You can run the DP Finisher from your current batch file to avoid the late start. First edit your winnt.sif file and remove [GuiRunOnce] "%SystemDrive%\DPsFnshr.exe" Now edit and add to your current batch file START /WAIT %SystemDrive%\DPsFnshr.exe this way your apps will install first, and then DP Finisher will start after your apps installation..

Hi am trying to hive one particular section of the registry. I successfully hived "HKLM" by running "reg load HKLM\temphive c:\x86\mounted\windows\system32\config\software", BUT cant seem to hive the HKLM\SYSTEM, it says access denied. I know vlite can be used with some switches to perform certain tasks, i was just wondering if theres any switches in vlite that i can use to hive the HKLM\SYSTEM in registry, or any other ways of hiving the HKLM\SYSTEM registry. btw "HKLM\system" belongs in HKLM key, but when i hive it, i cant see the "system" key name.. Nero Nero (here you will find most of the addons, and your purchased nero as well, and it tells you how to import your license as well) Office slipstreaming (here you will find info on how to slipstream office 2003 to your xp cd) Slipstream sp3 first, and then slipstream hotfixes and addons, and finally drivers. Make sure you slipstream sp3 on a clean xp iso Do no integrate addons before sp3 Thats the way it should be done Slipstream sp3 on a clean xp iso Integrate WMP11, IE7, and other hotfixes Integrate your addons Use nlite to apply your tweaks and unattended info etc... Slipstream drivers create iso.. Thats the way i do it, and had no problems btw i use Driverpack to slipstream drivers

I did remove Superfetch as well, i guess thats the reason why vista was slower compare to server. Looks like i have to vlite again and this time keep superfetch and compare it with server 2008 to see if the performance is still the same.

My programs run and loads faster compare to vista. The only thing i had to do manually is enable superfetch and cpu priority for programs to get the true server performance. Not only that i play lots of latest games, and it surprised me, it loads games faster and more importantly it gives more FPS. That just sums it up, that server is much faster. btw i do have all the bells and whistles enabled as well, and still its fast. I would really like to see more tweaks and more server 2008 support on next version of vlite. EDIT: even after using vlite and tweaking vista, my games and apps still does not run or load faster compare to server 2008

Hi kels It has not been proven, but vast majority of people who used server 2008, never looked back to vista. Yes they use the same kernal and everything, and yes server 2008 is not bloated like vista, BUT server is highly tuned for reliability and speed. Even when i did a vlite of vista and removed most of the stuffs, server 2008 always performed faster with all the bells and whistles on, eg desktop experience Compare to vista. Its not only me saying this, but many people end results were, server is faster than vista, no matter how much you vlite vista and tweak.

No, this will not break. You can update directx without problems

DirectX update are through windows update, so am pretty sure that it does break directx updates as well

I use Server 2008 Enterprise x64 as Workstation ONLY, i dont need any server services, but i really dont know which services to disable while having my workstation and surfing and remote desktop as well. Could you please tell me which services i can safely disable and have my remote desktop, surfing, and workstation stuffs (desktop experience) Thank you
