  1. arpharazon, looks like you were lucky to get this far. I think your hot fixes are in reverse order at least, except maybe for WMP11. You should place IE7 and WMP11 first and then their updates. It also looks like you have about twice as many updates as needed. I suggest you look at Kurt_Aust's great tutorial. He has a complete list of updates needed after SP2. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  2. mofirouz, at this time I only have some questions. What kind of Widows CD to you have - Recovery, Retail, OEM or other? Have you followed these basic rules? Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  3. killerb255, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  4. Sp0iLedBrAt, I am glad you are making good progress! I have no idea why your TimeOut command is not found. It works fine for me (on XP x64), so maybe it is a XP thing. You could open a Command Prompt and try it. I tried it and the /T seems to have no effect. Kurt_Aust says it is to let the disk activity settle down (see the link I provided). You should have a TIMEOUT.EX_ file in your I386 folder. I am not sure it is really needed but I have left it in. Great work! Enjoy, John.

mn2az87, you will have your Last Session.ini files from past runs of nLite. They are in the C:\Program Files\nLite\Presets folder with a date code. You can always use these. You should always start with a fresh source for every nLite run, but using the proper Last Session (Preset) you will be able to add/remove/change to your heart's content from some prior run. I run nLite with everything under the sun running - VMware Server, IE, Thunderbird, DLs, etc (you get the idea). I don't burn a disk very often anymore, but I do other things while I am (using nLite or Nero). Give it a try! Have fun, John.

mn2az87, there are some step by step procedures in this forum - search for them. I would suggest starting very slowly. Copy your source CD to a folder. If your source does not contain SP3, then go to MS DL Center and get it. Open nLite, point it to your source folder, then select only Service Pack, Unattended and Bootable CD. Follow the instructions for the SP, then look around the Unattended section and include a user account and password and input the CD key; Selected Fully Automatic and when in the Bootable CD section, select Create ISO. In VMware, open your BIOS and specify boot from CD, define the ISO file as your CD, bring up VMware ad have fun. Enjoy, John.
  7. milcom, some report success under Vista. We never have seen your Last Session (as was requested), so we could not see the particulars. It may be possible to run under Vista using SP2 XP Compatibility Mode, also. Enjoy, John.
  8. Angelico_Payne, I don't understand what causes nLite to place hot fixes in the SVCPACK, but it is necessary to properly include the updates. Apparently all hot fixes cannot be directly integrated. Just always start with a fresh source and nLite will process the hot fixes as it sees fit. Trying to extract and use these files is going to lead to trouble unless you determine what nuhi did to prepare the files (I don't have a clue). RayanVM update packs can be placed directly into the nLite hot fix area. I would not run his integrator and then try to use nLite. Use one or the other.
  9. Sp0iLedBrAt, please don't give up. It just takes a while to learn the ropes. Please post a screen shot as requested before and of the Users tab. Look in your _U.ini and you'll see that the "qaqa" PW is applied to your personal account, not the Administrator's (no PW). If you look at the link on using $OEM$, you will see you can have files copied to the Windows and other folders, but the $OEM$ is not copied, at least in XP. I am not familiar with any other OSs. Enjoy, John.

mn2az87, VMware or another virtual system is almost a requirement for testing, but you are correct, drivers are not tested. Believe me, there are plenty of things to test before you start making coasters. I think you misunderstood me. NLite will not install programs for you or tweak them. In a sense it can install programs if you are someone has created an AddOn for it. See the forum on AddOns above and the RyanVM forum. You can also install programs out of the RunOnce exit in the Unattended section of nLite. Please see this great tutorial on doing this. It is for XP x64, but will work for you. WPI is the other option. It is easy to use. I use both Kurt_Aust's method to install lots of things (VMwaretools, VMware Sound driver, etc...) and WPI for others. This stuff is fun to experiment with, so I encourage to do just that. Enjoy, John.

