  1. @feodor2 I assume you mean this error which occurs when clicking onto the button Settings: Right? In any case, clicking this button leads to this error shown above in the console, and the Connection Settings page can't be opened. The problem starts to occur in your new pre-release of Mypal 68.13.0. I checked the previous pre-release 68.13.0 and the version 68.12.5. Both are working fine. I compared the file subdialogs.js to the old ones and nothing has changed. Unfortunately, I can't find your typo but I am sure you already know where it might be located. Anyway! Just FYI! @feodor2 Thank you very much for the hint! I already had a look into this file (nomen est omen) but without an idea or syntax checker, a superfluous quote is not so easy to find. Anyway! I already fixed it, and now it's working fine here: Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper
  2. I actually thought that Norton had stopped any updates years ago. But no problem. I never liked Norton (Symantec or whatever) Antivirus & Co and felt they disenfranchised the user. So, rest in peace, Norton!
  3. In my first post, I already explained that. The last working firewalls will be listed here, of course. A firewall does not need necessarily updates if it still works properly in Windows XP. I know Outpost Firewall very well, I used it long time ago. Therefore, it is on my internal list of security programs. However, I must mention here that I have already presented the by far best firewall for Windows XP, and, compared to all the usual suspects, this is definitely Windows 10 Firewall Control Plus XP from Sphinx: Cheers, AstroSkipper

  5. All information about Malware Hunter is here: There you can see: System requirements: Runs on Microsoft Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, XP and Vista. Including both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Conclusion: it should run under XP 64. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  7. And may I kindly ask where you want to open tabs if the tab bar is turned off? That does not really make sense. Tabs are opened horizontally or maybe vertically by using an extension. That's the way this browser works. If you need more space to read a web page, you can use the full screen mode with the F11 key. I know that for example in New Moon 28 you can toggle the visibility of the tab bar but I never used or needed it. BTW, most features of the legacy browsers can also be retrofitted in Mypal 68 with the help of userscripts with the extensions *.uc.js or *.css. Have a look for example here under custom buttons: Kind regards, AstroSkipper
  8. For every desired feature, there is a solution in the form of an extension. But my tabs will stay horizontally. I am a creature of habit.
  9. When I am back on my desktop computer, I will check whether KB2686509 was installed in my system or not. @we3fan FYI, KB2686509 contains the file kblChecker.dll and is described as a Keyboard Layout Check. It was installed in my system on 21.07.2012.
  10. Generally, I would tend to agree to your suggestion but in my case that would only be a measure if all alternatives failed. My Windows XP partition is very complex and full of special settings. It has grown over years and setting it all up again would also take years if I could remember everything perfectly. The current error only affects this particular program Quick Startup, so considering reinstalling is not really an option for me. BTW, this affected partition was created in 2004. Since then, I have never had to perform a new installation on this computer. I have a sophisticated imaging system and can revert to an older state at any time. However, according to my nature, I am interested in what the actual problem is. I like to solve all problems myself in order to have full control and to constantly expand my knowledge. Many errors are of a recurring nature, and a new installation would only be a temporary solution. I have a large archive of problem solutions that specifically affect Windows XP. So I can fix these errors very quickly. Some error solutions are designed by me and cannot be found on the Internet.

  12. Thank you very much, @we3fan! That's a confirmation I really needed. Unfortunately, I have to conclude that there is indeed a problem in my Windows XP partition (with all POSReady updates). And it doesn't seem to be related to the POSReady updates themselves as I assumed. Therefore, I have to investigate that again and this time much more deeply although I already did a lot of fixing and cleaning. Anyway! Great job! Thanks again for all your efforts!
  13. Update notification! Malware Hunter has been updated on 08.05.2023 and is now available in version 1.166.0.784. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  14. I would really appreciate that.
  15. Another appeal! Is anyone here in the forum using Windows XP SP3 (32 Bit) Professional, fully updated including all POSReady Updates on real hardware without any virtualization (not running in a VM) like me? If so, please read this post for doing a short test of Glarysoft Startup Manager or Quick Startup! A screenshot of the main window showing application and Windows services would be very helpful! Thanks in advance! Greetings, AstroSkipper
  16. @feodor2 I already tested different websites in your new pre-release. My Windows XP hardware is very old and logically weak. Therefore, I notice every little change in the speed of page loading. Your current pre-release loads all pages much faster. Everything is much smoother. I am thrilled.
