  1. zxc, thanks for sharing your solution. Glad you are running. Have fun, John.
  2. Outbreaker, I suspect you have not found an nLite problem, but without more real information (not just complaints), we don't have a chance to discover what the problem might be. Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Also post the screen shot I requested. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  3. makavelli, glad you are running and thanks much for reporting. Have fun, John.
  4. makavelli, I went to the SiS site and DLed the drivers and extracted them. You need to get the text mode drivers from the FloppyImage folder. I don't know which chip set you have, so could not go any farther. Text mode drivers are used at the first part of setup (install) which is called text mode since there is no GUI. The distinguishing feature of text mode drivers is the TXTSETUP.OEM file. You will need to move this file into the appropriate folder for you set and point nLite to the .inf file there. Enjoy, John.
  5. zxc, I suspect you did not disable 16-bit support, you removed it. I also suspect you are out of luck and will need a reinstall. Stick around for awhile and see if anyone else has a different idea and please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

    Restore Point issue

x509, I will try to run a test to see if I can add a hot fix, then start over and add an SP. I have done this before, and I get a message from nLite. I wonder if I am given an option to leave the hot fix in place and if that works. In general one should not run nLite against a source that has already had nLite run against it. You could add KB953356, then add SP3 and all later hot fixes. If I understand the question, yes you can integrate an SP then add all the after hot fixes.Currently nLite does not support W7. Enjoy, John. EDIT: I did a search here on KB953356, and got several hits. One person said you did not need KB953356 with SP3. I am not sure what that means, but it may be worth a try. Slipstreaming SP3 may prevent the AMD looping problem. John. EDIT, again: I was unable to find an hot fix that applies to my x64 SP1 CD, so I could not run the test I said I would. Perhaps you already know the answer. John.
  7. Outbreaker, really strange. Please post a screen shot of a Windows Explorer view of your CD folder. When you find a solution, please post it here, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  8. makavelli, those drivers are not text mode drivers. If you will post a link to your driver DL page, I'll see if I can find the correct one. Please, when you find a solution, post it here so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

    Restore Point issue

x509, I see nothing out of order in your Last Session except you need to remove the "Explorer-Launch folder windows in a separate process". This exposes a Windows bug. I don't think it is causing your restore point problem, but it is worth a try. I suspect how you have combined your two MCE CDs and files you deleted. A number of people here have nLited MCE systems and you should search and learn from their experience. You may have to go to a DVD to hold it all. I understand your interest in keeping it simple, but I strongly recommend a virtual system. There will be some learning curve but after that it will be much simpler and no more coasters. I also know there are some versions of MCE that cannot accept SP3, so you should check that out. Please keep us informed on what you learn. Enjoy, John.
  10. Gnomeofdeath, I agree with your command syntax. Whether this will work during install, I do not know. I assume you are going to run this out of nLite RunOnce exit. I suggest you use a virtual system, such as VirtualPC, VirtualBox or VMware Server - all free, to test your install. Please let us know how it turns out. Enjoy, John.
  11. Gnomeofdeath, I have not used Domains and am not familiar with them, but I took a look at deploy.chm and it seems to define user/domain relationships. If this works, then setup will be able to do this for you during install. Please go to the Support folder of your install CD, and look for deploy.cab. Expand this (I use 7-Zip) and you will find two .chm (help) files. Look into deploy.chm and see if the domain stuff there helps you. I did not look at ref.chm, but it may help also. Please let us know what you learn. Have fun, John.
  12. Cornfused, yea, me too! Thanks for the Last Session. It looks like you have updates for IE7 but no IE7 (SP3 does not include IE7 or WMP11). You need to place the MS IE7 installer (found on the DL center) first in the hot fix list, then the updates to it. It also looks like your updates are out of order. You can use an Update Pack (RyanVM) or the hot fix lists there to get the order correct. To see if these things are the root of your problem, please remove all updates and run nLite again (against a fresh source) and see if it will load OK. I also suggest you look into a virtual system, such as VirtualPC, VirtualBox or VMware Server - all free, for your testing (no more coasters). Please make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.

    Restore Point issue

x509, we need the gory details to help, so please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. You can integrate SP3 and the hot fixes using nLite and install programs using several techniques including Windows Post Install (WPI) and Addons. Both are discussed in these forums. Then when you encounter these types of problems, you can reformat and reinstall with little trauma. It takes longer to get ready but pays off in the long run. I also suggest you look into a virtual system, such as VirtualPC, VirtualBox or VM ware Server - all free, for your testing. Enjoy, John. EDIT:GMan_PCTT, you are right - sorry about that! I have edited the OP name. Thanks, John.
  14. makavelli, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Do you have your BIOS setup properly for your controller/drives/RAID? Enjoy, John.
  15. rogerspass, you can also use Windows Update Downloader (WUD). Please see the forum below. Enjoy, John.
  16. Sergo, I am running XP x64, so maybe that is why I see it. Please try one more time. Open Run dialog (command prompt works also) and type "cmd /?" and hit enter. You will need to hit enter several times to get to the part about the /R. If you still don't see it, please post a screen shot of what you do get. Have fun, John.
  17. k64, the size and MD5 check out, thanks. Be sure to place IE7 and WMP11 first in your hot fix list, then the updates in the correct order. I have not used them, but RyanVM's site has update packs that contain all post SP3 updates. There are also lists of the updates, so you can see the order required. Enjoy, John.
  18. k64, there are many Hash checkers. I use HashTab. Enjoy, John.
  19. Sergo, if you open a Run dialog and type "cmd /?" (no quotes), it will tell you. For compatibility reasons /R is the same as /C. Enjoy, John.
  20. loko_libra, please do a search of these forums for the Kabul time problem. Lots have had the problem and I think there is an MS update to correct it. Enjoy, John.
  21. sarzaminman, EH??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. k64, it looks like you have included hot fixes for IE7 and WMP11 but neither are installed. If this is true, no telling what kind of mess this will cause. Neither are included in SP3. BTW, I assume you are not really running SP3 RC1 as you stated in another thread. Please post the size (not size on disk) and MD5 for the SP3 you are using. To see if you can get a running system, please remove all hot fixes and (using a fresh source) make and install an ISO on your virtual system and let us known what happens. Enjoy, John.
  23. k64, I think 4GB should be enough disk space. I have installed XP x64 under VMware Server with 4GB. How large is your ISO? Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.
  24. kornphlake, I assume you restarted your computer the appropriate number of times. Please post a screen shot of the error message. Look in Add/Remove and see what version(s) of .NET you have installed and report. Did you check the MD5 of the nLite DL? If not, please check it. Enjoy, John.
  25. Angelico_Payne, if you are making multiple runs against the same source folder, then that is probably your problem. Please attach your latest Last Session after running a complete process (using fresh source) except for .NET and let us know what happens. If you get a BSOD, please post the error code. I see your same result when I try to direct integrate the extracted IE8. Enjoy, John.