mn2az87, I think you really need to install nLite and play with it to get a feel of what it can do. Yes, there are many very personal tweaks available but no modifications for any programs you install. You will need to do this yourself. I suggest you read all the guides on the nLite site and spend some time looking through posts on this forum. If you have specific questions, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  12. Sp0iLedBrAt, I could only take a quick look, but your Last Session.ini shows AutoLogon = Administrator. I need to go, but I will look more closely later. Have fun, John. EDIT:OK, I am back. You did not specify a password for the Administrator account and you made it the account to autologon. I think that takes care of #2. Specify a password for it and make your account the autologon account. As to the $OEM$ folder. It does not get copied to the install HDD. Please see this article on how to use the $OEM$ folder. What I think you should do is place your files in a folder and place the folder in the root of your source folder. In the RunOnce area of Unattended, place: TimeOut /T 40 CMD /R %Source%COM.batThen your COM.bat entries should look like this (as many as you want): Rem Directx %Source%YourFolderNameHere\Directx\DXSETUP.exe /SILENT REM Reboot shutdown -r -f -t 90Place the .bat in the root of your source folder also. If you have more trouble with your Administrator account, please post a screen shot of Owner and Network ID tab of the Unattended page. Hope this helps. Enjoy, John.
  13. submix8c, %CLSID_IE_TypeLib% is a string used in IE.inf and defined at the bottom under [strings]. Enjoy, John. EDIT: The string variable value is {EAB22AC0-30C1-11CF-A7EB-0000C05BAE0B} and is found multiple times in update.inf of the original IE8. John.
  14. milcom, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  15. Escudero, I have made many XP x64 ISOs with no such problems. Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  16. Angelico_Payne, in general you should not nLite a source that has already had nLite run against it. It almost always leads to strange problems. I actually warned you against this in the Sticky part of the forum before you came over here. The Last Session is intended to be used in this case. Starting with a fresh source, but using an existing Last Session allows you to make any changes you want, or go back to an older version. In the nLite folder in your Program Files folder is a folder called Presets. It contains all past Last Session files with a date stamp. Enjoy, John.
  17. englishman, thanks much for reporting - glad you got it fixed. Have fun, John.
  18. mark2121, this is not a warez site and pirated SW will not be discussed. Please read the forum rules at the top of the page. John.

    Restore Point issue

x509, it is true I have not had this problem but my son did on his Athlon and I helped him debug and get his machine going again. I do have an old Athlon 32 bit machine, but for some reason it did not have the problem when I installed SP3. If you stop the auto restart you will see a BSOD with stop 7E (most likely). You can boot into safe mode. I wonder how all the 32 XP users here are doing their SP3 installs. I would hope one of them would respond. You might do a search and send one of them a PM and see if they found a solution. Good luck, and please keep us informed. John. EDIT: I ran a test on my XP x64 SP1 CD, adding an old MS update (using direct integration), then applying SP2. NLite warned me to remove the update but I answered to leave it in. SP2 integrated OK and I got no nLite errors. I installed it on my VMware Server and it runs, although I did little with it. You might try the same thing and see what happens. Enjoy, John.
  20. Rollandv, please attach your Last Session, as requested. You integrate ONLY the last SP you want. If you want the latest available, then integrate ONLY SP3! It does not matter what you start with on your CD. Enjoy, John.
  21. Rollandv, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  22. Outbreaker, please check the MD5s I suggested and if they check out you can try PMing nuhi, the author/owner of nLite. Enjoy, John.
  23. GrofLuigi, I say that because my CDs don't have these folders, nor do most that have been posted here. More importantly, do you have some advice Outbreaker? I am running out of ideas. Thanks, John. Outbreaker, did you check the MD5 of nLite when you DLed it? How about the CD contents? Enjoy, John.
  24. Outbreaker, this does not look like a MS Windows CD. It contains DOTNETFX and VALUEADD. It looks more like a recovery CD. Please post your Last Session like I requested and post the label of the CD. If you open My Computer, load the CD, you should see the label on the optical drive. Also post the Pid found in setupp.ini, probably in your I386 folder. Enjoy, John.
  25. englishman, please search this site for an 'undo' for search assistant. Let us know if this helps. Enjoy, John.
