That's old news... Newer news is that Microsoft is going to block unlicensed users from updating their copies to SP2... Don't get into any illegal stuff now!
Recently, all the wallpapers I had in my "My Pictures" folder would not show up like they used to in the wallpaper selction (under the "Display" setting in the "Control Panel")... Is there a way to fix this? I know its kind of stupid, but I forgot!
I believe OEM version's of OSes (like Dell's) have problems accepting certain hot fixes and service packs released from Microsoft. When I tried installing SP1 for my Dell, I got the same error...
Why not just use winipcfg in Windows 98? It should work fine... http://www.practicallynetworked.com/support/winipcfg.htm And if you want to log what it returns: Replace <command> with one of winipcfg's commands! winipcfg <command> >> c:\log.txt That should log everything that winipcfg returns in c:\log.txt! Edit: My bad, I forgot winipcfg was a GUI interface. I believe ipconfig /all SHOULD still do the trick in Windows 98... I think I remember it being done on TechTV...
As long as you don't post core files of Windows XP and your Product Key, you should be fine... And as long as you don't put up anything that says how to disable activation or anything, you're OK!
