  1. You may try installing a full (un-nlited) version and see if the problem exists? If it does, then you need to find the drivers yourself somewhere. If it does not, use a program called double driver or similar driver backup program to make a backup of these virtual drivers and install them in you nlited xp.
  2. probably far easier to use ryanvm pack as mentioned above. use nlite to integrate them.
  3. my spanish is a little rusty. english please.
  4. "Take Ownership" is simply a command prompt script that runs. It's added to the context menu via registry: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;Created by Vishal Gupta for AskVG.com [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas] @="Take Ownership" "NoWorkingDirectory"="" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas\command] @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F" "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas] @="Take Ownership" "NoWorkingDirectory"="" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas\command] @="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t" "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"
  5. It's really not an "issue" since it worked on earlier builds. MS just disabled it for current builds. Perhaps cluberti has an insight?
  6. I need to share a printer to a user who doesn't have a profile on a computer attached to the printer at home. My desktop is a Vista x64 that has the printer attached and shared over the network. I have 3 profiles on it - A, B, and C. My sister's laptop has three profiles, B, C, and D; where her profile is D and is not on the desktop. I'm B and I can use the printer over the network. However, she (D) can't use the printer because she doesn't have a profile. Is there a way I can share the printer to her without adding her as a user to the desktop? I've tried everything I can think of.
  7. So, an OEM does not require you to reactivate each time you reinstall? I've never dealt with an OEM before.
  8. what he's trying to say is, screensavers have the file extension *.scr. copy the file of that screensaver and transfer to the computer that you want to put it on. although you are breaking the eula, it's kind of like fonts - you can't transfer them to any computer you want.
  9. did the problem occurs after upgrading from 7057 to 7068? is so, i believe there were app compatibility breaks by builds after 7057. for example, comodo firewall works great on build 7057. but it doesn't work at all in 7068.
  10. That's unusual. Mine shows the amount installed. Also, after build 7068, as far as I can see, WEI cannot be calculated for VHD installs.
  11. For widescreen monitors, it's nice to snap (or "dock") the taskbar to the side of the screen rather than at the bottom. Anyone know if the taskbar can be inverted so that the start button is on the bottom instead of the top? It would be good to have this option.
  12. I don't see why you couldn't place the VDH in the OS root. I'm got mine placed in C:\Shared\ folder in Vista. As far as x64 vs x86, I'm going to try that on my sis's laptop, which has x86 vista pre-installed. Will post findings here. The directory will not have hidden/system attributes on it's own. Of course, you won't be able to delete the VHD file while you've got Windows 7 loaded. When in Vista, however, you can delete that file accidentally. I'm sure you can make it system/hidden on your own while in Vista though.
  13. Has anyone tried this trick to make their boot time faster? I found it here: Boot Win 7 or Vista faster. Here are the instructions: 1. Press Win + R to open “Run” dialog window. 2. Type MSConfig into the text box after “Open”. 3. Go to Boot tab. 4. For dual-boot or multi-boot system, make sure that the operating system to make the change is selected. 5. Click on Advanced options button. 6. Tick the check box for Number of processors, and then select the maximum number count of CPU core processors value from the drop down list. 7. Click OK twice to exit System Configuration. 8. Restart computer. I wonder if this really works or is a myth...
  14. how does one go from 7068 to 7093? also, the taskbar is different. i don't think ms will make a drastic change to the gui at this point. guess he got fooled.
  15. If you started with partitions already setup, then it will not create this partition. However, if you format your drive using the GUI format, then Windows 7 will take the liberty to create the system partition. See first post on how to avoid this with diskpart.
  16. Anyone tried pressing Shift+F10 during setup. Start diskpart. Create partition. Format it. then run setup. My guess is that if the partitions are already set up, then it will not create this partition. BTW, which later builds? I just tried 7057 on VPC and it creates a 200 mb partition. Also, note that a VHD install does not create this partition. Addendum: well I just confirmed my suspicion. During setup, before doing anything, if you start command prompt and use diskpart to create and format the partition, exit diskpart and command prompt, and then continue to install Windows 7, it will not create a 100 mb or 200 mb system partition. So, no need to start Vista or XP setup first or use any third party software.
  17. Yup! I use InfraRecorder because it comes in x64 variety. Haven't seen others in that variety. However, it's not perfect. Had issues with burning a UDF image.Basically, your list of "reviews" falls short on the number of programs out there.
  18. Humm, where did you find that UDF images are not bootable? My Windows 7 image is UDF and it's bootable. Has nothing to do with the size of install.wim (yes, if it's > 2 gb and you need it in UDF format but that is not the reason for being unbootable). UltraISO handles UDF file format just fine. Most likely, your CD boot loader might be corrupt. Is your Vista disk an original vanilla copy? If not, then, hummm....
  19. for bad software, need a malware/antivirus program. for prevention - a firewall. for other system cleaning, seach for ccleaner.
  20. I use the basic theme and the display goes blank playing videos. It's random as to when it happens; haven't been able to pinpoint it yet. I lose keyboard/touchpad input. I hear sound but screen totally blank. Have to reboot. Hey, it's beta. send 'em feedback and hope they get it fixed. Good luck.
  21. Comodo Internet Security works now. The compatibility issue has been worked out. Although antivirus is not that good, the firewall is great.
  22. I do like vLite a lot but with Windows 7, we might be able to live without it. You are able to remove certain components after installing (like ie8, movie maker, etc) - just be content with that!
  23. Your explanation is vague at best. You could help with an example. However, let me just say Excel cannot do summations in the sense you speak of sigma(x-10). You need to come up with a formula that will give you the nth sum for sigma(x-10). So, for you example of sigma(x-10), the series would be sum of 1 = (1 - 10) = -9 sum of 2 = (1 - 10) + (2 - 10) = -17 sum of 3 = (1 - 10) + (2 - 10) + (3 - 10) = -24 sum of 4 = .... sum of n = (n)(n+1)/2 - 10n Again, if this is not what you're looking for, you need to be more specific.
  24. downloaded the portable version. at a quick glance gui is much more polished than ccleaner. the report for files that need to be deleted are categorized compared to ccleaner. windows can't be resized :-( supports google chrome, opera, and safari as well the cleaning options are pretty similar to ccleaner. only difference is ie is included as a windows component in ccleaner vs browers in fcleaner. biggest difference is fcleaner does not have a registry cleaner.
