The reg-file I've added for KB2286198 is doing the HonorAutorunSetting. KB2286198+HonorAutorunSetting replaces KB967715 So, there's no need for KB967715 anymore.

New update-list for XP: 2010-08-03 - Added: WindowsXP-KB2286198-x86.reg to add the registry-entry "HonorAutorunSetting" which is previously done by KB967715. Thx to -X-

To log missing updates which are not reported as missing because they are on the ignore-list? Isn't it the same? Example: Or do you just mean to log the complete ignore-list?
-
Hi -X-, great hint! THX!!! I will update the list... Hi NLZ, if I understood it right, the file-checker shall check if there are entries in the ignore-list which are unneeded, because the corresponding update is now obsolete? To log missing updates which are not reported as missing because they are on the ignore-list?

New xp-update-list: 2010-08-02 - Added: KB2286198 - Removed: KB967715 (replaced by KB2286198)

new file-checker: 2010-07-21 - Fixed: "+"-dependencies are now working when searching for missing updates. new file-checker extension for XP: 2010-07-21 - Fixed: Moved KB941569 from the (general) WIN-section to WMP9

You're faster than me... : That's what I want to post now!Yesterday, after uploading and shutting-down the computer I noticed that I've forgotton the remark KB941569 with the hint that's it's needed only in combination with WMP9. And the file-checker is the same what you see in my list. I have also to 'mark' KB941569 in the FC with WMP9. Today I'll uploading it again. Btw... KB941569 should only be listet as missing when wmfdist95.exe was found. And if you select WMP11 and use wmfdist95.exe, wmfdist95.exe should be listet as 'wrong'. CU, Mimo --- edit --- That's another thing I've fixed! This type of dependency was not handled correctly when searching for mssing updates (it just works if existing updates are checked for wrong/obsolete).
-
So, I've tested the following: using the setting from Trustee with the following changes: - no WU/MU (I think it doesn't makes the difference) - DON'T using wmfdist95.exe The result: Windows-Update doesn't expecting KB941569! So KB941569 is only needed when using WMP9+wmfdist95.exe!!! New file-checker extension for XP: 2010-07-20 - Fixed: Reactivated KB941569 and added a dependency: This update is needed when using the combination WMP9 + wmfdist95.exe (KB891122) - Fixed: Update-check for Malicious Software Removal Tool v3.9 Thx @ all for reporting these bugs!!!

Hi Lions, thx for the hint. After reading this thread I think the problem is not the same - all is running here. But I looked what's inside of wmfdist95.exe (what's the problematic update in your linked topic): wmasf.dll 10.0.0.3802 (and much more) But wmfdist95.exe is the reason why KB941569 is needed (I think). I will make a test... If my thought is correct, I add a dependency in the file-checker that KB941569 is expected if wmfdist95.exe was found. Otherwise I will put back KB941569 to this list in general for WMP9.

I have no idea which update brings the 10.x.DLLs on the system. Do you?I think I reactivate this update for WMP9... Hmmm...
-
Hiho! The question was, why do you have wmasf 10.x on your system and why not 9.x? You said, you selected WMP9. Then I would expect wmasf 9.x

As Parseus said, the IGNORE-section in the hfslipfc.ini is for that purpose. As an example, here is my IGNORE-section: ------------------------------------------------- ! Expected updates to be ignored ! To make it more consistent the format is ! identical to the other sections, but only ! the file (column 2) is used. In column 3 you ! should add your own remarks (but do not use ! pipe-characters and backspaces). ! For col. 2 You can also use regular-expressions ! (see help for FINDSTR). When using regular- ! expressions consider that the backslash is the ! escape-character. It has to be replaced by a ! dot. When possible use just the KB-number ! (including 'KB'). ------------------------------------------------- +IGNORE O|kb890830|Malicious Software Removal Tool O|HF\KB961742-v3.exe|Enable RemoteApp to XP SP3 VMs on a Windows 7 host O|HFSVCPACK\WindowsXP-KB967715-x86.reg|Disable Autorun for all drive-types O|HFGUIRUNONCE\UPHClean-Setup.msi|User Profile Hive Cleanup Service 1.6d O|HFGUIRUNONCE\messenger.msi|Windows Messenger 5.1| | \ | |Ensure that Windows Messenger 5.1 is the current version 5.1.0.715 O|HF\WindowsRightsManagementServicesSP2-KB979099-Client-x86-!ln979099!.exe|Rights Management Services Client with SP2 H|HFSVCPACK_SW1\windowsxp-kb976002-v5-x86-enu.exe|Browser-choice for EU-countries -

