  1. I've changed the Task Scheduler service to log on as a different user, and now it gives an error message when I try to start it. Error 1079:The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for the services running in the same process. Rather than logging on as the standard Local System logon, I want the service to start up using the Administrator logon name and password. So I went and changed it correctly, but when trying to restart the service that error message pops up. I am really hoping somebody knows something here. I've been searching for hours on the net, but to no avail. EDIT: Added the error message screenshot
  2. Hi all At my company we have a program that runs everyday on the clients' PC's. We use Task Scheduler to run the program, but due to users changing their passwords I would prefer to use the admin password. If I use the Admin username and password the program does not run. The scheduler states the task runs, but the program does not appear. I have tried with standard Windows programs (calculator) and the same thing happens. The task only runs correctly if the current username and password are entered. Is there a fix for this, or some other way that I can set the relevant program to run at a set time using the admin's credentials? PS. Yes, I am putting in the admin's credentials correctly.
  3. I use Ultr@VNC at my work. EDIT: I forgot to add that VNC would be better to use as it is more secure and more than one person can connect simultaneously. Which is a big + in my books.

    Security Tab

Security tab where? Security tabs can be found all over WinXP...
  8. I agree with prathapml... You'll probably need to run fdisk and partition the hard drive.
  9. I have got Terminal services set up for our users, but they tend to forget to log off. Instead they simple close the session, therefore clogging up the sessions and they confuse themselves when they log back on when it gives them the option of which session they want. What was mentioned in an earlier topic was to create a desktop wallpaper that reminded them to log off. I thought this was an excellent idea, so I designed a background I am now attempting to apply to the Group Policy so that the wallpaper appears when the users log on. Where is the setting?!!? What I have found so far is the settings for the Active Desktop. There is an option there to set the Active Desktop background, but that doesn't seem to be working. Is there no other way to set the background to appear when the users log on?
  10. I installed Free Download Manager yesterday and it's the best manager I've ever used! Previously I've used most of the others like, Download Accelerator, Fresh Download, Star Downloader etc, but man the Free Download Manager is awesome!!
  11. I met my fiance on the net... We started chatting in a chat room one night, the next day I phoned her and we haven't looked back since.
  12. With our TS users, we have them to go Start | Logoff. As far as I understand, your users are pressing the X at the top and not logging off correctly. The best option would be to do what MadGutts suggested or simply stress to your users to use that Logoff button. *Nice to see another South African here. You're the 1st I've seen .
  13. I surf with Firefox, but certain sites work better with IE, which I use Avant browser for.
  14. Disable the Windows Firewall, then try again. Start | Control Panel | Windows Firewall . Select the Off selection and press OK.
  15. Does the PC have at least the minimum specs for XP?
  16. Since its an online game, the error sounds like it has trouble importing components. Maybe the components are downloaded, but something on your PC is blocking it. Do you have any firewall software on your PC?
  17. I agree with Doggie. Next step is replace the VGA card, see what happens then.
  18. Isn't the option of just setting them as standard users? As far as I understand, standard users can't install new programs. I don't know about the downloading though.
  19. Thanks Mark! There is a catch though. You have to put that comment in ALL the pages you want to link to on your localhost, other the link just doesn't do anything if the target page doesn't have that comment.
  20. In my limited knowledge I would imagine that when Windows authenticates the user ID/pwd the server is set up automatically to check in the SQL. I don't know how though.
  21. You asked us to reply simply, but I am having trouble understanding what you asked?! What has Nero got to do with Doom? What is the exact problem? The screwed up picture with audio? If that is the problem, then are you sure your PC can handle Doom 3? Does your PC meet the minimum requirements for Doom3?
