have a mini power outlet ( when the drive could have fit a big one but it has a mini one ) but I will to wait until I could get a new power outlet.

Well my two cents is that being a flash drive you can pretty much make it go threw the IDE, and you would have no problem. The only problem would be a flash drive with an internal ROM chip, that causes isssues. I think their are memory solutions as well, but you need an outside power source. Running it from the actually port can work if it is supported as a boot option. Ever tried to just format a small patitian, then make a magical copy the partitian from your HD to a USB? Then just run it from there?

Okay, so as of now, I hate everything new. I will admit their are advancements that I do admire, like Going to the dentist and getting X-rays on the same day. However I am unable to take them home or have that cool picture, back then you paid for your X-ray. However their are things I hate, like with computers. How the PS/2 mouse or keyboard just decides not to work anymore, My serial mouse can always work but the PS/2 will fail me at some point in my life. USB steals energy from the PSU, and can damage a computers over all power usage. USB also tend to eject themselves from time to time. This is original hardware I am talking. USB are slow are ice, compared to firewire, and firewire has always been faster, so what the hell? Somehow we dumbed down into having only USB on our apples which could capture HD video ASAP threw the firewire. Only now USB caught up and guess what? They are still slow as garbage, Still ejects, and still causes power issues. Yahoo mail! forces their new TOS and contract, via the upgrade. I do not mind signing any contract from them, but when they sneak a whole bunch of new spyware into it. Also folks the only people launching viruses are the goverment people. Only the govement has the resources to hire super hackers. Who are probably a bunch of religious nutjobs who thinks they are doing the lords work, for their nation. Seriously they call out Russia and China, when it comes to bad data, but in reality we all know it is Bob from down the street, who browsed your email. I am sick of everything around me, being completely electronic and people being dumber then cattle when it comes to decision making processes. Technology, electronics, and computers are good things but only in small dosages. Kids do not even have books to read, they just play videogmes. They do not even know how to read a book at all. Society is just filter feeding people. Like how we had a choice of electronic or paper, iit seems to becoming a world where nobody values peoples voices at all, and people do not value peace at all. Remember when you was a kid, and that kid told a lie to make the other get into trouble? That is what the world is, and we are just being pushed to the side like disgaurded chess pieces. I am sorry, it is just that I am educated, smart, and not dumb enough to accept society the way it is. I know I could just curl up in the corner, make a whole bunch of babies ( or none ), and get drunk on money. However my brain feels as if it is falling out at times. Everything just looks like blurs, and you can hear the same exact tune in every other song sung from years ago or years today. I know, I know, I know, it gets hard to remember because their are tons of things of images to know. Here is something usefull to know, a kid with less then $50 dollars, and his average school materials could make something of value that otherwise, would cost fortunes to make. Back then if you wanted to make animations, you had to go to a university, private film studio ( that guy who has all the tools but never uses them ), or even a real television studio. The technology is actually more quicker and better in ink, pencil, etc. Right now if your good with tools, you can make your own "multi-plane camera". All you need is any electronic camera that can capture in film quality. I think Total Recall and basically all original film dating from the age of exploration can be converted into "HD" ( super slappy heroine high retardly resolution ) imagery, or even better Ex-hd. In the end if a person is not well rounded in illustration, or unable to be happy with their product, non of this stuff is usefull. I really am annoyed about such animations because, what people do not know they record this stuff in film because the original flash ( if you use flash ) is unable to run on regular hi-tech ( low-end ) computers as flash was and is meant to. Also wtih each release of flash they change the enviorment, making newer flashes look odd. What we really need is people to edit Adobe flash packages, ( which is simple ) so it can run on regular Windows 9x and even 2.1 architecture.

