  1. You can try to clean your disks as well as your heads, ONLY USE COMPRESSED AIR ON THE HEADS!, also, try slipstreaming your SATA drivers to the CD and do it that way see if that works, it should keep you from having to push F6. One more thing to assure yourself of, do you have the raid controller for the sata drives on in the bios? Also, is it set up, (usually a screen saying to set it up press CTRL+F or something to that effect before you get to CD Loading...) If not it's not going to copy anything either.
  2. Ok, I don't know if anyones asked and answered this yet or not, because I cannot find it, maybe someone with a MSDN account can answer this for me, what are the cd names for XP SP2? I know that XRMPFPP_EN is XPPRO SP1 and WXPFPP_EN is XPPRO Gold and that X1APFPP_EN is XPPROSP1, but what is the name of the disk for XPPRO SP2? Also, if you can enlighten those whom have home what the naming is for them as well for SP2. I know that most can be found on "TackTech", but they didn't have the ones for SP2 listed yet, and I was curious if what I was using was correct or not. ***EDIT*** Quest is over, Jotnar found it for me. Thanks Jotnar! He has included all of them, for all versions of Windows from Windows 95 on, in his post below, if your interested. edit (by Sonic): Jotnar's post : http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=25018&st=32#
  3. As I have yet to test this, I'm not sure it works, but from what I have determined, if you want to set an icon for your drive make one and name it HDD.ico. Place this in the $OEM$\$1 folder along with this autorun.inf: [autorun] ICON=AUTORUN\HDD.ICO It should look like this once you boot into windows: C:\AUTORUN\HDD.ico C:\AUTORUN.INF To add it to other drives, once you boot into the O/S, just copy those two items into each drive. When you reboot, it should show the drives with the icon you made as it's icon in Explorer. HTH. ***EDIT*** If you don't want to make one, there are plenty of sites such as FOOODS that has them already done, if your doing it for non-commercial use then I believe it will be ok to put one of theirs on your cd, if you want to make 100% sure then send them an email and ask before you use it. Or you can just pay to have one made for you by one of the icon makers.
  4. I realized that, I was just telling you, if you need those two, I have both the full disks for them and can package them up for you to obtain, if you need them.
  5. Exactly, it wont work because your using Winnt32.exe and that's not a native dos file, you have to open Winnt.exe to install from a dos partition, unless your running WinPE, BartPE or the like first to install it. HTH.
  6. Kewl program, believe it was just what I was looking for, thanks. (I hate trying to work with Apache'.) Now maybe I can finally move my website to my DVD...ROFL...
  7. As McAfee says it's not a virus nor a trojan, it's a tool that is commonly used by viruses and trojans. Therefore a virus scanner wont pick up on it, though a program such as Pest Patrol might. Have you thought to run Pest Patrol GM?
  8. mmm, could it have been here: http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/w/webdownloader.asp Also a GG search: http://www.google.com/search?q=WebDownloader turned up this: http://www.dark-e.com/archive/trojans/fcwe...r/2/index.shtml anyway's glad I could be of some assistance, even if it was moot.
  9. From which manufacturer are they? Linksys Wireless PCI and USB-11 cards.
  10. I also found this too, http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=ST&f=80&t=16094 not sure if that's what your looking for or not, both Aaron and Bombtrack mention it. Bombtrack has the instructions for it in his post. Not sure if that's what your looking for though or not. When you do the search use W-Get that may help you find what your looking for.
  11. The following is an excerpt from McAfee.com: Threat Profile: Tool-WGet Risk Assessment - Home Users: N/A - Corporate Users: N/A Date Discovered: 8/1/2002 Date Added: 3/17/2004 Origin: Unknown Length: Varies Type: Program SubType: Win32 DAT Required: 4218 Program Characteristics This is not a virus or trojan. It is a legitimate application for retrieving files from the Internet via HTTP and FTP. The application has been misused by certain pieces of malware in order to facilitate remote downloads. The exact file size varies (there are many different versions), and it may be packed with a PE packer (eg. UPX, Aspack). Malware that use this tool maliciously typically do so using the quiet switch, disabling screen output. Users who would like to check for the presence of potentially unwanted programs on their system should run the command line scanner with the /PROGRAM switch. 12. Yea, I know it totally sux, I was so hoping when the announced MCE a while back when it was still in beta stage, that they would release it as an option to Win XP Pro, for those who actually had tuners in their systems, but unfortunately M$ screwed us on that one making it only available if your an OEM, or a system builder, now. Having had to put up with ATI's crappy software to do what is possible through the MCE has been a migrane to say the least. Now that they even have the drivers to make it possible to use the MCE with ATI's products, they should release it so that a consumer can build their own system and still obtain a copy of this version of XP to install on it. (Even though it actually worked before on my computer with the ATI card installed w/o specialized drivers. I have a HP MCE from when they were first released, it was a prize from M$ for entering their contest about the new MCE's. I just pulled the HDD from it and put it in my system, booted and it worked, no mods were neccessary.)
