  1. If anyone's got problems installing the latest Java runtime like I had (Installer apparently auto-exits without doing anything), then have a look in the Windows/Application Data/Sun/Java folder where you'll find an msi installer along with a few data files. Running it installs the runtime just fine. Cool, thanks for confirming it is a generic problem and not one specific to windows ME like the missing flashing cursor.
  2. There is probably nothing wrong with those files. Thing is you can't open those with 7-Zip. Catalog.cab doesn't appear to actually be a a cab archive and the other one appears to be spanned with WIN_21.CAB, eg, if you open WIN_21.CAB you have access to the content of both WIN_21.CAB and WIN_22.CAB. To be confirmed or corrected by someone more knowledgeable than me.
  3. I can confirm that but perhaps this could be a feature of the pin tab function??? or not?
  4. Thanks CharlesF, I have installed that on top of RC5 and all good and jolly so far. I confirm that all Opera cosmetic glitches are gone. And file extensions now get automatically appended but this doesn't work 100% correctly like it does for Opera 10.63 as far as the save html /mht/txt file dialog goes at least. Let me explain: If when I open the dialog it is set for saving as mht and I want to save as text by choosing text file in the drop down menu I'll need to change the extension by hand from .mht to .txt in the file path field otherwise the file gets saved as text but with an .mht extension . With Opera 10.63 the file gets saves as text with a correct .txt extension even though it is not reflected in the file path field. But this has become a very minor issue since I nearly always save as mht and very rarely toggle between one filetype to another when saving web pages. I also can confirm that the speed in the download page appear in japanese characters. I have a similar issue with the latest version of ZDoom which displays a log in a window on starting and this is in japanese or perhaps chinese character when KernelEx is enabled on it. If I disable KernelEx then no log gets visibly displayed unlike with older versions of ZDoom which display the log correctly in english regardless if KernelEx is enabled or not.
  5. Sorry but I only have an old version of Air installed and I also have air packages downloaded when the runtime I have was current and all fail in the way described above so they definitely are normally compatible with the version of the runtime that is installed, not a version mismatch issue unlike what the error message tends to make one believe..
  6. That's unexpected Please someone reupload those bloody RC6 files. PS: Dave-H, they were only attached to a Tihiy post but he deleted them subsequently. I did download them but I deleted them from my machine after I decided I didn't want to install them.
  7. Interesting. I'm pretty sure this was the exact same error message given by the Netgear utility after the initial failure to install the included Adobe Air package. However, if you think an earlier version of AA really does install, then the trick could be to fake its version number and fool applications such as this utility. Joe. I think air installed on your system as good as it installed on mine but fails to function properly aferwards. I suppose your installer may work as follows, it first silently installs the air runtime and then does shellexecute on an .air file it includes which calls the air application installer that has just been installed and this one fails with the error message box I posted. And this would mean that the air runtime you have installed should be the right version for the air application it seeks to install/execute since they are bundled together. In my case I installed the then current air runtime and then downloaded air packages which were supposed to work with that runtime and also got the version error message so I don't think version mismatch is the actual issue. Unfortunately, as I don't have a working 2K or XP system here I couldn't compare an air runtime install on those systems with one on my ME system to see if there is some part of the installation that fails on the latter, hence the bracketed question mark in my initial post, but I wouldn't think this is the case, question mark remaining nonetheless as I can't have 100% certainty.
  8. Mmmh, I guess I should have been reading that since I posted in this thread just a few posts after the one you link to but I don't think I did. Not an ideal workaround as it puts you in insert mode . Very minor issue for me anyway. So yeah it only affects ME and 98SE2ME systems then. Thanks for the head up.
  9. That is the main problem. I cannot save anything. By right-click, with the save button or Ctrl+S, the whole browser is crashing! For me it doesn't crash, it used to with the previous KernelEx build but sice xeno fixed the issue it's OK here. Just I need to append the file extension each time by hand in the filename field of the save dialog box otherwise the file gets saved without extension. This is very annoying and actually the main reason why I don't use 11 atm.
  10. A few people users been reporting that missing flashing cursor issue all along the 10.50/60 series testing in the Opera forums and I myself suffer from it but it seems neither you nor CharlesF are experiencing it, so perhaps it's only affecting Windows ME and not 98 for some reason.
