  1. Try out NOD32 or Kaspersky, more virus defs.
  2. Yup, for example, I wanted the Flash plugin for Opera, so I downloaded the Flash player installer, ran it in the box, grabbed the plugin from the Opera's plugin folder it made, then deleted the box's contents. Although the current version seems to have a filesize limit, which sucks. It should be whatever your HD free space is...
  3. If you're advising someone in IE, use trusted zones, the HOSTS file, disable Java and ActiveX. Ad-Aware, Spybot, M$ AntiSpyware & common sense.
  4. Sandboxie acts as an interceptor to the write operations a program or file sends after you send read operations to it. Sandboxie acts as a "virtual" isolation chamber for anything you run inside of it. If you want a 100% guarentee of security when browsing with *any* browser, run it within the Sandboxie first, go to the most infested sites you can think of, feel safe and confident while doing it. When you're finished, browse the contents of Sandboxie to see every single file that was downloaded/cached. Once you're done, delete the sandboxie contents and be on your way as if you had simply gone to Google. Sandboxie is free and not even 400 KBs. www.sandboxie.com
  5. @LLXX, but isn't Proxomitron outdated and no longer developed? @jaclaz, yeah, in a perfect world...

    nLite Error

I suggest you stop making assumptions little one. I use my PC for several things, and those who know how much I nLite my PC are surprised I can do all of them! It's 20 MBs I have no constant use for. That being said, it doesn't get on my system. I don't care if I have 50 PBs of space, I'm not installing 20 MBs of something I don't need. Now you go browse your web and leave me to what I do. Actually, if you even bothered to notice the screenshots in my signature, you'd realize one of the few things I do is play HL2DM. Edit - piXelatedEmpire, I actually appreciated your post. I think you meant bottled leaf wouldn't like it.
  9. Try Outpost Firewall. And why are you even using a download accelerator?
  10. @ProblemChild - For videogames, sure... but not for operating systems. @eidenk, Win2k is probably still worth patchng. WinME was an unfinished pile of crap that isn't worth the dirt under your carpet. @redxii, WinXP has been out for 5 years. Win98 has had it's run. Time to move on.
  11. Win95/98/ME is dead as far as I'm concerned. After 8 years, it's time the rest of the world got up-to-date. Don't like XP, use nLite, simple as that. or go to Linux.

    nLite Error

I don't have a raptor X like you do. I also use XPize Lite and integrate it with nLite, no need for NET2.0. I don't like having things like Java or NET on my system. It's as simple as that.

    NAV2005

I've removed everything but: (components actually relevant to OS functionality) IE Core MDAC DHCP Client Event Log NLA WMI ... and Kaspersky works like a charm! You can just sense these topics taking a turn for the worst... lol
  14. http://ksphere.free.fr/public/codecslite/WM10Lite.exe Try that.

    nLite Error

Well, I don't intend on installing the full .NET 2.0. The Runtimes have worked in the past, I don't know what would cause them to stop working all of a sudden. I'll just wait until the next release.

    nLite Error

Uninstalled, deleted and reinstalled several times, same thing.
  17. http://hosted.filefront.com/JeremyofMany I'll be adding new videos here occasionally.
  18. Well, I'm mostly interested in getting a few other HL2DM players aware of what we're trying to do, because we need more than a 3-man clan. lol
  19. Yeah, I know it isn't *that* popular, but I thought at least 5 people who played HL2DM could contact me or post in this thread and we can all see how we do against another group of people.
  20. If there are any HL2DM fans, post here if you think it would be a good idea to have a "MSFN Clan". Also, what other online multiplayer games are people playing?
  21. Wow, I don't think that could have possibly been anymore obvious.

    nLite 1.1

Component removal. (Services or whatever is left.)
  23. That post was 2 years ago, dude, you're wasting your time.
  24. JV16 PowerTools 2006 (the best registry cleaner out there IMHO) has a Directory Find feature that allows you to search for folders of pretty much any criteria. Simply specify that you are looking for folders of less than 1 byte in size and it will list all the empty directories on each drive you specify. You can then conveniently press Ctrl + A to select all and Delete them at the same time. I would be cautious, however, because even though some folders are empty, they are needed by software. Just be careful.

    nLite v1.0 Final

Well, it finally continued onto the next phase of setup, but it sat there installing my "mouse and keyboard and flickering my monitor" for a good 10-15 minutes. It always used to take 45-60 seconds. I noticed that after RyanVM's pack was finished integrating with nLite, a message told me that due to the mass amount of hotfixes, slowness would likely be experienced during initial stages of setup. But 10-15 minutes instead of 1 minute? Is that reasonable? Anyone notice this?
