  1. Announcement: ProxHTTPSPoxy's systray menu will be released in the next days The test phase of ProxHTTPSPoxy's systray menu has been finished successfully and I've decided to publish it in the next days. I still have to configure the download package, title it, write documentation and check it all. Here is the latest screenshot of ProxHTTPSPoxy's systray menu: @Dave-H, as you can see I followed your suggestion to formulate the items as clear as possible for all users. Thanks again for your opinion! Cheers, AstroSkipper
  2. Windows Update Error Codes If an error code occurs while accessing AU/WU/MU, it's helpful to understand the meaning of it. Here is a very comprehensive list of Windows Update Error Codes: http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive/wuc.htm Another list of these codes with more detailed descriptions is the "Complete List of Windows Update Error Codes" and can be found here: http://woshub.com/all-windows-update-error-codes/ Legacy Update also provides a list of Windows Update Error Codes. Here is the link: https://legacyupdate.net/errorcodes Cheers, AstroSkipper
  3. Optime! Homo qui oblitus est nominis sui vel scire nolit. Non est melius nomen! I love it! Back to topic! If there is no problem in Windows 7 32 Bit, then it' s not a 64 Bit problem. The function seems to be supported in more recent OSs, presumeably Windows Vista or 7 and later and therefore not a 64 Bit related problem. And if so, you've got a chance to get it working using Extended Kernel. Try it! Vale! AstroSkipper
  4. Salve! I love Latin and I have to say "nomen est omen" at first. But back to topic! I have same version in my Windows XP Professional 32 Bit system and I rather doubt that there is a more recent one. I think your source of information is Stack Overflow and it seems to be as you already said, the function RegGetValue is supported in XP 64bit and later. Therefore no chance, I think. Sorry for the bad news! Regarding your "KernelEx" there was an ExtendedXP ( Extended Kernel for XP) from 2017 but project was cancelled by author, afaik. You can find it here: Maybe some experts here do have more information for you. Kind regards, AstroSkipper
  5. Here are my experiences with Mypal 68 until now. Windows XP Professional with all POSReady updates is installed on a very old computer with an Intel Pentium Northwood 2.80 GHz CPU (single core, 32 Bit), 1.5 GB SD-RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce 6200 graphic card. My settings in about:config are: dom.ipc.processCount -> 1 browser.tabs.remote.autostart -> false That means I use the browser in single process mode only. Running Mypal 68 with 5 extensions and one empty tab, it consumes 245 MB of RAM. Running Mypal 68 with 5 extensions and three loaded tabs (Google, MSFN, Github), it consumes 349 MB of RAM. For me, perfect values especially regarding my low hardware resources. Mypal 68 is working fine and flawlessly. The overall performance is perfect, cumbersome web sites are loading fast without permanent processor load as I always observe in roytam's releases. I am totally happy, regarding the early state of development. Of course, a lot of functions are missing, (un)installing of extensions is not working properly and some sites fail to work as they should do, but anyway, for an early build very impressive. I'm looking forward to the next releases. So long! AstroSkipper
  6. In history of v11 and 13.0 no problems so far! 360Chtome v13.5 I do not use, therefore I can't check your observation on this version. Sorry!
  7. You mean something like Speeddial for Firefox and Pale Moon? If so, try Speed Dial 2: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/speed-dial-2-new-tab/jpfpebmajhhopeonhlcgidhclcccjcik or Visual bookmarks: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/visual-bookmarks/jdbgjlehkajddoapdgpdjmlpdalfnenf or Simple Speed Dial (looks similar to old Speeddial): https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/simple-speed-dial/gpdpldlbafdmhlmcdllcjgoigmpjonfc Cheers, AstroSkipper
  8. I forgot a zero and corrected my post, so not 64 KB but 640 KB RAM. Although totally off-topic (sorry for that!), I forgot to mention two very old computers I own: an Atari 800 XL with 64 KB RAM of year 1984 and an Atari 1040 ST with 1 MB RAM (upgraded to unbeliebable 4 MB) of year 1986. Both Atari computers are working and fully functional in today. That was quality at its finest and will never be repeated. My Atari 800 XL is 38 and my Atari 1040 ST 36 years old. And they have survived hard times!
