You're welcome! Just to be clear, I didn't say he'd never visit this forum or the Mypal 68 threads. @feodor2 said he would come around here from time to time whatever that means. Here is a quotation from @Jody Thornton's MyPal 68 thread: Cheers, AstroSkipper

@XPerceniol! Just an additional information! Please do not expect a prompt reply from @feodor2! He does not regularly visit our forum, only from time to time. I am saying this here so that you will not be disappointed if you do not receive a direct reply.

The computer has to work and do its job. If not, you have to solve it! But please, do not talk about it! It's boring. Ever experienced this?- 922 replies

ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use
AstroSkipper replied to AstroSkipper's topic in Windows XP
Same here in Germany. Mina is the first name of a female. But in Egypt, it is vice versa! Right! Or, you can also use the TLS 1.3 proxy locally. The TLS 1.3 proxy and thus also my program package makes it possible to establish connections to servers or generally to the Internet via the TLS 1.3 protocol (and all other TLS protocols which was already done with previous releases) in Windows XP even independently of browsers, which was not possible before. You can test my program package with the old Firefox ESR 52.9.0. Here is a link, you still have to choose your language: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/win32/ And, in any case, with the Internet Explorer 8, too. Some email programs and others also need such a proxy nowadays. All information about these proxies can be found in my article "ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use" in the first post of this thread. This article will be updated when time is available. My program package ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 is fully documented inside its archive.- 922 replies

Hello @XPerceniol! You are always welcome in my thread, and the place for your post is the right one, especially, when it comes to extensions, custom buttons, or anything related to them. You can contact @feodor2 in the issues on GitHub, in @Jody Thornton' Mypal 68 thread, or here in my thread. Greetings, AstroSkipper

ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use
AstroSkipper replied to AstroSkipper's topic in Windows XP
Hello @SC7601! That's correct! I would be very pleased if I got feedback from users who can test my program package in a real installation (no VM) of Windows XP on a period-correct hardware. BTW, my Windows XP computer is equipped with a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz Northwood single core CPU and only 1.5 GB SD-RAM. No SSD, no SATA but IDE hard disks, and the graphic card is NVIDIA 6200 AGP 4x. You see, we both are running Windows XP on a Pentium 4. You do not need to use old Chrome browsers. In the MSFN forum, we have a lot of browsers compatible with Windows XP and quite recent to surf the web nowadays. Here is the link to the post of my program package: And here is the link to the forum with topics referring to browsers in Windows XP: https://msfn.org/board/forum/201-browsers-working-on-older-nt-family-oses/ If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me! Hello @feodor2! As promised before, I checked the profile folder and the already updated extensions in my installation of Mypal 68. The file addonStartup.json.lz4 exists in the main folder of my profile and doesn't have to be deleted when updating extensions. Therefore, I can't confirm your statement, unfortunately or fortunately, it's up to you. I don't exactly know what you mean by the 1st page. The first page of the Add-ons Manager or the first page of an extension on Mozilla Firefox Add-ons website? Anyway, I already installed several extensions from the first page of an extension on Mozilla Firefox Add-ons website without any problems if the extension was really compatible with Mypal 68. Furthermore, I updated some extensions via the first page of the Add-ons Manager by using the menu item "Install add-on from file" without deleting anything before. So what is the issue? Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper

Browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and unfortunately, Mypal 68, too, all of them have a lot of problems in their memory management. Nowadays, the developers do not matter at all how much memory is used by their programs, unfortunately. New computers are equipped with a huge amount of RAM. For running those browsers on my old, slow, and beloved computer, I have to do a lot to reduce RAM consumption because a RAM extension was and is not possible due to its motherboard layout. I am a logically thinking person , and I don't believe anything at all due to my mathematical, technical, scientific, and philological background. Trial and error is the main principle! What you called pejoratively "snake oil", helps me a lot in very special situations, but not in general. I am not a friend of such common and rather meaningless statements. Truth be told, most of all memory manager I tested in the past are crap and don't do anything reasonable at all. But, there are exceptions. On my computer, low on RAM, I can perfectly observe how programs behave and what they do if the system runs out of free RAM. Mypal 68 in combination with Firemin Portable 6.3.1.5105 works much better than without it. The browser behaves more fluently while loading websites. Its memory consumption and releasing of occupied RAM can be improved in this way, "but cannot work miracles" which you forgot to quote from me (That, I don't like, either. Full quotation or nothing, but no selecting in one sentence!). Here is the full quotation of my statement: And, just to complete it, I do have another "snake oil" for you which is able to work system-wide in Windows. It's the program CleanMem Pro. Many years ago, I bought a license for it. A free version is available, too. Here is the link: https://www.pcwintech.com/cleanmem. I only use this on my old Windows XP computer. But you have to configure it very carefully! Anyway, all these measures and many others I don't want to list here lead to an improvement in regard to the RAM consumption in my system. No more and no less! Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper PS: I don't know what hostility you are talking about. I can't see any such one. You are a good guy! Anyway, there is a nice saying in the German language: "Wer im Glashaus sitzt, sollte nicht mit Steinen werfen!". Translated: "Who sits in a glass house should not throw stones!". BTW, it's just a metaphor, of course!

Thanks for your nice reply! Speaking of tone, the tone makes the music! We all know that, no matter what language, don't we? Most particularly, if English should be really your first language! Anyway, I'll try to overlook that. And, don't worry! All is well! Tschüss! Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper PS: Sorry, German is presumably not your native language. "Tschüss" means "Good bye", of course!

