  1. I just tryed to install vista on my main machine with 8GB of Memory. The first part of the setup works without any errors, but when it restarts and you have that blackscreen with the green bar going across before you get the second setup screen which completes setup, it seems to either hang, restart or even shutdown the computer without any warning. I have attempted to manually set the memory timings as well as increase the voltage in 0.25 incruments up to 1.0 volt over the recommended voltage and made no difference to the setup process. By taking all my memory out but leaving 2GB in, it continued and completed successfully so i think there may still be a problem with the 4GB fix.
  2. I think your gonna have to accept the fact that fitting Vista on a CD with SP1 is not going to happen. SP1 RC alone is 730MB, Vista OS based on medhunter is 750MB so thats 1.4GB with loads of stuff excluded from the install.
  3. On the MS forum, someone said by setting the memory timings to manual in the bios, it also worked for them. Might give both the timings and voltage a go.
  4. I have more than 4GB too, i have about 8GB, 4x2GB. I find it does help if your developing stuff and your using Virtual PCs, i was currently running two or three Virtual Pcs which used 2GB of memory each, but thats in an extreme case, normally you wouldnt be doing that. But unless you got something which requires that much memory, 4GB will be enough for most people. For some reason though, my Vista x64 Ultimate seems to enter Windows using 1GB, then goes up to 1.5GB usage, not sure how i can reduce the memory usage.

    Vista 4GB Fix

Hello, I seem to be having problems with this fix, i have both the fix itself and i have ticked the 4GB fix within vLite. But during setup, the installation seems to crash or blue screen with the same messages which are normally produced without the fix being applied. I was wondering if i am doing something wrong or no. 6. Not sure where the memory usage tweak would be found, so hopefully it should be default any way. Strange thing is that the full vista works correctly on my main machine, vLite image works correctly under vmware but not on my main machine. Maybe i will have to wait until the next release when you can provide an option not to "Load Driver".
  7. Update: Just tryed the same image in VMWare and it works perfect. The OS does not crash when you have more than 3GB in due to the hotfix from MS web site being applied to the installation disc. I still dont understand why the "Load the Driver" screen comes up on my main install where as the hard drive selection comes up with the VMWare. The official Vista Disc works fine, just comes up with the HDD selection. Maybe there is a problem with vLite taking out drivers for HDD support or something. I dont think it can be a hardware problem. Must be a bug or something Any way, it just proves that settings i had for vLite work, its just strange that i get different forms come up on the two different computers (main computer and vm computer).
  8. Well, i got 8GB of memory in my system (4x2GB). The hoxfix is meant to fix the installation and M$ recommends applying the hotfix to the installation. I am not really blaming vLite, i love the software and what it can do, but its strange that it keeps coming up with the "Load Driver" window. Even if the setup doesnt crash, i cannot seem to find a way round that Window. I hope your new release can fix this, i look forward to it
  9. Hello, I previously used the nLite on Windows XP and has no problems with getting it to work, but the vLite for Vista just wont work. Its really annoying me as i need it to work in order to fix my computer (need to apply the memory hotfix). I have attached a file with 4 pictures in it to show the setup i have done incase i am doing something i shouldnt be doing. All i want to do really is just apply the hotfixes, but i thought i could do with using some of the other options which comes with vLite Any way, the problem i am getting is that when Vista setup starts from the image i created, it requests for drivers in order to see my hard drive. I know i dont need drivers to see my hard drive and vista official disc seems to pick them up alright, the same screen appears as if you clicked "Load Driver" from the hard drive selection screen. Not sure if this is a commen problem but it shortly bombs out after a few min Any help would be greatly recieved. Pictures.zip