  13. quick question what about integrating dotnet2, is it possible to replace what is in the netfx folder with an extracted v2 and install it from there? Or do we still want to stay away from v2?
  14. The problem with the example is maybe that they aren't real sites. Also, in Changes to Winnt.sif I give the download sites at M$ website to obtain both tools, (Deploy and Support). They are the RTM versions.
  15. Thanks Aaron for doing this for us. Nice job on the last one, hopefully the next one will be just as great.
  16. And not to mention lost the battle with Sun over it in a large battle that caused M$ to lose the ability to include it in it's operating systems. IMO, they should have just said, ok were sorry, and we'll start including Sun's version in our operating system, as Apple did on the Mac platform.
  17. Looks good, but isn't that the included version 6 that is being installed on SP2 anyways? Also, what about the shockwave player, is that also being installed?
  18. You have to define the user account in Unattended, but it worked when I did it last time with SP1. Which is why I recommended the Default User account, you don't have to define it as it's already defined. Only difference is if you do it that way then everyone that logs into the computer initially has their screen look that way.
  19. what's this /f? also if you notice that on some of them you have it as \f that could be your problem.
  20. Try making a CD with the gold version of XP, (non-sp version,) and then xcopy all of it to say C:\XPCD. Once you did that, use the command -integrate to integrate it. Then get a copy of the CDImage_Pro from the finish portion of the unatteded.msfn.org site and use it to recompile the .ISO to X2PFPP_EN.ISO that should work. If not let us know. For more information check out: Guide for Installing and Deploying Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2
  21. Not sure but it could, especially if there is a file or two missing in them. If you have edonkey or shareaza, You can PM me and I'll tell you how to get a copy that is already made up for SP-2.
  22. Ok, did you use the actual CD or an ISO? Also, do you have Shareaza?
  23. Which way are you doing the slipstream? Through an automated process or through directions such as on the M$ site?
  24. Let's see if I can answer some of the questions some people had on here, first the one about he $OEM$\Textmode, acording to M$, you have to put that folder into your I386 folder for it to work properly from what I read on their site. So it should look like I386\$OEM$\Textmode. As far as the one goes about the placement of icons on the desktop, if you look in your desktop folder, (you have to first unhide hidden/system files,) you should see a desktop.ini file, if you look inside that it should have the settings for how you have your desktop layed out, just copy that to the $OEM$\$$\$Docs\(username)\Desktop directory and it should do the trick for you. Also, you can put things into the \$Docs\Defualt User directory and everyone who logs into the computer will have the same settings. Comes in handy when you want to put a list of favorites for everyone to use that logs into the computer. I also use it to copy over default settings and such that I want everyone who logs into my system to use. HTH.
  25. I was just basically wanting to know if anyone else had looked into the new help file, ref.chm, and noticed that there were a few more things in it, that now can be handled with in the Winnt.sif, (unattended file,) that apparently wasn't there before. There seems to be more options in it, though it could just be me, that wasn't in the previous versions. The firewall, pop-up blocker, and security center aside, there seems like there is now also a way to install the apps inside this file, that didn't look like was there before. Though as I said, with my epilepsy, sometimes I have a problem with understanding things, but wouldn't it be easier to just use the calls in this file than make several other files to do the same exact thing. I posted links to the developer tools as well as the support tools for anyone who was interested in looking over what I was talking about that didn't already have a copy of these files. From what I have gathered the reason things are being done the way they are is for customization purposes, which can't be done inside the Winnt.sif file, for that reason I can understand why those items are done the way they are, but for the things that are possible through this, why that way isn't shown or explained as part of the unattended instructions. Maybe they are, and due to my epilepsy, I have not been able to put two and two together and realize it yet. Sorry for all the confusion, but I hope this clears up what I was asking.
