    Hi!

welcome to MSFN, you will learn alot here Enjoy your stay
  7. In that case, get a firewall and block any incoming netbios sessions from the ip address that u assign from her pc. As long as you allow outgoing netbios sessions on ur firewall, you should be able to see files on her pc, but she won't b able to access urs. Alternatively, you can assign passwords to your shares so she cant access any of ur files.
  8. Not a bad product at all, from the specs, i would say that is all u need

  11. It is possible to use ICS/crossover instead of a router, this is a cheaper way to go than the router, however ur pc will need to be on all the time for the other pc to be able to access the internet. I agree with tha_filer, I would go with the linksys router if you dont want to turn on ur pc every time you need internet access on the other pc...
  12. Interesting indeed....Jellyfish dna? It looks kinda wierd
  13. Just do what u think is best dude, hope all goes well for ya! Good luck

  15. Having a router is not necessarily a cheap way to go as they can be quite costly, but since you are only getting one IP for ur broadband connection, then you will require a router, but it will also increase your security if u get 1 that also includes a hardware firewall. The difficulty of configuring the router will vary depending on what model/brand u get and how well documented the installation proceedures are in the manual. It will probably be pretty straight forward if the router u purchase can be configured via your web browser. As for the filtering/blocking sites that you dont want ur sis visiting, you will probably need to obtain some kind of content filtering software to install on the pc that your sis will be using such as cyber patrol. This software can be a bit of a pain if u wish to use the pc urself however.
  16. To a certain extent it is possible, if say u had 2 other pc's, the pc with the 2 nic's in it can actually act like a bridge between the 2 other pc's, allowing you to download from one pc and upload to the other simultaneously, without dropping the transfer rate, as you are using 2 separate cards to do the file transfers. This eliminates the need for a hub on a 3 pc network. However, I don't think its possible on a 2 pc network to configure 1 nic to upload and another to download, I may be wrong however, but i've never heard of any such configuration
  17. welcome welcome welcome! Have a look around and enjoy your stay

  20. Yeh true, a mate of mine, a former MSFN member has the code for the exploit, it is to be compiled in the c compiler included with linux distro's apparently, and from there, the attack is to be launched from a linux box in the form of a script. The script in turn generates a buffer overflow in Remote Proceedure Call, effectively allowing the attacker to gain control of the target system. All Windows NT based systems, from windows NT to 2003 server are vulnerable to these attacks
  21. It probably hasn't been tested on win95 cuz pretty much no 1 uses it anymore, but it may work on win95 im not sure, I would say win98se as the minimum but possibly works also on win95
