  1. It seems none of the DivX filters properties/settings pages do display. My guess is that those feature might be enabled for users who purchase DivX.
  2. FWIW, with KernelEx, latest working (and splendidly so) version of MPC-HC is 1.5.1.2903 and requires to be put in "Disable Custom Heap" compatibility mode: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpc-hc/files/MPC%20HomeCinema%20-%20Win32/MPC-HC%20v1.5.1.2903_32%20bits/ As for FFDShow the latest MSVC2008 build (rev3995_20111012) on http://www.xvidvideo.ru/, which is current, is all good: http://www.xvidvideo.ru/ffdshow-tryouts-project-x86-x64/ffdshow-tryouts-project-svn-3995-x86-x64.html
  3. I finally got around to test those and all I can say is great job felicitas. Btw I could get WebGL working with version 7 (didn't try with the other versions) by going in the about:config page and setting both webgl.force-enabled and webgl.prefer-native-gl to true. I have an nVidia 7950 GT GPU with unofficial 82.69 drivers and most webgl demos run splendidly.
  4. It probably works like that on SumatraPDF's intended 2K and above platforms and I guess that the search input field relies on some Microsoft library, which on 98/ME won't recognize unicode. I am afraid the only things you can do if you don't wan't to type is either paste the text copied in Sumatra in whatever application that accepts it and then copy it from there to then paste in Sumatra's search field or, convert the data in the clipboard with the utility linked below. http://www.codeguru.com/cpp/w-p/clipboard/article.php/c3009 There is perhaps an utilty that sits in the tray and does that conversion automatically which would avoid any of the extra user interaction both solutions above require but I couldn't find one with a quick google look-up. Edit: actually there is an auto-convert option in the utility I linked above so you could run it minimized at startup and then you could copy/paste from/to Sumatra as if normal anytime.
  5. Sumatra seems to copy text only in unicode format (check it out with Nirsoft's insideclipboard for example) and that's the reason you are having those issues. You can paste that only in certain text editors such as Akelpad (which is my default text editor btw) .
  6. It's probably a vc-1 file and you need to install the appropriate decoder which is here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/2/f/e2fcec4b-6c8b-48b7-adab-ab9c403a978f/wvc1dmo.cab If it still doesn't work after that either upload the file or post a MediaInfo report.
  7. Try reinstalling WMP9 and also the unofficial updates from mdgx's website which upgrade, between other things, the audio/video decoders required for wmv playback to more recent versions than the ones in the official download from MS. http://www.mdgx.com/wmp.htm#WMP
  8. I found it in some codec pack, I doubt it's legit though. http://codecpack.co/
  9. Yes it seems like it. Here are some results made with haali timecodec using null renderer. Video file used: http://e.dl.playstation.net/e/wipeouthd/assets/WipEoutHD_EN_1080p.zip (AVC - 1920x1080 - 59.940 FPS - 71s) 62s CoreAVC (CoreAVC.ax 2.0.0.0) 73s FFDSHow Video Decoder (ffdshow.ax 1.1.3984.0) 83s MPC Video Decoder (MPCVideoDec.ax 1.5.2.2993) 89s DivX H.264 Decoder (DivXDecH264.ax 9.0.1.21) 97s LAV Video Decoder (LAVVideo.ax 0.36) 112s MainConcept AVC/H.264 Decoder (mc_dec_avc_ds.ax 8.7.0.37256)
  10. That's odd, I wouldn't think there would be a difference between the two systems for that.
  11. Of course it does, I have just tried it right now with the version you link to. Perhaps you should type the full path to the ax file if it's not in the system search path.
  12. RUNDLL32.EXE FFDSHOW.AX,configure RUNDLL32.EXE FFDSHOW.AX,configureAudio RUNDLL32.EXE ff_vfw.dll,configureVFW
  13. I don't think that stuff should be added to KernelEx since none of those functions are properly emulated. I think it works because those functions are useless and are bypassed by using instead a function that is used anyway and can be run several time without changing anything and returns nothing. (If this is not correct, I am more than willing to learn from the mouth of someone who is knowldgeable enough why this works so well.) I couldn't get MFC100 to work so far unfortunately and I don't think I'll be able to.
