not before tonite. just installed it and it appears to be working great. i love the 'static dhcp' option -lets my laptop have the same IP regardless of wired/wireless (as long as they both arent on at the same time) -

Computer Restrictions
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to davidliverett2008's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
likely there have been some policies changed in the system registry that forbid access to certain parts of the OS. Usually these are set by malicious programs so they can hide on your system without being discovered (and removed) by the user. you will find most of these polices in the registry (Start->Run->regedit) under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ branch. once you get into that section of the registry you should see several values like DisableTaskMgr, DisableCMD, etc you can safely delete most of these values but if you arent sure enough of what it does to delete it, just double click it and change its value to 0 there is a possiblity that you will get the same message when attempting to access Start->Run->regedit if that happens either download and run this file: disableregistrytoolsundo.reg contents of attached file: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] "DisableRegistryTools"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] "**.del.DisableRegistryTools"=- [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy Objects\LocalUser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] "DisableRegistryTools"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy Objects\LocalUser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] "**del.DisableRegistryTools"=- [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000 now as i mentioned earlier, this is likely a result of something malicious running on the system causing this problem so the malicious program might just change the values right back to what they were. even if it doesn't you will want to find something to scan and remove the malware you can try our Malware Prevention & Security forum for more information on what to use to clean the system. Video http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_169.21_whql.html Chipset, Network, SATA, SMbus, Etc http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_630a_winxp2k_14.10.html Webcam (same cam used by the Asus A6Km) http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/A6Km/C...3_XP_060103.zip That should get you up and running-might need a few misc drivers after install but those should get you through the install. if you need the sata drivers for F6 during text mode setup youll find them at C:\NVIDIA\nForceWin2KXP\14.10\IDE\WinXP\sataraid or C:\NVIDIA\nForceWin2KXP\14.10\IDE\WinXP\sata_ide after you extract you chipset drivers.

I found it to be the most frustrating thing ever. waste of 50$ because i can't even play it without getting ticked off. and no i am NOT gonna stick tape to my monitor. my apologies for going off-topic here but i felt it had to be said -
I made a thread just now for this type of question: http://www.msfn.org/board/Windows-XP-drive...de-t110797.html reply back here with your results and well see if we can find XP versions of your drivers.

PLEASE NOTE This post has been replaced by an entry in the compiled sticky FAQ HERE. I have noticed an increasing number of people requesting drivers for Windows XP because they want to migrate away from Windows Vista for whatever reason. (wont get into that here) Only a few people have been able to provide all the information needed to help them locate the drivers they need for their XP Build. Sometimes we can hunt down a driver with only the make/model of the machine but in truth more information is required to find the best drivers. Therefore I have decided to make a post with instructions on how to get information about your system to the MSFN community so they can help you find drivers. In the process of getting them the information, you may get enough information to locate the drivers on your own. Download and extract Unknown Devices on the machine you are looking for drivers for. If you have Internet access on the machine you are looking for drivers for: Run UnknownDevices.exe then click List->Show->All Then click List->Upload list to pastebin Enter a comment if you like and hit upload a page like this one will open -just close that and paste the link into your post here at MSFN (it will be copied automatically) If you do not have Internet access on the machine you are looking for drivers for: Run UnknownDevices.exe then click List->Show->All Then click List->Save list to file Save the list VERY IMPORTANT Open the text file and remove your product key or change it to something totally different as i have done here: Computer Info Chipset: <unknown> Computer Name: FOURBYFOUR OS: Windows Vista (TM) Business (OEM) Product Key... AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEEE Device Tree Bluetooth Devices Bluetooth Bus Enumerator Kensington Bluetooth Device Kensington Bluetooth Device ... Now either upload the text file in your post or paste its contents into a new topic Please do not reply to this thread with your results. Only reply to this post with Problems/Questions/Comments on this information gathering process. To get the best possible assistance with locating your needed drivers, Please create a new post in whatever your target OS will be (ie XP 32Bit Edition XP 64Bit Edition, or XP Media Center, etc)

I have several questions about computer hardware.
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to ajy0903's topic in Hardware Hangout
A typical blue ray drive: http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?option...mp;limitstart=1 its manufacturer recommended specs: Personally, I wouldn't even attempt HD playback on a machine lower than 2.4Ghz(single core) I have not built a machine that plays HD/Blue myself -thats just a guesstimate based on my experience with DVD playback at high resolutions As for chipset, id say look for a P35 but if you can find a X38 that meets your specs without breaking the bank, then go for it Video card would have to be a Geforce 7 series minimum for playback 8 series for newer games (and DX10) as for ATi, you could pay me enough to use one(terrible service experience) so i cant recommend one beyond the manufacturers specs -
not everyone has that choice. IT departments usually make the decisions on what gets deployed and when.

Office 2007, Unattended Setup & Fine-tuning
PC_LOAD_LETTER replied to prathapml's topic in Microsoft Office
I used this procedure with an unattended Office 2K7 Enterprise install. Everything seemed to go normally. When completed, I noticed the version number did not change. So I ran the SP1 exe and the first thing it does is run an update detection. It apparently did not detect SP1 so proceeded to install. When finished the version number did change. I ran the exe again to see if it would detect SP1 - it did and reported SP1 already in place. So heres the question - will the method above install the SP1 components without registering as an official SP1 update? It should register properly. did you make sure you cleared out all the .msp files in your /Updates folder except SP1 and your admin .msp file? there is a noticable delay at the end of setup where the progress bar climbs to 100% and stops on 'Applying Updates'. If you did not see that then the .MSP may not be getting applied at the end. -

OK, I've been staring at it for about 10 minutes and I can't think of anything serious besides 'Azure' (cause blue doesn't sound as fancy) Hopefully these will inspire someone to think "I can do better that that!" 'Blue - The Official Color of Redmond' 'Royale with Tabs' 'Kelsenellenelvians Wild Blue Yonder' (sounds like a roller coaster) 'BSoWPIW' EDIT -Azure wasnt there when i hit reply i swear!