Problem sloved. The BIOS is a foxxcon bios, that matches the board. Deep within the settings, is an alert feature to tell people when something goes wrong. In this case you hear a loud annoying sound. Running heavy stuff, like 3d games, and harddrive software or even chkdsk, makes the CpU and card works harder, and thus more heat??? When it hits 75, in degrees it starts to make the sound, current the computer stays at 66, and using my air condition it goes to 55. Then when it reaches near 80 the computer tells the OS ( if it can ) to shutdown. That is exactly what occurs. The same with USB stealing too much power. So all this time I just had to go into the BioS and go to "PC health" and shut off the safeties. Even if I set it to the highest degrees it still makes the sound. Just by loading a flash page it goes off like crazy. So the solution was a hardware/software solution. Thank you for those who had concern.

So the thing is the hard drive is damaged, physically ( meaning once it reads to a certain point it stops reading ). I doubt any newer OSes can run on it ( because they scan even the forsaken bad sectors ). So I need a tool that marks all unreadable sectors bad, with no other options. I have tried scanning it, but the computer freezes after awhile, the drive is around 300Gs and it can barely do 100Mbs at a time. Otherwise I need a new drive, no biggie another $50 dollars into the fire.

Okay I am going to say, this all ISP are morons. I went to mine in person, it looked alot like that facility from "Terminator 2" that was blown up. I am not saying that is how I feel about them, but you go pass the barb wire, and parked trucks, and staff waiting for calls to pick up non-paying boxes. Deep inside what do you find??? Nowadays I call them, they just seem to have an attitude on the phone, always suggesting to send an worker ( a person who you pay usually ) or they keep reminding me ( everytime I start to speak up ) that their is a recording, and blah blah blah law blahb lah blah used against you blah. The one greatest joy I had in a long time, was canceling every other service not including internet, and then saying no to any other offers including, price reducaitons, and higher speeds. It was like a sweet talking, punk on the phone, trying and practically giving me dumb reasons to get back all the services. We will give you free storage space We will give you a modem that has more features We willl give you free international calling for ten year blah blah blah blah what will the children do for television Don't you want fiber optics, fiber optics if the future. ( Thank you I prefer my copper line ) We will give you everything for ten dollars a month. blah blah blah blah you have been with us for such a long time why the big hurry. I mean whatever happen to the days, when a service center had like less then ten people, and not the entire cyberdime facility with terminators walking back and forth at look out points, and fully loaded.

Vista seems to work okay, my only problem is that with newer programs, ( meaning cheaply built crap, that nobody took the time to learn C, and use a proper compiler ) it just seems that getting a problem is faster, with any new OS like Vista. That being said, Vista is a great OS to catch up on, things I missed from 2005. Otherwise I do not really care about the newer OS. The only reason why I need a new OS is to run a job related program, I am forced to use.

1. I did unattach the speaker, but it is internal, speakers. I can't seem to find it. What does the on board speaker of a computer looks like? On this one, i assume it is that black little thing that sticks up a bit, and looks like a cap????? I was thinking I could attach the speaker, back and pull one of the wires ( cut the wires ) so I wont I have to hear sound. 2. Again I assume it is a virus, or a setting that was forced change. The sound now plays when certain programs boot. Meaning when the computer starts the sound plays briefly. When I load a program, the sound also plays, in a repeatively until it goes on forever. It is a like a loud scratching annoying sound that somebody programmed on purpose to play after installing whatever it was that was installed. 3. ON one program, the sound starts to play. I assume the program ( any kind of program ) accesses a process and the sound starts to play. Maybe a memory area??? So far the sound plays on game and non-game programs???? When the computer starts up the sound also plays but cuts off real quickly?

How about this, where in the registery, or configurations of VIsta could I disable all communication with the built in speakers?????