  14. Jeskola XS-1, (the best soundfont player VST there is IMO) runs absolutely fine with the hacked MSVCR100 and MSVCP100 I posted above. http://jeskola.net/xs1/
  15. I couldn't use Windows ME without KernelEx those days, I'd be losing out too much.
  16. Well, as I have said: If you can come up with something better, and I am certain you've got the potential for that, you are more than welcome. Cheers.
  17. You can use GraphStudio to do video decoders and renderers performance tests, it's under the view menu, or you can also use haali timecodec (requires to have the haali splitter installed). Short video segments are recommended in both case since everything will be played back before results are given.
  18. Interesting thought but nope, I forgot to say that this was only for decoding the video stream using null renderer so no video card involved. An Mpeg-2 video of same dimension and a bit higher framerate plays almost normally and this includes rendering but AVC decoding is very demanding in terms of CPU, this is well known. I think the video hardware I have can cope with the 150-200MB/s of decompressed video frames the playback of those videos require. If you think I am wrong about that, please let me know why. I think that Sfor has somehow better results than me because I am on an AMD64 whose SSE/SSE2 performance is reportedly very poor.
  19. Well I have tried to play some HD video sample (1920x1072 AVC at 23.976 fps video in mkv container without audio) on my system which is probably as fast as a Windows ME system can get (Opteron 154 2.8GHz CPU and nVidia XFX 7950 GT graphic card) and I got low framerate, always under 20 fps and if I recall correctly more like around 15/16, regardless of what player/splitter/decoder configuration I used. HD video is not for Windows 98/ME I am afraid since either GPU decoding nor multiple CPU cores decoding is available to us.
  20. The only way to get some GPU decoding acceleration under Windows 98/ME would be to use the old and unavailable nVidia software package DVD Decoder (precursor to nVidia Pure Video). I might be wrong but I think you can forget about anything else since I believe that DXVA 1.0 which is part of the DirectX 8.1 specs and is therefore Windows 98 compatible has never been implemented apart from perhaps in the above mentioned nVidia payware decoder.
  21. In addition to the already mentioned players, others worth a look are: Zoom Player which natively supports 98/Me in it's latest beta and has the unique feature of being able to play DirectShow graphs/ http://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml MPlayer WW is the only current Mplayer based player that is fully working (must be used without skinned border as to avoid a resource leak when moving the window around). http://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayer-ww/ BSPlayer: http://www.bsplayer.com/ JetVideo which is very nice and use by default its own proprietary decoders which aren't based on ffmpeg/libavcodec like most of the rest so it is interesting to have. http://www.jetaudio.com/products/jetvideo/ Also of interest is that 2010 versions of MainConcept DirectShow MPEG-1/2 Demultiplexer, MP4 Demultiplexer, AVC/H.264 Decoder and AAC Audio Decoder are for grabs in the free Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 package: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=24601 The files you want to get from it are: mc_dec_aac.dll mc_dec_aac_ds.ax mc_dec_avc.dll mc_dec_avc_ds.ax mc_demux_mp2_ds.ax mc_demux_mp4_ds.ax And there is also LAVFilters a relatively new and interesting open-source alternative/complement to Haali/ffdshow which I have managed to hack so it does fully work under 98/ME. Here: LAVFilters 0.35 4 98/ME: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?0va7iua91htbco8 LAVFilters 0.36 4 98/ME: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?um1602u7i5a5h1p If you want to use that as file source splitter replacement then either get the installer available on Doom9 or edit the relevant registry keys under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Media Type\Extensions. And of course for everyone who likes to mess with DirectShow and test out various splitters/decoders configurations, GraphStudio is an invaluable tool with more feature than Graphedit and, best of all it doesn't crash before inserting any filter like Graphedit most often does. http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/tools/monogram-graphstudio/
  22. You're not running Potplayer on Windows98/ME or are you? Reason I am asking is that you operating system seems to be 2003 and that the only gripe I have with PotPlayer on Windows ME is that I can't access any configuration page in it aside from the initial one and that your screenshot shows a page I can't access.
