  1. You could try to set everything on Cable Select (CS) and let the BIOS do the work. A jumper is just made out of a metal conductor and a plastic housing, nothing special .
  2. Did you try the latest BIOS update?
  3. Seems like a half dead unit to me, it uses 2 lasers so the one used to read the DVD must be dead/bad. You can´t access a DVD at all or it´s just not reproducing video in media player?
  4. Well, as you can see they started to spam already here with their company. I would now think twice about keeping that product.
  5. That´s what we try to do here.Goed werk, we zijn er blij mee!
  6. Disconnect the Harddisk and Optical drive and tell us what it does...
  7. I´m just watching and eating my popcorns here; I put my money on a bad Video card with shader problems .
  8. Or just let them deal with the problem, tjeez, what a mess they make and how could they sell it like that as a "kit"...Ask them to swap it for a DDR2 board from Gigabyte or so and with normal voltage DDR2 RAM or just plain ask your cash back and buy something else there as I don´t think they will give your whole paid price back (don´t know about restocking, but it´s not your fault is theirs...)... Man this p***es me off... Finally you got to build your new PC and they sell you crap...
  9. If it´s the tower model than it´s just the standard PSU, if it´s the slim version than as far as I know it´s not a standard sized PSU.
  10. There is a possibility that the frag-tape has come off, but since is mostly foam like I would think that the chance is small. But indeed, you never know, it sure sounds like a heat problem...
  11. No, the onboard HD3200 does work quite well I must say, even better than your 6600GT. Pick something else then, CL6 looks outdated to me, like the first DDR2 800MHz modules. Also check out other brands, plus that board has native 1066MHz DDR2 support and those are not much pricier either, just look at the voltage it need. Personal I would pick anything that works under 2.1 volt. All other parts should work perfectly. Just keep the BIOS set to IDE as the ACHI setting could give you some problems if your harddisk doesn´t support it. Drivers under Vista, bad produced chips and those will burn out. Sure nVidia has a "fix" called: "Motherboard builders, don´t use the faulty chips"... what a joke...
  12. Let me show you where I´m going at: ASUS M3A78-EM, Information found here and here. The memory you picked is okay, they come at C5 and 1.8v so it´s as standard as it can get. The onboard HD3200 will perform better than your older 6600GT plus it supports DX10 and HDMI as a plus when you go with Vista. EDIT: There are cheap USB add-on PCI cards as well, but I guess you feel like upgrading .
  13. Also, are we talking about a 2.5" drive or a 3.5"?
  14. That´s normal Ceez, so don´t worry about that. Is there a way to return the whole pile and can you pick something else? They sold it as a bare bone so I would say they tested it before shipping? Was it already build or they send it to you in separated boxes?
  15. If it blows out only cold air than there is probably no power on the CPU so it must be a motherboard problem and that can be very expensive.
  16. Welcome to Dell, but you already knew you were screwed. Now you have hit another problem; the case can´t be used for a standard ATX motherboard so you have to buy a new case as well plus add a fan on top of the stock cooler (or did you get the other CPUs with fan?).
  17. First I would like to ask what you are planning to do with the computer. Second I would suggest staying away from nVidia for at least 6 months until all there bad build GPUs and Chipsets are used; the base layer under the silicon can be damaged easily by heat on some chips from nVidia. For now it´s known for the G84 and G86 chips but who knows on what chipsets more they used the faulty layer, think about the HP laptops with nVidia chipset...An AMD 780 or 790 chipset with integrated ATI HD3200 would be a better option. But first we would like to know what you are planning to do with the computer .
  18. Did you install the chipset drivers as well? Sometimes it also helps to remove the older drivers as well, so first you install the KB by hand and then apply the Realtek driver, although as far as I know that KB is already a part of SP3.
  19. It´s a well build brand, using mostly the ATI design for board layout and with that the stock ATI cooler. Compared with others I can´t say much about HIS, I usely go with Sapphire (Who only makes ATI based cards).
  20. Only when you overclock, at stock speeds an low/mid range AMD is still a good pick...
  21. Like Zxian said, you could benchmark it however you will not see any diference in performance with that card between a PCI-E 1.1 and 2.0.
  22. Okay, I wasn´t clear enough about that, I was talking about your video RAM that is on your video card, aside of that, I see where the red spots are and that looks more like a shader problem to me.Your card is just bad, return it for an exchange or try to get an ATI .
  23. I would return the card as it´s seriously bad, your PSU should be fine, if possible and you can pick another one than go with an ATI card.
