  1. at the moment I have my two hard disks as primary master and primary slave, and my two optical drives as secondary master and secondary slave. would it lead to faster performance to buy a longer ide cable and mix up the primary channel with a hard disk and optical drive and same for secondary channel? also would it be perfectly compatible to use new round ata133 ide cables between for example my ata100 hard disk and dvd rom drive or will that mean i can only transfer data as fast as my slowest drive? would the drive letters change, affecting installed programs? cheerz!
  2. Telewest Blueyonder dialup (maybe part of ntl) for about £13/14 a month 24/7 access. Great service for 56k, no disconnections and average 50.6kbps connections.
  3. Motherboard supports DDR333 so I would run it at 333, with regular 333 settings.
  4. Its genuine, but i'd recommended it to UK people mostly.
  5. Im running an 18" TFT on its native resolution at 1280x1024 @ 60hz and its excellent for desktop/games, sometimes dvds look slightly blurred but you can adjust settings on powerdvd to make it look pretty much perfect anyway.
  6. Im a member of these sites and have got the goods from two of them so far so I can vouch for their legitimacy... JointheMatrix Multimatrix Matrix4Cash MiniMatrix
  7. I currently am running 1gb of DDR266 memory and have been told it would make a big difference if I upgraded to DDR333. Is this true or would the difference be unnoticable?
  8. For overall quality I would say LG. Great specifications; decent looks and features. Im still trying to kill mines somehow...
  9. wont it leave obvious sabotage marks on the screen?
  10. Try out Super DVD Ripper 1.9 (downloads.com), it lets you convert to divx and other formats in customisable quality, pretty good software apart from the interface.
  11. thanks for the help..... i'll post a pic of it hanging on a washing line!
  12. Quite a complex procedure!! I was thinking of something more simple wizard based. Ideally I would want to fit a dvd rip onto one cd in divx format..
  13. Cant open it, itll definately void the warranty. I jus need to somehow kill a few more pixels. Sounds easy, but in practice its near impossible!
  14. What is the best software available to convert DVD movies onto CDR backups?
  15. This may sound weird but I would like to create more dead pixels on my TFT screen somehow. This is just to ensure I get a new screen before my warranty expires, there is 2 dead ones already and I need 8 to get a new screen. Is there a software available that 'burns' into the pixels or similar??
  16. Is the preview version still beta?
  17. I downloaded the latest trial from the official webpage, which has now run out but there is no option anywhere to enter a serial. Im sure there used to be an option when I had it installed before I formatted (it was the same XP 4.0 version). Does anyone know how I can register it so I can watch my DVDs.....
  18. i think the next windows should come with a microsoft updated adware tool.. or is that just not possible
  19. thanks for the help.. searched for this before i posted but it didnt find the post that was right under my nose which solves my problem.. thanks again
  20. In the last few weeks ive been getting pop up adverts in a window (not a message window) through msn messenger. They're usually adverts to dodgy sites etc. How do i stop them from coming onto my pc, other people i know have had this problem as well... im using the usual 4.7 with plus
  21. This is what Intel said (not much use!): Thank you for contacting Intel® Technical Support. I understand your system only displays one processor in the Task Manager. First I would recommend you use the Intel® Frequency ID Utility to properly identify your processor: http://support.intel.com/support/processor...ls/frequencyid/ I would next suggest you contact Microsoft for any updates or patches that are available for the operating system to identify Hyper-Threading Technology: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hwdev/platfo...HT-Windows.mspx Please let me know if I can be of further assistance Sincerely, Naomi R. Intel Technical Support http://support.intel.com I just installed XP Pro and I now get 2 processors in task manager. I think XP Home supports hyperthreading CPU's but doesnt take advantage of it like XP Pro with dual processor support.
  22. According to Intel, WinXP Home does support HT cpu's. Ive sent them an email about the issue and will post the reply here when recieved.
  23. It cant be selected, there is only one dimmed option that says "one graph per cpu".
  24. I had ME installed for 2 years and had no problems. Used the PC to play games, net, work, mp3s... Win98FE was probably the most bugged for me on my old Pentium 166mhz (MMX... woohoo! )
  25. The hyperthreading is definately disabled somewhere, have got just one graph. Can anyone suggest a fix or should I just install Pro? The PC's performance is definately not as good as it should be.
