  1. I am using the 'ForceWare 71.84' for months with Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 (32 MB RAM) under Win 98SE with no glitch. It is the last version working with those Graphics cards:
  2. Sorry, I just tried here and don't have such corruptions: function keys, Display, "Select game" function are OK. Freecell.exe version is 4.10.1998 Me too.
  3. From Microsoft Malware Protection Center: Today [= monday], Microsoft announced plans to release of an out-of-band update to address CVE-2010-2568 (described in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article (2286198)). so, wait and see...
  4. Thanks Xeno86 for your work ! My feedback: 1°) install KernelEx v4.5 RC 1 (after uninstall of previous version 4.5 beta 2): so far so good no bug or regression detected. 2°) run last VLC 1.1.2 (zip file, no installer, after I have deleted the %windir%\Application Data\vlc folder from old version): Not working - program is launching - menus are readable but - files are not running : I tried mp3, mp4 and wmv - doesn't accept to change language of GUI - shut off is broken: program stays in memory (I have to use Ctrl+Alt+Del to kill it), icon is still in the systray and I had a crash at reboot 3°) install Flash player 10.1.53.64 (ActiveX & Plugin, after uninstall of old versions): - no need of any trick with registry, neither the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion] "CurrentVersion"="5.1" of Page 1, neither anyone else! - twice are running smooth. Right versions are indicated in Adobe site. - the Non-IE version is installed in %windir%\SYSTEM\Macromed\Flash, and Opera had detected it at once. 4°) BTW, what is the use of the new "Disable custom heap" in the compatibility tab? Later EDIT: 5°) I have the same problem with Maxthon that I had with new VLC 1.1.2: if I have a few tabs open, it can freeze completely if I try to close all together, or it does not unload from memory when I shut it off, and I have to use Ctrl+Alt+Del to kill it. Never had such problem before, but I can't say if it comes from new KernelEx or from Flash player 10.1. 2nd Edit: I have tried to disable 'Hardware acceleration' in Flash settings, but it doesn't help. 3rd Edit: New try after uninstall of Flash player 10.1 (only the ActiveX, for the reason that I have no bug with the plugin). I thought to downgrade to last version 10.0 ...but the problems are the same in Maxthon .
  5. Hi MDGx, thanks for that fix. Is it possible to simply (rename &) replace that fixed Msvcrt.dll instead of running the patch?
  6. Yes of course, no difference. I am currently running version 10.0.32.18 in IE.
  7. MS released today a "FAST PUBLISH" article with a patch which only implement in the registry the workaround that disables .LNK and .PIF file functionality.
  8. This flaw is using a rootkit, so it could be of no effect with Windows 9x/Me. On the other side, Microsoft Has No Plans To Patch New Flaw right now. Proof-of-concept exploit code has been posted to Offensive Security's Exploit Database. The code is designed to work on Windows XP SP3.
  9. AFAIK the main copy is the one in %WINDIR%\SYSTEM, on which will rely all applications, except if they find a copy in their own folder (like for your mouse). Since that Dll has been already registered (in its previous version), you only have to replace it by the new version in WINDOWS\SYSTEM .
  10. I am running version 6.10.9848.0 for a long time with no glitch.
  11. I am using the D.T.A. skin (= d_t_a_-9_9_10.zip) in which I have added a few icons for my personnal buttons and it is running perfectly with your fix as 'standard_skin.zip'. Actually, all the skins I have previously downloaded and kept are better with your fixed 'standard_skin.zip' in replacement of the original , even if some cosmetic glitches can reappears. For example, tab thumbnails are always corrected, but the Speed dial dialog window not for each skin. That's right.
  12. loblo, as I said, if you use another skin than the Standard Opera, and you want it to be corrected for Windows 98/Me also, it is a better way to replace the original standard_skin.zip in the main directory (IMHO).
  13. That is right. Not in the folder %WINDIR%\Application Data\Opera\OPERA\skin like any new skin, because most of the other skins rely on the standard_skin to display correctly and need to find it at the correct place. EDIT: Ooops! loblo gave the answer already
  14. This build is definitely nice, loblo The previous one was rather a downgrade for me, and that's why I was sticking with the first. Thanks for your work (in name of the tens of thousands of people who were waiting for it ).
  15. @ Tihiy: Revolutions Pack 9.6.5 is very stable here, running fine. The only point annoying me is that sometimes there is no automatic display refreshing (F5), and I see a file on the desktop (for instance) that is already deleted or displaced! I can even select it to try to (re)delete or (re)displace it (when I think that it was not done)
  16. Hi, it's not so hard to do it yourself! For Crystal dlb Blue, open the file 'TASKBANDBUTTON.bmp' in Paint (for instance) and save it in 24-Bit (it is in 256 colors) and you will get back transparency. For Ubuntu Human, you delete all the part [scrollArrows] in the 'skin.ini'. HTH!
  17. It is really perfect! The Start bar is exactly the same than before. Thanks a lot! You should propose this fixed skin at the Opera forum, in the thread on Opera & Windows 98 : http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=633722&t=1278699879&page=1
  18. Opera 10.60 definitely works with KernelEx, and could be the same for next versions Only problem I think, is we can't run last Java Runtime Environment with it.
  19. Yes, still here also My mistake, I was wrong. Icons are in place! The only glitch is that the Start Toolbar has become very thick, and square. Is there something to do for it?
  20. You're right! Special fix for Windows 98, very nice. Thank you. EDIT : error removed.
  21. Thanks, ..but what is it fixing? I don't see the difference.
  22. My version is 2.40.4520, but I can't tell if it's coming from it
  23. I tried VLC 1.0.3 ... I get a variety of errors. Do you have KernelEx installed? You need also MS Layer for Unicode 1.1.3790.0 (= unicows.dll) to be in %WINDIR%\SYSTEM (or at least in VLC folder). If not, I think the last version to run in plain vanilla Win98 was 0.8.6i.