  17. May be you know why even not 78 but 79 I have overrided minstrictversion to 79 for the fun, and latest ublock 49.2 seems works fine Very good idea! I will also test uBlock Origin 1.49.2 in my installation. If it really works without compatibility problems, that would be a sensation.
  18. Yep, you can have a look in my new thread where I've started a current list of working antimalware programs with all necessary links and information which is maintained and extended continously by me. Kind regards, AstroSkipper
  19. @feodor2 Thanks for your reply and observations! When time is available, I will compare the locale files of your latest pre-release with the files of the old German language pack. Then I can clearly see which files and entities have been changed. I did that already for MailNews from scratch and development is still in progress. The old language packs of Thunderbird 52.9 have not been working for many years. Therefore, I know what is to be done to get it working. The only real problem is always the extent of the changes. Unfortunately, it is usually a meticulous and elaborate detail work, and Mypal in English or German is actually the same for me. After comparison I will know more in any case.
  20. If the login is necessary for activation of KFA, then you will probably stuck without any further features like for example real-time protection. In terms of Bitdefender, the same problem occurs. No login possible, no activation. Fortunately, I am not particularly interested in these programs. And one thing is clear: Kaspersky has removed all resources relating to KFA 19. So I am not at all surprised that it is no longer possible to log into the My Kaspersky account.
  21. @feodor2 You mentioned the breakage of the old Firefox 68.12.esr language packs. Did you change a lot of entities in the en-US locales of your new pre-release? Or are there other reasons for the breakage? I had a quick look into them but before comparing to the old ones I thought it would be a good idea to ask the developer directly.
  22. Update notification! @feodor2 has uploaded a new pre-release of Mypal 68.13.0. Here is his post: and here is the link to GitHub: https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/issues/160#issuecomment-1546736807 JavaScript is now at level 78 in this new pre-release. Very important is to uninstall all language packs if used before installing this version. The new pre-release of Mypal 68.13.0 doesn't seem to be compatible with the old Firefox language packs. I already installed the new pre-release, and two sites which weren't working in the old pre-release are running again: VirusTotal and Leo. More tests in the next days! In any case, @feodor2 made a great job! Thanks again for sharing your work! Cheers, AstroSkipper
  23. New pre-release of Mypal! JavaScript at level 78! Thank you so much for all your hard work, @feodor2! Hope you are well!
  24. Yep, I thought we also need here software coming from Europe. So that no one gets the idea that I would only favour countries here that still use Windows XP more often, such as China. And in terms of your question, there is an old song in Germany called "Wunder gibt es immer wieder", translated "Miracles happen all the time".
  25. Ultra Adware Killer Ultra Adware Killer is a simple but powerful adware remover for Windows by Carifred. It removes browser toolbars, add-ons, plugins, unwanted search providers, hijacked homepages, and potentially unwanted programs (PUP's). It also allows resetting Chrome and Firefox preferences optionally. Ultra Adware Killer 10.7.7.0 from 09.05.2023 is the last XP-compatible version. It is fully portable, so no installation is needed, and it's free of charge. Every time Ultra Adware Killer is started, it briefly checks for updates. Homepage: https://www.carifred.com/ultra_adware_killer/ Quotation from UAK's homepage: Version number: 10.7.7.0 Date of release: 09.05.2023 System requirements: Windows XP 32/64 bit Windows Vista 32/64 bit Windows 7 32/64 bit Windows 8 32/64 bit Windows 10 32/64 bit Windows 11 Review: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/ultra-adware-killer-remover-cleaner Download link: Ultra Adware Killer 10.7.7.0 Screenshots: I did a scan, and it worked as advertised. To do so, you only need to press the Start scan button, wait until the scan ends, and remove the items found. Typically, the whole operation takes only a few minutes. Additionally, a custom scan to check files or single folders can be performed at any time But you have to read carefully not to delete entries which are actually belonging to harmless programs. On the homepage https://www.carifred.com/ultra_adware_killer/, you will find much more detailed instructions, help and information about this program. I think it is an interesting alternative to for example the depreciated Malwarebytes AdwCleaner. Greetings, AstroSkipper