  9. A less-than-ideal solution for the error code 0x80072efe or 0x80096010 caused by the AU client in Windows XP If you notice the error code 0x80072efe or 0x80096010 in your system event log and you want to get rid of these errors in a fully updated Windows XP system, you have simply to turn off Automatic Updates in AU applet located in control panel. The reasons for these errors are different and described in detail in another post of mine: Cheers, AstroSkipper
  10. No problems here when opening, closing and opening again settings in V11.
  11. Which error message? Never seen one when opening the settings.
  12. I totally agree! I do never store passwords in any browsers, but for me there is a significant difference between an European build and Russian or Chinese build of a browser due to telemetry, security, sense of justice, influence of goverment, political motivation ... and therefore trust in such creators.
  13. I do think so too but last not least it's a question of confidence, of course! I usually store passwords in Keepass and use an addon to access them. All passwords in one place. For me simply great.
  14. I would never store any passwords in a browser of Russian or Chinese origin. Therefore 360Chrome is fully portable for me!
  15. In 1986 my first personal computer with the 8088 cpu had only 640 KB RAM too. No harddisk, only two 5.25 floppy devices.
  16. Good to know that it worked for you. Of course, Mypal 68 is in an early state of development. We will see what it will be. But I think it is a very interesting and promising project.
  17. An experimental solution for the error code 0x80072F78 while accessing the WU/MU website If on the WU/MU website the error code 0x80072F78 appears, turn off your firewall temporarily. If MU is working now, add the program "wuauClt.exe" into the exception list of your firewall and turn your firewall back on. In any case, ProxHTTPSProxy or HTTPSProxy must not be blocked by your firewall. Same for Internet Explorer, of course. This is rather an experimental solution. In a lot of cases, this tip had helped users to solve the error code 0x80072F78. Try it if you are affected! Maybe it works for you. Cheers! AstroSkipper
  18. I totally agree! BTW did you try Mypal 68 with my settings above in single mode process?
  19. That's right. I am a bit old school and I love my old computer. RAM can't be extended anymore and therefore I prefer browsers with less RAM consumption. V11 is the best choice for me too.
  20. Hi @NotHereToPlayGames, I did some further tests. In my old system only 360Chrome version 11 is the only one I should use. Starting with launch parameter --process-per-site, an empty tab and four installed extensions I got a RAM usage of 260 MB. That's fine. I'll try to open tabs as less as possible i.e. not more than 3 tabs. Under these conditions the overall performance is definitely okay for me. Thanks again for your tests and information! Cheers! AstroSkipper
  21. Of course, I know that but opening tabs in Chrome browsers are consuming much more RAM than opening them in a browser supporting single process mode. Therefore it is problematic for my old system. But do not misinterpret my statements, I appreciate your work here and it is great to have a more recent Chrome alternative in Windows XP. And RAM uconsumption is a problem caused by developer and not by you.
  22. Thanks for your quick reply! I do not focus. on process count only. I do focus on RAM usage. Each new opened tab consumes nearly 100 MB. Currently I have three different tabs and only one extension in 360 Chrome and a RAM usage of 93 + 90 + 110 + 113 + 90 = 496 [MB]. Each more tab means nearly 100MB more. Sorry, too much. In Mypal 68 I have three different tabs and two extension consuming only 400 MB. Therefore 20 percent less RAM usage. It makes definitely a difference running a browser in multi process or single process mode.
  23. Correct! For me too! I tried it and RAM usage was worse. In Chrome there is no single process mode anymore. It existed in Chromium (--single-process) but due to the fact that I avoided Chrome browsers in the past I don't know if it is still supported. 360Chrome version 11 crashes with the launch parameter --single-process. Therefore 360Chrome browser and, after a short research, presumeably all Chrome browsers do not have a single process mode anymore. I agree if Mypal 68 is running in multi process mode. But Mypal 68 can be used in a single process mode using these about:config settings: browser.tabs.remote.autostart false dom.ipc.processCount 1 In this mode you'll have only one instance of mypal.exe with less RAM consumption. Starting Mypal 68 with these settings in my system leads to a RAM usage of less than 300 MB. What do you think about launch parameter --process-per-site in 360Chrome? On some web sites this parameter is recommended to reduce RAM consumption. I rather doubt that. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  24. Hi @NotHereToPlayGames, at first my compliment for your hard work here! You made it possible to have a more recent Chrome browser in Windows XP without annoying Chinese language strings. Thanks for that! Now I have a question relating to the RAM consumption of your 360Chrome editions. I use Windows XP on a very old computer with only 1.5 GB RAM. Is there an option to reduce RAM consumption significantly? Maybe a kind of single process mode as in Mypal 68? AFAIK people are advised to use 360Chrome version 11 on older systems. I tried your 360Chrome version 11 and 13.5, but in both cases the RAM consumption is very high starting the browser with an empty tab only. Any recommendations? Cheers, AstroSkipper