  11. Well, all air files apparently get correctly installed (in Program Files/Common Files/Adobe AIR) and the registry entries appear to be correctly written as well (otherwise this message wouldn't popup without the .air extension being correctly registered and the executable handling them correctly in place) so it would seem to me the install is not failing.
  12. I haven't yet used the final build but the little issues I have seen while testing a bit (before they introduced tab stacking) were: 1) Some symbols don't display properly in web pages (the arrow to navigate previous next page on this forum for example) 2) The About Opera page is not properly formatted. 3) On saving files no extension is appended automatically to the filename. 4) And of course the missing flashing cursor issue in edit fields affecting the 10.x builds remains. That's all I have noticed. Btw, the build I am using as my default browser is 10.70 9050 and it requires KernelEx as well but it can load the ansi dll from 10.63 and doesn't require specific 2K compatibility mode. If I put it in 2K mode most of the the above issues appear (just not sure right now if the missing extension on saving file does).
  13. Ok, I'll have a look since 11 is now final (I am not using it myself so far) but don't expect anything before the end of the year.
  14. I could install the air runtime without much problems some time ago but, despite the fact it seems to be installed properly (?), it doesn't want to execute air files, always throwing this message box:
  15. I think Opera never used the old java plugin. AFAIK, up to the 9.x series it was using its own internal mechanism to hook into the java runtime and they've ditched that with the 10.x series to use the new java plugin instead.
  16. You're very welcome . We thank you for your efforts to keep this OS alive. +1 Cheers
  17. I was just thinking that perhaps in your case default mode means KernelEx is disabled if you've installed choosing it the option to not enable KernelEx on all executable by default. I've never installed it in that way so perhaps I am missing something there and my first answer doesn't apply.
  18. Yeah I guess you did everything allright albeit I don't think you need the pdb file but it it doesn't hurt if it's there anyway. As for SAS, I never installed it but I understand you did and it is working fine so what is the problem? Cheers.
  19. This thread is way off topic and anyway again, this wikileaks is a government sanctioned psyop IMO. And btw there are lots of easy to find and uncensored specialized forums where you can debate the pros and cons of that to your heart content...
  20. Default compatibilty options means KernelEx is enabled, not disabled, but is not in a particular special mode. What's necessary to understand for optimal use though is why there is a default mode in the specific compatibilty mode drop down list in addition to the default compatibilty options check box since they are both the same. For example sometimes you'll find that you need to put an executable in a specific compatibilty mode such as 2K or XP mode which is inherited by default by dlls the program uses but one or another dll won't work properly because it can't cope well with that compatibilty mode. That's when you waqnt to use the a different compatibilty mode from the drop down list for the non working dll. Example: I run foobar2000 in XP mode and force default mode on the foo_dsp_vstwrap.dll third party component who doesn't work correctly when it inherits XP mode.
  21. Wikileaks = CIA
  22. Researched that. It was working in 4.5b2 and won't work anymore since it's makes bad assumptions about process/thread IDs. This change was removed in RC1 since it caused a lot of troubles. Too bad Thanks for looking into it anyway.
  23. You need to define APPDATA and USERPROFILE environment variables.Too cool, it works now, thanks.
  24. I can tell you that there are a few programs (not many) I can't run but would love to and it's been quite hard to refrain myself asking whether they could be made to work until now. I personally don't care about FF3 printing issues at all but would love to be able to run: Picturenaut 3 - http://www.hdrlabs.com/picturenaut/index.html (crashes on launch in msvcrt) Aodix 4 - http://www.aodix.com/pageaodixv4.html (runs but does not display the UI inside the window) FFRend - http://ffrend.sourceforge.net/ (runs but crashes in nvidia dlls as soon as I load a video or image file) VST plugins written with the Juce GUI framework such as those: http://www.rs-met.com/freebies.html (they load in hosts but either display a blank UI or the UI seem to have a zero vertical size and extremely big horizontal size). Handiest host to quickly test this out is savihost - http://www.hermannseib.com/english/savihost.htm (drag drop the vst plugin dll onto the savihost executable and voilà) That's about it for my wish list besides the regression which makes the recent versions of Apophysis 2 (those who can load plugins) display indefinitely a big hourglass again. (used to be fixed in an older release of KernelEx). - http://sourceforge.net/projects/apophysis/files/
