did you keep the 'themes' service? you've probably been too heavy handed with removals, take care when removing the 'red' entries attatch your last session.ini file and we'll see if its easy to determine what you've removed that needs to be kept

do a clean install (format the drive in the vista setup) _restore is system restore, safe to remove