IsRelative=0 means using absolute paths as, for example, D:\Eigene Dateien\Mypal\Mypal68\Profiles\Test in my case. IsRelative=1 means relative paths in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\*\Application Data\Mypal68\Profiles as, for example, Profiles/qxykmjt0.private in your case. You can't mix the two! That wouldn't work!
-
Thanks for your reply! Why do you talk about Serpent? The file installs.ini with this install ID I observed only in Mypal 68's folder located in C:\Documents and Settings\*\Application Data\Mypal68\.

Hello, @XPerceniol! Unfortunately, I can't figure out your answer. Did my post above help you in solving your issue with creating of an unnecessary profile or not?

Cool! Snake oil! Everywhere the same discussions! Superfluous and leading to nothing! In my system, Firemin Portable 6.3.1.5105 helps me a lot in reducing Mypal 68's RAM consumption. Chrome browsers in Windows XP, I only use very rarely because they are the worst RAM consumer ever. IMHO, Mypal 68 in single process mode, managed by Firemin in the background, behaves much better than without it, most particularly in a slow system which is low on RAM like mine. No more and no less! Roytam1's browsers do not need Firemin. They are much less RAM consuming than Chrome browsers or Mypal 68. Sorry, but that's the truth! And one thing is clear, no pictures about RAM consumption from me! I do not waste my time with nonsense! I have more important things to do! No one is forced to use this tool, and everyone can make their own experiences. Firemin is Open Source and therefore at no costs. I just wanted to help and nothing more. I provided a download link of a version which was requested by a user and wasn't available in the internet anymore. Take it or leave it! Anyway, you could investigate it in detail, of course! It's your speciality, isn't it? Have a nice day! Cheers, AstroSkipper

Adobe Flash, Shockwave, and Oracle Java on XP (Part 2)

Hello @Mathwiz! Thanks for your detailed reply! I am fully aware of the subjunktive mood and its meaning even as a non-native English speaker. And, I am able to distinguish between subjunctive mood, conditional forms and future tenses in grammar. But, thanks for your additional explanation! When I read your comment first, I found the usage of your "potentialis" a little unclear, as a simple look at palefill's install.rdf makes everything clear. But no problem, @VistaLover explained it in detail. Anyway, if I can ever repay you for your English grammatical instruction in my native German language, I would be very happy and am at your disposal at any time. Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper -
Hello @mina7601! In your case, absolutely nothing because of your high-performance laptop with 32 GB of RAM! This tool is meant for a user who is low on RAM like me with only 1.5 GB of RAM on my old, beloved Windows XP computer. It permanently reduces the browser's memory consumption in the background, but cannot work miracles. roytam1's browsers consume less RAM than the Chrome browsers and, unfortunately, Mypal 68, too.

Hello @XPerceniol! I will try to help you. When I had installed Mypal 68 the very first time, I also had the issue that an unneeded profile folder was always reinstalled. I solved it by editing the file profile.ini located in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\*\Application Data\Mypal68\. The special character * is in your case the string DELL. Here is my modified code of the file profile.ini: [Profile2] Name=Default IsRelative=0 Path=D:\Eigene Dateien\Mypal\Mypal68\Profiles\Default [Profile1] Name=Test IsRelative=0 Path=D:\Eigene Dateien\Mypal\Mypal68\Profiles\Test [Profile0] Name=Mypal68 IsRelative=0 Path=d:\Eigene Dateien\Mypal\Mypal68\Profiles\Mypal68.12.2 Default=1 [General] StartWithLastProfile=0 Version=2 [InstallE2373D2F645B4BBF] Default=d:\Eigene Dateien\Mypal\Mypal68\Profiles\Mypal68.12.2 Locked=1 As you can see, I have three different profile folders on the drive D:. The current loaded profile is in my case Mypal68.12.2 and set as default. I never install profiles into my system partition. If the partition was faulty or not bootable, all data would be lost. I always separate Windows and the programs from my data. Try to manipulate your profile.ini similarly, and no new folder will be created anymore. That happened in my case. There is a second file in this folder named installs.ini. with the following code: [E2373D2F645B4BBF] Default=d:\Eigene Dateien\Mypal\Mypal68\Profiles\Mypal68.12.2 Locked=1 After modifying in the way above, no new profile folders will be created anymore. I always update the already existing Mypal 68 installation by copying the new files over the old ones. All existing profiles remain, and no new ones are added. Hope I could help you! Cheers, AstroSkipper

Hello @XPerceniol! Here are my settings in Mypal 68 referring to canvas: As far as I can see, our settings are identical. Whether changing these settings have a real effect, I don't really know. especially due to the development state of this browser. Trial and error is presumably the game, or a statement of its developer @feodor2. Hope I could help you a bit!

OT, too! This morning I looked at a brochure from ALDI and there, in the online shop, they offer a gamer laptop with 1 TB SSD, 32 GB RAM, Intel Core i7 12700H and NVIDIA Geforce 3070 Ti laptop GPU with 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM for 2299.- €. No neighbourhood of 1000 Euros! ALDI?- 922 replies

Thank you for the clarification, @VistaLover! I already feared that martok would undo these modifications. On the other hand, it is easy to modify such things yourself. -
Hello, @XPerceniol! The article about DNS over HTTPS (DoH) I read was linked by @NotHereToPlayGames and very informative. I couldn't find it last night because it was in this thread here. Read it and you know what I mean! DoH, no way! Cheers, AstroSkipper

Adobe Flash, Shockwave, and Oracle Java on XP (Part 2)
AstroSkipper replied to Dave-H's topic in Windows XP
When I installed the latest version 1.19 of Martok's palefill add-on in NM, I didn't have to modify install.rdf to allow its installation. Same for the version before. He changed it in the past. Or does he want to revert his modifikations?