I am talking about the Internal speaker. On most PC towers built an internal speaker is built in, and you can hear it when You play a DOS game that plays music and their is no other sound devices but the internal speaker. You have a program like Winace, that takes advantage of the internal speakers ( beeps, blops etc sounds ) You have a modem and when it dails you can hear it make the phone sound to dail, X number. However in this case the speaker is repeatively playing a loud annoying sound, that gets louder and louder and louder and never stops. This starts no matter what program I run, So I can assume, it might be a proccess, that is triggered when I run a program. Imagine any program you have installed, and then eventually a loud noise plays. It beeps like a door bell, over and over again, almost loud as a car horn. Eventually it keeps going and when you stop using the program the sound eventually stops. It does not fade, or is speciall efffects, just the same annoying sound, nonstop, like if somebody was pressing down a key on the worlds worst piano. I am convinced it is a "Virus" or "Bug" that was launched in the computer from an installation, or bad webbrowsing, however I need to find the process that is causing this, or even the problem itself. I figure it is probably in the registery somewhere????????? ...... ALso by internal speaker, I am not talking about the big physical one. I am talking about the small one that the big one connect to. The big one can also be used to play Windows music if connected to the right port, but I do not think that is available on the newer boards.

I love how it was back then, when webpages had a little banner, and you would cliick away to the next HTML page. No fancy javascript ( C ), no tricks or loopholes. Back when a person could run a server off their phone wire ( which I believe a person could still do today, ) and not have the FB1 come bursting thru the windows, and ceiling lights. I mean it still exsist today, but too many dumb people are using the internet. By dumb, I mean the people who shun anybody who is apart of computer programming world in general. Like how nowadays everybody is using their smart phones to text and send pictures, a person could even find out where you live and your E-mail address with barely any effort. It is like a nightmare living in todays world with computers. I miss when the internet looked like that. But scientists are flawed. The worlds first webpages are also the worlds first servers. Meaning anything that holds numerical data, stored in a rom chip, and can be connected and move files or information back and forth. So that would probably be a cross between a telephone. Correct me if I am wrong, computers have been in use even before the 1960's with telephones. Thinking back to Steve Jobbs invention of the telephone box, where you can make a phone call to anybody in the world, and he called the pope. Ha ha ha. So I guess the first webpages were phone addresses like the ones they use for the stock exchange and nowadays television transmissions??? Yeah phone = internet. I miss my 10 cents per minute, and you could use the "Caller ID" for free, via machine. Caller ID was also something free. I want to go back to cheap phone service. 49.99 a month for nationwide and caller ID. What a waste of money.

So I had this machine for awhile now. Of course, newer programs are able to run on this machine, while a 32-bit model. Think of the machine, being a regular computer, I can even run Windows 9X on it, along with DOS. However it has Vista loaded inside of it. 2Gigs of memory on one stick. 3Gig speed, 100MB or so HD. The last time I heard a simular sound was when the BiOS, was removed but this sound is much deeper, longer and I just decided to remove the built in speaker. However the built in "modem" speaker still makes the same sound. It also plays in a sorta timer until it heads into a long annoyying .................................................. Removing the speaker plug makes the sound softer but it is still annoying. The built in sound ( more like annoying noisey alarm clock ) only plays once I start running a program, or briefly when the computer loads ( to let me know it is still their ) . I have tried the following. Turning off the internal noise speakers, disabling the "digital sound" which turned off the Windows sound but not the computers built in speaker. By built in, I am refering to the speaker that only turns on, for most DOS programs that have a built in sound. Some games, use the built in sound to make tunes. Even programs like "Win-ace" uses the bult in speaker to signal when a file is done being compressed or extracted. I believe this is the same built in speaker, So far the sound is not doing anything else but annoying the living daylights out of me, and anybody else. First it plays at random, then it double, finally it triples and so forth until it is looooooonnnggggggggg annoying noise. Eventually it stops but only after an extremly long time. It is almost like if the sound has been planned on purpose I think somebody gave the machine a virus, as the sound plays almost identical, everytime I launch a program. ................... So if anybody knows, what is it, and how to stop it, please tell me. It is insane, and needs to stop. What I am hoping for, is to turn off all events to do with the internal modem speaker ( or whatever speaker ). I just do not understand why this thing just keeps going on and on.

