I've looked at two different win-98 systems and neither have that "webview" key in the registry. And when I add that key and set it's value to 1, it does nothing. It does not put explorer in webview. So I have to conclude that the registry key you speak of above does not apply to windows 98. Is the webview setting or status found in the .htt file of any directory where the user has enabled webview? Is there no global webview = yes or webview = no in the registry? Well use regshot and you'll see what registry changes are taking place when you enable/disable that setting, there are more changes than that but this one obviously seemed to be the relevant one. And bear in mind that changing a global explorer setting in the registry does not instantly apply that setting, you'll need to either reboot, log off and back on or terminate and relaunch the explorer.exe process with a suitable process manager such as sysinternals Process Explorer to have such a setting to be applied.

Windows 98/ME skin for Opera 10.50/60/70 and 11

Thanks CharlesF, sorry it took so long to get my head around doing it. -
Did you copy it into the windows/system directory, that's where it should be.

ImgBurn should normally run in Windows 95 according to its website (and it's the best of all burners IMO btw). . http://www.imgburn.com/

In the registry. Enabled: [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "WebView"=dword:00000001 Disabled: [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "WebView"=dword:00000000 Btw, http://sourceforge.net/projects/regshot/ answers most of those kind of questions.

Windows 98/ME skin for Opera 10.50/60/70 and 11
loblo replied to loblo's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Thanks for feedback CharlesF, this is all done along with some other minor improvements (namely changing the color of the 1 pixel borders of popups from black to grey which I think is more elegant), links in the post above updated with the newer versions. Also updated post title and first post with all current links. -
One blank line at the end of a registry file always has been enough here... I am on Windows ME though. Btw, whenever I (extremely rarely) install Windows ME, the first thing I do is get rid of that PC Health and System Restore.

Found that free Active Partition Manager the other day btw, a windows only tool, haven't tested it beyond running it and displaying the partitions in my system though. http://www.pcdisk.com/

The fdisk.exe that is contained in the file fdisk-win98-lba48-fixed.zip that is linked to from the URL you gave is exactly the same (binary compare = true) to the 5/18/2000 version that Microsoft released years ago and which many people probably already have. I believe it's already been established that it can't partition drives larger than 512 gb. Oh well, I thought I had found something...

Windows 98/ME skin for Opera 10.50/60/70 and 11
loblo replied to loblo's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Better late than never, here comes the Opera 11 skin for Windows 98/ME. Two (identical) versions: Standard Skin replacement to replace the original standard skin in your opera/skin directory : http://www.mediafire.com/?dldidaoppoywa9u or Optional skin to go in your profile/skin directory and to be selected through the appearance options dialog: http://www.mediafire.com/?clxhusbwq8fctfw Quick and dirty work using the latest barracuda release as a base so let me know if there are any issues with it.. -
AFAIK, last versions compatible with Windows 98 SE are: MSSTDFMT.DLL version 6.00.8450 OLEAUT32.DLL version 2.40.4520 I have MSSTDFMT.DLL 6.01.9816 (from the year 2009) installed on my system and I don't think there are problems with it. 6.00.8804 and 6.01.9782, which are both older than the one I have and more recent than the one you have, should also work without issues I think. Not many programs use this file anyway. B)

oleaut32.dll v.5.1.2600.2180 is a XP version which is incompatible with your operating system. Fix it by installing this pack: http://www.mdgx.com/files/OLEUP.EXE. If the installer asks you to install a file that is older than the one already in place, make sure you say yes. I am not quite sure about msstdfmt.dll v.6.00.8804 since I think it should be OK normally but since it is dependent on oleaut32.dll, try to register it again after you've replaced the latter.

What are the versions of those files?
-
+1 Might just be that your Nero 5 can't work properly with recent optical medias. I have Nero 7 on Windows ME and it just can't burn certain CDs/DVDs at all when ImgBurn has no problems with them. ImgBurm kicks a** btw.

Copy gdiplus to the system directory and you won't have any more errors with it. As for other missing dlls let us know which one they are. You've got system Restore on 98FE?
-
BTW, I also installed the JRE 7.0.0.66 Preview but had to uninstall it because it doesn't work properly (crashes).

Here it goes like that with KernelEx installed for the latest java runtimes. I run the executable which seems to autoexit without doing anything. In fact it extracts an msi installer + cab file to a subfolder of C:\Windows\Application Data\Sun\Java named as the version to install. Then I run the msi installer from there and it installs normally. Just installed the newly released update 24 today, no problems.

Bumping this very old thread because I just found this LBA48 fixed fdisk: http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ihdd.ru%2Ffdisk&act=url&act=url Not tested though.

A dying mouse always gives me this error so I think the only items that might affect that in the windows components are the accessibility ones.

A few people users been reporting that missing flashing cursor issue all along the 10.50/60 series testing in the Opera forums and I myself suffer from it but it seems neither you nor CharlesF are experiencing it, so perhaps it's only affecting Windows ME and not 98 for some reason. The lack of flashing cursor does not affect 98SE. See this post! http://www.msfn.org/...971#entry940971 Sorry to bring back that non KernelEx related issue but since I found how to fix it I thought the tip might be useful for someone else who runs Opera 10 and above on Windows ME and is more than annoyed by it. So, the problem goes away when "Show scroll marker" is enabled in the Advanced/Browsing Preferences.

What are your CPU and GPU halohalo?
-
No clue but I am not sure AVEOdcNT.sys would work anyway.

Hi Xeno, I don't think it is necessary the installer does this: I even think it's very bad actually since log of wininit operations gets lost (why should it?) and any files previously replaced on startup by wininit which gets backed up in that dir on WinME also get lost (why should they?) Unless perhaps you are doing this because of some issue with system restore which I am not using (removed from my system since eons)? Seems to be running great as usual otherwise. Cheers and happy new year everyone.

What's wrong with Corel Draw 9? AFAIK kexcom is the file that allows some 2K-XP only ActiveX/COM files such as for example certain DirectShow filters, shell extensions, etc... to run. It is a rather recent addition to KernelEx.
-
AFAIK Hotspot Shield doesn't run on Win 98/ME with or without kernelEx. I am using Ultrasurf from time to time ( mostly when I want to view youtube content that is blocked in my country, the UK), not sure it's encrypted though but it's decently fast usually. Tor is another option which I believe is encrypted, there are Opera and Firefox portable bundles with integrated Tor support which cannot be easier to use. Tor is rather slow generally though.
