  1. Yup that is true, dont even bother getting the B. The G can transfer at a higher transfer rate, and over a longer distance. But of course with any wireless networking equipment, the transfer rate drops over distance, so you'll have to be careful where u put it. Also ensure that you have none of that aluminium foil based insulation in ur walls/floors/ceiling cuz it will block all signals sent out from the wireless nics/access point
  2. welcome to the MSFN community! Enjoy your time here
  3. welcome to MSFN dood, enjoy your stay
  4. Same here hmm interesting, it loads 4 me, i cant see any problems with the server either server stats say everything is working The domain has only been up 4 like 4 days so it may take a little while to resolve to all servers
  5. Yeah i just noticed that, its only temporary anyways I have also decided to dump the current forum system for IBF, which will make things alot better, for the forums anyways .
  6. Yeh i been trying to sort it out, i think its a problem with the portal, it wont display the first link on the section as a proper link, it will only display the html, the code i used 4 it is exactly the same as what i used for the other links... Thanx 4 the compliments! And thanx to you b0r3d 4 joining!
  7. simple, use ip address spoofing, many isp's use this to mask the ip's of their internal machines to deter hackers...

  9. Bell Labs researchers believe a deep-sea sponge holds clues to building better fiber-optic cables. A Bell Labs team headed by Joanna Aizenberg has already transmitted light through the ultra-thin, glasslike fibers that grow inside the sponge, known as a "Venus flower basket," a representative said. Now the trick is to discover how the fibers grow at temperatures near freezing and are flexible enough to be tied into a knot, the representative said. Fiber-optic cables communications companies use are very brittle, because they are created using extremely high heat. "This is purely science right now," a Bell Labs representative said. "The hope is engineers will look at the sponge and draw inspiration." The research findings, to be published Thursday in the journal Nature, are part of a burgeoning scientific field that is mining nature for new techniques to create better technology. Biomimetics, as the field is known, has already yielded such advances as new surgical techniques that use a glowing jellyfish protein and laundry soap that uses an enzyme from bacteria. Two years ago, Aizenberg discovered that a starfish, the brittlestar, is covered with lenses that act as a single eye. She has since built crystals based on the model provided by the starfish. The hope is that one day, such crystals could be used in communication networks and nanotechnology. Source: Techportal
  10. Strangely enough, here in aust we had a large power outage as well at the same time, was caused by the blaster worm, the thing shut down the area's power grid
  11. happy bday MSFN.org. I been here not long compared to others, but enjoyed every moment of it
  12. A mass Denial of Service attack on WindowsUpdate from users infected with the MSBlaster worm. In fact this attack has already started due to some users' system clocks being ahead of time, and WU is showing signs of slowness. This attack will prevent other users from downloading the RPC flaw fix. You have to ask why bother? I mean the fix doesn't work anyway...
  13. A word of warning to anyone relying on the microsoft hotfixes for the RPC vulnerability, I know of a few ppl that run a webserver off their net connections, and have the hotfixes installed. They were targeted by attackers using the RPC exploits, and the attackers were still able to compromise their systems using these exploits, even though the hotfixes were installed. My advice would be to either disable the RPC service, or block all incoming Remote Proceedure Calls on all ports, both TCP and UDP using a decent firewall. This will stop any RPC's from reaching your system, and effectively allowing a hacker to compromise your system.
  14. well being 18, my parent's cant really do much bout me being on my pc
  15. lets close this topic or delete it b4 MSFN becomes a target 4 kidd0, no one say another word about kidd0, anyways its irrelevant to MSFN, mods, admins?