Normally SP3 includes the following DLLs: wmasf.dll 9.00.00.4503 wmvcore.dll 9.0.0.4503 But something has installed WMP10 / WMP10-DLLs on your system. For WMP10 there is something new in KB941569: wmasf.dll 10.0.0.4060 Can you check which update installed WMP10 / WMP10-DLLs? CU...
-
Hi Trustee, please, would you tell me the version of the following DLLs on this installation? wmasf.dll wmvcore.dll I just finished also my new installation. But with WMP11. Windows-Update is satisfied. Mimo

new file-checker extension for xp: 2010-07-15 - Added: KB2229593 (MS10-042: Help and Support Center) - Added: Malicious Software Removal Tool v3.9 - Removed: Malicious Software Removal Tool v3.8

It's still necessary (and still on my List ) The *new* WMP11 contains: Wmp.dll 11.0.5721.5262 Wmpdxm.dll 11.0.5721.5262 It's really strange why MS doesn't put new version ...5268 of these DLLS into the installer
-
I would suggest that you talk with Parseus if these changes are worth to put them into his original 2K-extension.I think it's better that we have just one 2K-extension here. Avoiding confusion (deciding which 2K-extension to use) for others...

No, it's not normal. I'll check it... THX for reporting this! new file-checker 2010-07-12 - Removed: Extracting filever.exe from SOURCE\SUPPORT\TOOLS\SUPPORT.CAB is moved from the file-checker to the fc-extension for XP. - Fixed: Forgotten to echo round brackets with escape-char (follows with wrong output of file-version-check-results to screen and to log-file) new file-checker extension for xp: 2010-07-12 - Added: Extracting filever.exe from SOURCE\SUPPORT\TOOLS\SUPPORT.CAB is moved from the file-checker to the fc-extension for XP.

No, it's not normal. I'll check it...

For W2K, Parseus offers an extension: HFSLIPFC-2K. Put this file also in the HFSLIP-folder, fill the SOURCES-folder with W2K and start the file-checker. If you have an older INI, rename your current hfslipfc.ini and let hfslipfc create a new INI. There are some other options for W2K

Thanls, Parseus! New file-checker 2010-07-07 - Added: Real check of file-version using filever.exe in HFTOOLS (if filever.exe is not found, the file-checker tries to expand it from SOURCE\SUPPORT\TOOLS\SUPPORT.CAB, when using Windows XP) new file-checker-extension for XP 2010-07-07 - Added: Version-number to the WMP11-installer (from 22.Jun.2010) - Updated: KB952069-v2 is now only for WMP9 - Removed: KB941569 (SP3 already contains a newer version of these DLLs) - Removed: KB954154 (MS08-054: Media Player 11) - Removed: KB928788 (Fix: Streaming Windows Media format video content) - Removed: KB933547 (Fix: Crash if you plug in certain flash memory devices) - Removed: KB929773 (Fix: Noise/problem when playing WMA-file on certain devices) - Removed: KB939683 (Shortcuts (Pinned Menu) Update) - Removed: KB935551 (Fix: Device disconnected when synchronizing many files) - Removed: KB939209 (Fix: Application may fail when playing DRM-protected video) - Removed: KB944882 (Fix: Memory increases for each media file transfer) - Removed: KB929399-v2 (Subscription Update) - Removed: KB932390 (Fix: Cannot use Windows Media Audio 9 Voice codec) - Removed: KB935552 (Fix: Stop responding when canceling media transfer) - Removed: KB954069 (Fix: Media Encoder 9 crashes in specific cases) - Fixed: Extracted directX-check uses now Jun2010_XAudio_x86.cab

I found ever newer version: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=1d224714-e238-4e45-8668-5166114010ca. It's from 22nd, June 2010! This is the same version. It's strange why this download from 22nd, June 2010 was digitally signed on FEB 05 2009 btw... I've checked all WMP11-Updates. With the new WMP11-Installer 14 Updates are obsolete. Only these two still remain: KB973442 and KB974905 But I have a question: Is KB941569 (MS07-068) still necessary when using WMP9? I found a hint that this is obsolete because XPSP3 have already newer files for WMP9.
