  1. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...0&Product=winxp they are saying something about a bios problem in that page more reading at http://www.computing.net/windows2000/wwwbo...orum/31272.html http://www.techsupportforums.com/showthread.php?p=99500
  2. I host stuff on my isp space free and fast
  3. not often enough I'd say oh, and btw, that search link isn't as handy as you'd think. it seems to ignore the code stuff, and that's where lots of stuff is hidden
  4. seems the start/wait doesn't work once windows is loaded tho at least not from the run command, maybe it would from a batch file. I'm still a bit of a b00n with that, as I've rarely tried unattended software installs. but the batch file could be copied to the hard drive, and modified to only install the software one wished. I usually just echo out the command lines I don't wish to install, thus saving loss of install lines
  5. yeah, I read thru that one as best I could, and also searched the text for personalized. didn't find the tweak for removing personalized menus, but I'll look again I did however find the thing to add the favorites, so I'm going to test that very soon :-)
  6. great. both threads are over 60 pages long, and my searches have turned up nothing useful but thanks for no help anyway
  7. very well, I'll read that However, I'm still looking to find the regtweak to disable the personalized menus so I don't have to manually do it. Also, looking for a way to automatically show favorites as well so that's not a manual thing also I searched the entire forum for +personalized +menus, and only came up with this thread
  8. I feel a little dumb, but I keep seeing T-12 and other such things how do I know where that is in the installation process?
  9. as far as I know, all microsoft operating systems are language specific. they install in the language they are designed for
  10. sorry, but the only xp titanium I could find was have any more info on that?
  11. better yet, learn how to make an unattended CD or DVD that installs your programs unattened along with windows. you could risk overwriting your existing windows, it might or might not get you out of a jam. Just remember not to use your same login name as you are using now, as then you risk losing your mydocuments stuff. But seriously, consider backing up your data and formatting. You can save your emails, address book, favorites, email settings, etc quite easily so they can be restored on the fresh install to look just like it does now, except without the problems.
  12. programs that will run on 64 bit will work the same way. I did an unattended install, office loaded but I didn't run it. Zonealarm does NOT work Norton does NOT work Adaware installed, but I didn't test it. Winzip installed but I didn't test it Adobe reader installed but I didn't test it. The autologin I've been using worked I even used the regtweaks but didn't thoroughly check those all out But like I said, driver support sucks, so it's definitely not ready for regular use
  13. For those who slipstreamed SP2 into their installation, I've heard no problems I actually installed it on a 9 month old installation of windows for both my wife's and my computer with no problems. But I'm a little anal about keeping windows clean too. No ad/spyware allowed, plus I keep the registry clean as well. I just remember how people said SP1 was evil. I suspect that was the bootleggers who couldn't upgrade
  14. Gotta love DVD burners I bought a DVDrom for puters I build that won't ship with a dvd drive. I use the same DVD for all puters, and change serial numbers and user names to match OEM software license. Floppies are so useful for such things
  15. Downloading as we speak gotta test it soon
  16. mine says Service Pack 2 and did you modify that picture to put the XXXXXX XXXXXX stuff in or is that how your computer is registered?
  17. ^_^

    password lost

Oh look, Symantec bought that company
  18. yeah, maybe once driver support is better try finding audio drivers for 64bit

it's EZ don't have an affair cuz you'll always get caught serves you right
  20. I use RegCleaner for tthat sort of thing. quick, EZ painless, free http://www.majorgeeks.com/download460.html
  21. does everything else in your batch file install correctly? if so, can you post the contents of your batch file?
  22. Can you update adaware? Make sure you have the latest adaware from www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download Then update the definitions Now restart your computer in safe mode by repeatedly pressing F8 key during bootup process right after POST, but before it starts loading windows this will bring up a boot menu, use arrow keys to select safe mode, then press enter once you are in safe mode, run adaware & make sure it scans all files including compressed files that will make sure no software is running that will prevent adaware from running and also will allow it to delete any adware files after scanning, restart computer in regular mode just to make sure there's no registry entries it would have missed. this should help, and at least be a starting point
  23. maybe you need to try firefox definitely run adaware, it helps get rid of most toolbars, run it in windows safe mode if you have to, that way you'll know none of the suspect files will be loaded in memory, and adaware will be able to remove them
  24. maybe also take a look at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/start_corp.asp and do an online scan truthfully, it sounds more like an adware problem to me, but hedge your bets
