switched auto restart off, hopefully it shouldnt happen now. replacing ddr with faster ram then backing everything up for a big format mission

No not overclocking, where is the option for auto-reboot? It never used to do this until about a month ago. Its a 5 month old PC so I dont think it could be hardware related but cant be certain of that.

About once or twice a week my system suddenly reboots by itself. Once back in Windows it says Windows has recovered from a serious error after a few mins of hard disk crunching. I dont think its the regular sobig virus because my PC is fully patched up and has latest definitions and firewall. It needs to be fixed just in case it happens when im doing some work, so if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

i think you might be getting cas latency mixed up with nanosecond timing. average ddr is 6ns and 2.5cl

try dabs.com and i recommend the samsung sw252, most 52x burners are very similar as the technology is fully matured

yea but i can sell my ram and just put the odd £30 on top to buy ddr333 and maybe sell ti4600 and get radeon 9700p for about £50 more uni beginning so time to budget!

my cpu is p4 3.06ghz with 533mhz bus so its not possible to upgrade cpu ram is 1gb of generic ddr266 graphics is gf4 ti4600 128mb agp4x would buying 1gb ddr333 to replace ddr266 make a difference? cant afford a new graphics card, and my mobo is agp 4x not 8x anyway

will it improve game performance if i buy faster memory?

according to the webpage my gf4 ti4600 will run well in dx8 but im disappointed that dx9 mode is completely seperate so no new graphics fx for me i was planning to get a radeon9800pro in a month or two, those benchmarks are excellent but im surprised how badly nvidia have utilised the 5900 hardware so far

ahh, no wonder I see a blue screen with memory hashes just before system freezes. Is this a large performance loss (I know my memory is reasonable low quality PC2100)?

thats the stuff that conducts the heat effeciently between cpu and heatsink, its definately why your having heat issues. the heat from cpu isnt currently conducted effeciently to the heatsink where it can be spread and dissipated. its not just a glue.

There is a setting in my bios for top performance either enable or disable. When I enable it, windows starts up but freezes after a minute or so. Does anyone know why this happens and what the top performance setting actually does? Thanks.
