TerryFox, you don't need any floppy utility because you are not making a floppy. Just DL the correct drivers for what you have and what your want to run. I don't have a clue what you should select. This is up to you to decide what you want to run. Enjoy, John.

Bryce, as mooms says, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Plus, make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

Can't find ntkrpamp.exe in XP CD and dualcore fix question
johnhc replied to hellbringer616's topic in nLite
hellbringer616, the way I see it is, you do not have a multiprocessor and you do not have more than 3GB. A dual core CPU is not a multiprocessor. I think you should be using ntoskrnl.exe. Enjoy, John. -
sbridge, I think nuhi was saying to copy the CMPNENTS folder into the same folder that contains the I386 folder. Please post a screen shot of a Windows Explorer view of your source folder. Also, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

TerryFox, unzip it again. You must get down to the folder that contains the .inf and txtsetup.oem files. I use 7-Zip for this. Enjoy, John.

johnhc replied to johnhc's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
Thanks, mritter, I will add the commands to my batch file. I am in the middle of an install right now, but I will try it soon. I do not install/use Office, so I knew nothing about these keys. Thanks, John. after install? Thanks, John. EDIT: My install worked the first time with the added Registry entries. Do I need to continue to use the additional reboot for IE8, or can I run WPI install the first boot in Windows? -
arpharazon, the 7E stop means it is a driver problem. Try removing half of your drivers to narrow it down. Please post your latest Last Session and let us know what you learn. Enjoy, John.
-
arpharazon, here is the the link from my post several above. I have no idea what that is your pointing too, but if it is talking about I386, it is probably 32 not 64 bit. NLite is not going to 'recognize' anything you put in these folders. Enjoy, John.

rehbar, I am not aware of a way to set My Computer on top, but to select your wallpaper, see the Themes tab on the Unattended section. Enjoy, John.

arpharazon, Please see one of my previous post: If by your 'current' XP installation, you mean the system you are running on, it is integrated into many files and folders on your System disk (usually C:). I know of no way to create an installer from it. I am sure many would love to have such a thing. Just for starters, the Setup files that run when you boot the install CD, are not copied to your HDD since they are not needed on a running system. If you would have seen my last post, you would have seen that I suggest you add the drivers, because that is where I suspect where your problem is. Enjoy, John.

sidefx88, this is not your problem, but you need to remove the tweak 'Explorador-Lanzar ventanas de carpetas en un proceso separado'. It exposes a Windows bug. I see a couple things wrong. You are integrating IE8 but include an update for IE7. Remove the IE7 update. I also see that you are running nLite under Vista to create an ISO for XP. Many have reported problems doing this and MS says you should not. I suggest you try running on an XP system. If this is a real problem, then try running nLite.exe in SP2 XP Compatibility Mode. The nLite.exe file is found in 'C:\Program Files\nLite' folder. You probably should set service SENS to Manual not Disabled - see Black Viper. Is dotnetaio.exe really an AddOn - I'm just not familiar? Try these fixes and give it a try and let us know. Enjoy, John.

johnhc replied to johnhc's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
mritter, I just ran a test with the disable of Allow For Internet Check as you suggested and it failed also. I ran as I explained in EDIT2 of my third post. There was a white screen for some time, then the sound (I enabled in api.js) and then the white screen and the command prompt went away. I restarted again (my bat was still in the Startup file) and it worked. When the Installer was running, I could see the command prompt where I deleted the WPI Registry key and that ran successfully. This means that the first time I ran, WPI got at least as far as setting the key, because the first time WPI runs the key delete fails. I am not sure what you are saying and asking here. I alter Registry keys both before (nLite, using Kurt_Aust's batch file) and with WPI (see my log.) To move all my Registry updates out of WPI would be a large job and may not work because of dependencies. I can fairly easily turn off all WPI tweaks. Please don't forget I an running under VMware Server and I assume my NIC looks installed and ready to go on final boot. Thanks much for the reply and help. Enjoy, John. -
arpharazon, great!, I think it is important to get a running system to work from. I would suggest you put all your drivers back in and see what happens. I suspect this is where the problem is and you will get there sooner. If it does BSOD, please try to get into Safe Mode. Enjoy, John.

tetrapro, I will do some more looking after lunch, but I still think you need to run the test I suggested. I think if you just rename your cmdlines.txt, you can see if you can get a successful install. I assume the cmdlines.txt you posted is before you ran nLite. NLite uses cmdlines to run nLite.inf, so if you are replacing cmdlines after nLite runs, then you are killing nLite.inf. Please try my test and let us know the results. Have fun, John.

Cauptain, you need to do what redxii says, but first, remove the /Q switch and run only the one with the quotes (") and /f. Please post a screen shot. Enjoy, John.

swinder0161, g-force helped another user get his language back without reinstalling. PM him and see if he can help you if you don't hear from him soon. Good luck, John.
-
tetrapro, I cannot see how you are running the RunOnceEX .cmd file. I also cannot see how you are implementing the Autocheck Time-out tweak. My suggestion is to start much more simply and see if you can get a running system. If it were me, I would remove all the AddOns and RunOnce stuff, and the Autocheck Time-out tweak and see if you get a running system. If so, then put some back in until it fails. Sorry I cannot be more specific. Enjoy, John.
-
space, why do you want to integrate Windows Genuine Advantage Validation. If it is to avoid MS control of the legality of your copy of XP, then discussion here is not permitted by the forum rules. Please see the rules at the top of the page. Enjoy, John.
-
g-force, I think we have seen problems here that go away when the user quits slipstreaming more than one SP. If you will look at your signature, even you say to integrate only one SP. Gotcha -he he. Have fun - I am, John.
-
Cauptain, did you do what redxii suggested? Do you get an error or does it just not delete the file? Please remove the /q switch and run it from a command prompt and post a screen shot. Enjoy, John.
-
eh3, since we don't know what you converted to a batch file, we cannot speculate on why it did not work. Did it freeze at T-13? If so, this is when the SVCPACK stuff gets run and I would suspect one of your AddOns. Please, in the future, attach (not paste) your Last Session file. In the lower right corner of the Reply screen are the Browse... and the UPLOAD buttons. Use them to attach your file. Thanks for changing your topic title. Enjoy, John.
-
Sorry, but I disagree with SilverArrow and g-force. If you are installing SPs on a running Windows XP, then you need to install each in order. If you are slipstreaming (as nLite does), then you slipstream ONLY SP3, no matter what your starting point is. If this does not work for you, then please open a new topic and post your particulars and we will try to determine the problem. Enjoy and sorry, John.
-
m00ty, if your are placing the command in the nLite RunOnce area, then the problem is that it runs at T-13. This is too early, since your account is not set up yet. There are many ways to accomplish this, but the easiest way may well be Windows Post Install (WPI, a couple forums below nLite's). It also allows you do many things such as installing programs. Enjoy, John.

Cauptain, to begin with, since the file name contains blanks, it should be in quotes ("). If that still fails, try the /f switch (force). Example: del /Q "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\AppData\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat.LOG " /f I got this from Help and Support in the Start menu. Please let us know how it turns out. Enjoy, John.