In general, which way? I have three mini-computers. One is newer. The other two are late 1990's ME/98/XP models. In all three of these computers, the hard drive is upside down, why? SHouldn't the drive be right side up? From my undertanding of Hard drives, some people under insane circumstances ( which should never be done) will place a hard drive in the freezer to make ( something forget the name ) pop, so it can be read???? So rather then let In general I just want to know why all of these computers have the hard drive upside down? Two 30 Gigers One 400 Giger Why are they upside down? 1. Does the company do this on purpose because it will wear down, faster, and force the buyer to get a new computer ? 2. Is it a better position for the drive, so why not all hard drives built after the 1990's. The Apple Power macs all have their drives upside right ? ............................... This is something I just remember, I think the hard drives in two labtops I got a hold of, are also upside down??? Why, why is it like that ????

I could image the usage of this question in many machines, and blueprints. I think that question is better left off to those operators of those machines.

I am making a topic for discussion, distribution and editing of, USB 3.0 PCI drivers for windows 9X. Already I am seeing many packages in stores, selling what is called USB 3.0. Of course these packages might and most likely will not have support for 9X users, and future computers utilize 3.0 over the REAL USB drives. I also hope this topic could also be used to talk about firewire and flash alternatives, as many other storage media, not documented, are floating around the world, are lacking driver support for 9x

My idea on this topic. If you are a programmer, unlike me, then you should be able to alter the device drivers, ( like I have a AGP graphics card I want to install in my 9X machine but I do not have the right drivers ). So you have to understand, how to understand, how to edit device drivers. Not just add, the driver but update it correctly, so it can work 100% not Something that few people on this board knows how to. The main problem with 9x/NT/OS9/OSX or any other system is the requirements, as somebody mentioned, is drivers that can identify the hardware and will run on it. Like their is distubutions of Apple OS that can run on what Windows runs on. Again, as far as I know a person could pop any windows inside a PC type machine ( whatever thet term is i386 i582 ??? ) but once you get to drivers,

Drones are a waste of money. People used to do things like this with remote controlled helicopters. All I see here, are helicopters, using Harrier technology, in the consumer hands. Makes me think about dangerous a drone could be, especially if it has Wi-fi built into it. I am talking about somebody snooping your location, with a helicopter/ghetto-bird. Imagine if the law changed slightly against men especially. That is a direct violation of your privacy. We are not talking about things like, drugs, weapons, money, etc. I am talking about somebody who is not even aware they are breaking any law at all, and are in the business of their own privacy. Police are not going to be chasing down kidnappers, murders, or money laundering operations with this thing in the near future. They are going to be targeting you. By you I mean anybody who can read this, and thinks they are minding their own business. Think about what a drone with a Wi-Fi connection could do harm to a harmless person.

I am trying to be positive about my thoughts on this subject. You can delete this if you want, ....................................................... I remember some important African guy on a tech, 2020/2030 special said "the rest of the world is moving ahead, and is leaving Africa in the dust" or something along those lines. ....................................................... Talking about 1980's I really doubt most of the funds really went to African people updating their society, but otherwise help poison their way of life. The reality with Africa is that it was always be a place where the actual African people are against Westerners, and European outsiders. They are biased against our world, in all ways possible. Personally I am glad for that, in a sense, because it is what is preserving Africa. Africa does not need internet, Africa does not need cans of foods Africa needs laws to back up it's trades men, and rights to property. Right now, Africans have one big finger sticking up at every European type nation, and every other nation has their finger sticking back at Africa. Africans, while being good hearted people, are also very aware of the world outside their own nation, and what it has to offer. However unlike Australia where their are barely any indigenous people at all. They are their and they know what they want. It goes on forever, and ever, and ever. One day Africans are going to get smart, get rid of the foreigners of wealth, and Unite into one big nation. The majority of Europeans are only going to be, tourists, wives, and husbands. It is kind of depressing because we are talking about creating a solution for a problem that was almost sloved 30 years ago.
